This is the final 6010 practice plate video leading up pipe.
Now that this one is posted, I will also make a playlist of all three videos and include the 5g 6010 downhill video when it posts as well.
Practicing using plate before jumping on pipe can be more efficient because plate is somewhat less expensive and is very easy to prepare for welding.
This one is overhead using 1/8”6010 for the root and 5/32” 7010 for the fill and cap. Хобби
Overhead welding may seem a bit difficult for beginners, but with practice it turns out to be a very easy thing
That could be said about anything in existence

Facts!!!
Andrew is a fricken machine. Im also consistently amazed at the video quality of the welding itself. Seeing exactly whats happening with clear instruction is the best teaching method.
This looks better than my welds on the bench! Thanks for another great video.
loved the slow mo shot of the puddle freezing up!
Excellent arc shot. Had to keep reminding myself this is actually overhead. Great skill.
Dios lo bendiga y siga igual la estoy pulsiando para ser calificado soy no vato mi nombre es Henry soy de Costa Rica
Amazing but I love to join you am in Uganda
Great job guys! Andrew your quite the welder, man! Jody, loving the video quality and overall content! Thank you. Be blessed gentleman!!!
Awesome Im currently working on my overhead position and this video couldn't have been uploaded at a better time for me💯💯
The slow motion arc shots with the explanation is very helpful! 👊🏼🔥👊🏼
Like always another helpful video :) Thanks for making some of the best welding videos on RUclips!
Cheers from the Olympic Peninsula Washington.
Great work! Slowing it down shows those who don't know but those who do understand that it's an intuitive dance that takes lots of practice.
I do so much welding with AC rods trying to run DC rods is a struggle. The heat settings are so different between them and that is so important to how your able to control the puddle.
Im starting to do some light fabrication on my channel and I always learn so much. I’m a beginning welder and I don’t even do pipe but I love these videos and still pick up tips each time! Thanks for your effort
Kevin’s Trooper Channel most people don’t do pipe. It’s a serious speciality.
Thanks for the great video Jody as always you the man👊🏻 great job too Andrew
Watching this cause my welding instructor is useless. Thanks guys
Realest comment 🤦🏻♀️ same here lmao
The best channel welding,a hug here from Portugal 🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹
Incredible welding talent!!!!!!!
Great shots and some slow mo too! Well done. Well done.
Great video Jody
Wow … really nice welding and great video especially the slow motion. Awesome 👍
Awesome videos !
Excellent video
We starting overhead this week, thanks as always for the guidance 👍
Great camera angles. That’s exact what you want to see. Just a tip that helped me out: it can be very easy to miss your steps while you’re capping. Pay attention to the back of that puddle - if you can see a bright white shadow/c shape behind your puddle, it means you’ve got a low spot!
Great video, super shot guys,
Wicked skillful welder,
Wow, you make it look so easy! :-) Great video!
Two excellent welders
All y'all you welders listen to this, 40yr pipe welder, my company let's me teach young welders with potential, this is the same way I have them start out for PIPE, great video!!!
Just started learning overhead, with 6010. Very frustrating. But im still somewhat new to welding.
Amazing skills. Thanks for sharing
Love this video going to watch it over ,and over great job guys , detail with info , and arc shots !
Great job lur

One of the most typical welding job. You nailed it ♥️
Very nice work, thank you for posting/sharing, your right about "very educational" neat how you can learn so much from pros.
Thank you for video!
Excellent instruction.
very good arc control
very nice welding
excellent technique.
Great video
Muy buena clase como siempre superinstructiva
Very good overhead welding sir
Great.. thank you for the videos
Wow very nice job...
Very steady for welding with one hand!
Great video! I wondered if you waited for plate to cool off between passes.💯👍
Informative... well done
Just started learning how to strike an arc (technical school) used an E6010 electrode rod ran on 73 AMPs.
I need to get back to this
Saludos desde la Rep. Dominicana. muy educativo..
Great job guys...go ahead
Excellent!
Hey love ur videos and all the information you’ve gave us has helped me a lot. Im having trouble filling some holes in .040 thickness aluminum. Do you have any short info on that?
Awesome. Thank you guys so much for sharing. I'm learning how to stick weld myself and I love your videos.
Thank you for this video....great contebt
nice slow-moe demo of the cap. 1/16 is possible with that wipe fill technique, very nice control of the puddle...
Nice weld.
Thank you!
Thank you ❤❤❤
Hay I use ur tig finger thing and I love it I’m not that much in to stick welding I only do TIG at work
Very nice ...i like it this welding technique
Excellent welding i like yours skills
6010 is one of my favorite rods
Me too. I like 6010. I like 6011 also.
