The EV9 is in a class and price-point of it's own. Nothing so far in the near future is even close to being a 3-row EV SUV starting at $56K. Well done KIA!
Looking to possibly make the same switch, Model Y to the Kia, I need more space and like to sit higher up. Will look at the R1S too of course, but the Kia seems more efficient. It’s a Kia, hard to feel like anything they do puts it in the exclusive club. But it is nice!
@@SammyGeek If you take the formula 3 wheel mile per kwh x battery charge of 60 KW= 180 range conversely if you're avg 4 kwh per wheel mileage x that by 60kw = 200 mile range. Your range depends entirely on fullness of charge and what your efficiency miles per kwh is, that determines your estimated range. Sorry for the long explanation. Hope this helps!
Although it is not exported to the U.S. due to high tariffs, Kia is famous in Korea for making good commercial vehicles such as trucks and vans. They have a lot of know-how in handling heavy cars, and I felt that their ability was shining considerably in the EV9. Due to its high price, it was criticized in Korea at the beginning of its release, but now everyone seems to recognize it as a good car.
Thank you for the update, we will test drive a Kia EV9 GT this fall as a potential replacement of a 2013 Toyota Highlander (I still can't believe I am considering leaving Toyota after 25 years!). Seeing actual real people report their post-sales experience is of critical importance for those of us willing to roll the dice.
I've put 3,000 miles on mine and I love it. I purposely got the Wind Version to have a longer range and I get compliments everyday how beautiful the ev9 is. Ocean Blue is a really nice color. I came from driving a Range Rover and Tesla Model Y. By far my favorite. Tesla does have a better app. The Kia app isn't very good and sometimes the doors will not open or lock automatically which is annoying. KIA techs don't know how to fix it so hopefully they find a fix soon but overall very solid vehicle.
The tech in this vehicle is very impressive. I love the camera system for lane changes... that's such a game changer. Kia seems to be about the only car manufacturer these days who's actually solving daily driving problems.
What about charging at Electrify America, EV Go or other non tesla superchargers? I have a model Y and Ideally would like a larger EV SUV, but I keep seeing nightmare videos of non tesla chargers always being down. Also, with the 800V architecture, can't charge EV9 well at Tesla superchargers yet until Tesla upgrades more V4 superchargers. Otherwise it is a great SUV.
Does the heated steering wheel heat the whole thing or just sections, like 3 and 9 o'clock? Does it have a security camera system like Tesla or Rivian?
The acrylic type plastic that covers the accent lighting on the front is cracking like glass on my ev9 gt line after 1200 miles. Im sure this will start being a more common issue as more miles are put on them.
Thanks Sammy! Great review! I have 3k on our Wind Panthera Metal and had it for 3months. I think it blends in and I do not get much attention. I have seen only 3 others (multiple cities during travel to FL, Utah, Vegas,Denver) so still seems pretty rare to see others. I live at 9100 ft in CO and it does great in the snow for traction etc however I can definitely feel slippage break loose on slick roads due to the heavy weight (which makes me nervous). One annoying issue with the sound system/SiriusXM is I frequently get “feature not available “ and not able to change stations. Probably due to bad service areas in the mountains.
Hello I ve got a 2023 EV 9 Gt lıne just 3000 km and I ve a constant DC charging problem as ıt select the statıon and ı can not plan long trıps because of thıs. Have you met such a problem? Thx ın advance...😵
I picked up the GT 2 weeks ago. My first EV. Loving the tech. Wish it had walk away locks. Yea the bass could be louder. Thats really my only cons. The tech is wild.
Model X here - air suspension, Falcon Wings, best infotainment, constant updates, and the latest FSD is so good. EV9 was a close second though, very nice car!
Its nice but overpriced. Best bet to buy low mileage secondary market. If Tesla and other EVs secondary price decline holds, then it should offer great value, eventually. Nice reviews. Enjoy it very much as its largely straight to the point and balanced. Thanks!!
@@SammyGeekgreat video. Keep them coming. I agree on the Model X and got my EV9 in late January. “Everyday Reviews” has a good video about driving the EV9 in the snow.
Price is right now, because quite a bit of incentives. Cars have been overpriced and the consumer isn’t biting anymore. Now’s the price is right and now it’s worth buyjng.
The audio at the opening of your videos is truly hideous. You’d do better to have Yoko Ono sing - that’s how irritating it is. Moving past that, thank you for making this video. I can’t help but wonder if you are one of these people ashamed to have a Kia logo or if you seriously think blacking out your vehicle looks good. Anyhow, thanks for affirming the superiority of Kia‘s electric vehicles versus Tesla. Even if I were inclined to give right wing Elon any of my money, he doesn’t sell anything worth having. If I have to choose a favorite, it’s the S - but it’s seriously overpriced. I find it beyond insulting that musk wants you to pay over $100,000.00 to get a drivers display that’s actually in front of the driver. Anyhow, welcome to Kia, who build world-class vehicles at far better prices. Kia’s driver assistance isn’t FSD, but it never kills anybody either. And, they are not trying to bilk you for another $10,000.00 AFTER you’ve bought the car. I own an EV6 and there is most definitely not ANY Tesla I would choose over it. Very simply, it is superior to anything that Elon makes.
Ha, someone made that 6 second intro for me years ago. 100's of thousands of views and never heard anyone comment about intro music, haha! Sorry you don't like it, lol. Yes, the blacked out logos look great and it should have come like that. It's a good family hauler.

