While I only heard a couple songs from their debut album a few years ago, and I wasn't terribly interested, their evolution is absolutely stunning. This entire album is terrific, a joy to listen to. Can you imagine what they'll be doing on their next several albums? They got me hooked.
Tears of Rain is one that gives me "goosies" EVERYTIME ! And Broken Bells is a great one by them too. Josh's voice is fantastic !

Second half of tears of rain is almost like its own song, definitely Josh's standout vocal performance of the album

Highly recommend reacting to their live performances, they're almost always better than the recordings.
Especially the live show they did at Red Rocks. Plus really impressive is Lover, Leaver, Taker, Believer live at Lincoln Hall in 2017 when Josh/Jake were 21 and Sam/Danny were 18 year olds. It's a jam that's fabulous at 5:00 in there is a by play between the vocals and guitar which is not to be believed. Jake's guitar work blows Jimmy Page out of the water.
Thanks! I looked at Heat Above live(off camera) and the sound wasn’t as good as the recording but the vocals and instruments were.

Timing on this reaction is really great, tonight is the first show of their Strange Horizons tour in the US starting with Nashville and ending in October at the iconic Greek Theater in Los Angeles. Great reaction to this song. It's a favourite of mine that I've played so many times. The vocals and guitar are what drew me in from Josh and Jake Kiszka the twins who front the band. Again, thank you 👑❤🎶🔥

Also, imo, they are best live. For example, any of the videos from their Red Rocks Concert (but only if you like a new take on late 60s early 70s rock -- extended psycodelic-like guitar solos and jams -- that kind of thing). Cheers.

You mentioned that you didn't get into "Age of Machine" so you didn't publish that video. When I first heard it, I found it to be very haunting and doomy. Their live in the studio video of the track definitely gives you that vibe and it's a great vocal performance by Josh. Especially his pained lamenting wails towards the end. But, yeah, it can be a heavy, brooding song. I think with songs from "The Battle At The Garden's Gate" you have to listen to them in context. The album is a journey between the dark and the light. It's definitely one of my favorite recent albums.