I never tried them until a few weeks ago. They're really easy to weld with.
Very good 👍
Thank you sir
Much obliged
Can you tell me what you think about using one of those diode bridges on a AC welder to convert to DC, I have a Lincoln 225 AC welder and was wondering if that would work very well,
Overhead welding one of the hardest skills i have ever tried. They make it look easy here but it isnt i still can't make a clean looking over head although i rarely have a job where its needed. This would definitely take routine practice and a very steady hand to do well. But seeing this technique up close can help.
Wow amazing
Nice video!!! On the root pass how far are you jamming the rod into the joint? I don't think I get deep enough. Looks like the end of the rod is at the bottom of the plate.Thank you
Thank you.
Hello, I need some advice..
Can we weld two ISMC 200 on top of each other but in a diagonal splice to act as a structural column?
you boys making it look and sound so easy. i've tried welding it's actually really hard
I do welding it's not hard if u get the right training
It’s a trade that requires a lot of practice and attention to detail. It’s going to take time to find your style of how you weld. If you look around, you’ll see welders with the same technique but the welds look different. It’s like handwriting, we all know how to write words and we all learned how to do it in different ways, but everyone writing looks different. Give it some practice and try new things. Hell, when I started welding, I was taught to drag 6010, after watching some videos and practicing different techniques, I became comfortable with the whip method and I believe my welds look better and are more structurally solid. Don’t be afraid to try new things at all and know you are gonna mess up, when I first started the whip method, my keyholes were so huge for my root that I had to completely restart my joint. After time practice and advice I got better, I’m not perfect but my welds pass xrays and bend tests.
@@colepellegrin5491 that's very cool only thing giving me problem is horizontal it's like no matter hw I try it's not coming out good but I am still practising tho
Perm Head Satiko Gintoki what’s your procedure, do you do a 6010 root and 7018 fill and cap or are you strictly trying to practice just 6010 and what joint are you doing like a 2F or 2G?
@@colepellegrin5491 I use a 6010 rooting rod and 7018 capping rod and it's a 2g position and I use the c technique but it's not working so I decide to do the whipping technique
Nice sir ...
Great video gentlemen, haven't actually watched it yet but I know it'll be a good one, they all are !! I wanted to be the first to post a comment !!I'm just a hobby welder from the UK, been tigging for 10 years on DC, always learn from your videos Jody, just got an AC/DC set so keen to try aluminium...or if you prefer aluminum !! Dave.
Amazing legend
Parabéns gostei das aulas
Superbbbb✌✌👍👍
Jody,
If you have time I have a quick question that came up today while I was practicing.
I was running Hobart 7018 1/8 rods on 1/8 plate just padding beads and trying a few things 110-120 amps
I really started making some beautiful welds when I would rest the flux barely against the base metal and let the rod just run dragging it
I’ve seen all your videos and you talk about a short arc and I’ve never heard you say that’s bad or good to let it touch the base metal
I mean these beads were perfect
I could barely feel the metal dragging on the rod and just let it sink against the metal as the rod burned
Good idea or is that wrong?
Thank you and anyone else that comments
I burned about half a ten pound box today. Haha My 6010 is getting better too
Thank you so much for all you do to help us and if you haVe time to comment thank you for that too
Very good 👍 super nice BrO 😊
Am I the only one that loves the smell of 6010??😍
Muy bien explicado
NICE...!!!
Sou soldador sou seu fã vc muito inteligente show
very good ,
Another great video Jody. I wish my 62 year old eyes could see those details when I'm welding. I know the theory and have the equipment but struggle to see anymore.
Thanks man..
Nice
So for all these rods you'll keep the machine at 90? Cause it still seems too hot an my bead isn't sticking as well.I keep dropping alot of slag.
Did you reverse polarity for the 7010? In structural we use 7010 for welding decking and I can't explain how much better they burn on decking in reverse polarity
I agree but sometimes a welding procedure requires reverse
Saludos desde chile. Rengo 👍👍😎🍻🍻
This is probably a dumb question but I’m using a Miller machine what should my voltage be at
good work, what the electrode?
Man that whip is so far out of the puddle!
My thoughts to, whatever works though
yess, interesting, it alleady DID solidify!
@@paulwyleciol3459 If I recall 6010/7010 rods are classified as fast freezing electrodes. Could be wrong though.
Andrew Cardin is a champion welder having won numerous awards for his welding skill, I'd listen and watch him over anyone else that's for sure, he knows his stuff.
stevo450ify RIGHT !!!! He’s cold ..
OMG so good