For sure, I like how they have a few price points.
I believe Cadillac is making a third row electric Escalade and Hyundai is supposed to release an all electric third row suv later in the year.
The Escalade will be a 6 figure car
loving your stuff man! keep it up.
Thank you!!

Haha, yep....if you're not a brand snob it's a great choice! 😄
Honestly this is more efficient than a Chevy Bolt... How is that?
What's the efficiency of that??
3.6 - 3.8 per KWH sometimes 4 KWH if Dam'n near hypermiling lol
@@SammyGeek If you take the formula 3 wheel mile per kwh x battery charge of 60 KW= 180 range conversely if you're avg 4 kwh per wheel mileage x that by 60kw = 200 mile range. EV9s are averaging about 2.5mi/kwh on the subreddit for dozens of users. Bolts are liky 3.5-4.5mi/kwh. Not even close
Why debadge a Kia ? Are you ashamed ?
Hahaha! It was huge and they should have made it black. Tons of people drive Kia's.
He blacked out his vehicle, that’s why.
You know people debage BMW and Mercedes too, right?
i saw the white one and it's stunning. i'm in seattle, so i'm getting realy tired of teslas.
Haha, yeah...I needed a break from Tesla.

Good post!
I have had Kia's for 20 years, so i'm not surprised it's a great vehicule, still have my 7 seater 2009 Kia Borrego with over 300k on it.
That's awesome! Time will tell how long these EVs last.
Gorgeous electirc SUV from Kia, good job!
I like the futuristic style, but yet flying under the radar of "look at me, I'm saving the world" vibe, 😄 🤣

Haha, for sure...Kia builds a better truck, Tesla is a better EV.
I had a 2019 sorento sx, the thing was made like a tank and drove like one in the heavy canadian snow. I kinda regret trading it for the rx350.
Nice!!
I appreciate your EV9 updates! Can you link the stickers and info regarding the Kia logo blackouts?
For sure, let me drop a video soon on that front.
Great!! I would have loved to see the blacked out KIA logo and the outside of your car with tints..
The tech in this vehicle is very impressive. I love the camera system for lane changes... that's such a game changer. Kia seems to be about the only car manufacturer these days who's actually solving daily driving problems.
Yes, it's a rock solid family hauler.

I took ours out in the Valentines Day storm here in the metro. It handled great!
Awesome!!
Which EV9 trim did you get? I want to know if I get the high one, will the sound system suck?
I did a little video on that. It's mediocre for a premium vehicle. Nothing special but just OK for a premium as I mentioned...
Maybe a B roll of all the customizations you've done while you're describing them would have been great.
Does the heated steering wheel heat the whole thing or just sections, like 3 and 9 o'clock? Does it have a security camera system like Tesla or Rivian?
Whole wheel, it gets toasty.
The whole thing heats up, and NO dash cams. Ridiculous they don't turn those on in the US.
Drove and looked at this. It is very nice. Is it true that the app is only by subscription?
No, app is included. Connectivity is free for mine as well.
The acrylic type plastic that covers the accent lighting on the front is cracking like glass on my ev9 gt line after 1200 miles. Im sure this will start being a more common issue as more miles are put on them.
I'll have to watch out for that!!
Would it be rational to upgrade from an ev6 to a ev9 ?

GT, line! Check out my other EV9 video too!
I mean putting more weight is not a good idea
Model X here - air suspension, Falcon Wings, best infotainment, constant updates, and the latest FSD is so good. EV9 was a close second though, very nice car!
I would never own any other electric car than a Tesla, understanding there just not enough charging stations in long trips

Thanks man! I found the price to be about right...saved me a TON over a Model X and R1S. Cars are so expensive these days, ugh.
