You should listen to their album The Battle at Gardens Gate which this song is from. You won’t be disappointed. These young men are wise beyond their years especially with their lyrics. Their music has changed my life.
Their candlelight sessions won’t disappoint. Light My Love and Tears of Rain are absolute masterpieces and really showcases Josh’s vocal abilities
They wrote Highway Tune when they were teenagers. They have really matured musically. So talented!
A great band that is evolving in musicianship and song writing. They are selling out big arenas globally as well as headlining festivals.
Elton John is a mentor. He said they were the best rock band he had seen in 20 years...something to that effect. They look up to him. He has advised them.
They have true talent. They’re amazing in every way.
You're right about Josh; he really sings in his feels, lol. On the live version of Light my Love (not the Candlelight Sessions) he tears up at the end.
I immediately got The Battle at Gardens Gate on vinyl. What a great album!! I’m so grateful to listen to this band evolve and just become some of a my favorite music on this last album.
Seen them in Nashville for my 7th time to start off Starcatcher. Definitely checkout out all their stuff, you won’t be disappointed.
Bet you couldn’t believe this was the same band and singer who did Highway Tune, right? They’ve done many rocking out songs too, but they’re miles above where they were back then. Josh’s voice, to me, has a lot of similarities to that of Jon Anderson of the band Yes, whose music I also love.
Oh, and one last thing, he has gained even more control and vibrancy in his voice than he had when this song was performed, because he’s constantly working at it.

This whole album is fantastic. There’s a few really great harder songs like Highway mixed in but what really makes it shine are these songs. Songs that focus heavily on the music and on lyrics. This song in particular is my favorite off this album. Usually I’m a harder rock kind of guy, but I just so happen to be going through a tough time when this album came out and this song was able to pull me out of it, as well as “Light My Love”. If you want more like it, “Tears of Rain” is another good one off here. As well as “Weight of Dreams”. If you want a couple more songs with a more pure Rock sound then I think you’d enjoy “ Built by Nations” or “Barbarians”.
The live recordings are fantastic! GVT should just stick to live albums because every single song takes on a whole knew everything when they are free to just do their thing.
Light my love almost had me tearing up after a tough week. I just stumbled on GVF last night for the first time!!
This album, Battle At Garden’s Gate, is my favorite album of all time. In my eyes (and ears), the album is perfection. It’s beautiful in every way. You have to react to the rest of the album! Loved the video
They are so good. Danny the drummer kills it on so many songs. They put in a great show too.
All of their songs r great but u should check out the latest songs. U will not b disappointed. Many live shows have drum solos.
This band is a modern version of "Yes". The piano and keyboard work remind me of Rick Wakeman and the singing is Jon Anderson all the way. ANDERSON WAs a small guy too, plus the costumes and capes and shroud. straight out of the Fragile era.
You really need to explore their last LP, The Battle at Garden’s Gate, as well as their newly released album, Starcatcher. You will be floored. They get exponentially better on each album! My favorite band, hands down. If you can make it to a live show, I highly recommend it, because they are better live than any band I have ever seen!

They are very talented and really good. I'm in Chicago too! How about those storms! You ever been to Frankenmuth? That is where they are from. I've been there a couple times...great place. Try their Safari Song and When The Curtain Falls.

Same! I decided to spring for it and got DC and PA...I'm in MD so I'm in the middle. I just found out Madison Square Garden is the night AFTER the DC show and they have a 2 day festival the 2 days prior to the PA show! I don't know whether to be happy about all that or not! LOL

I don't know how old you are but I'm 50. It is so nice to hear someone else appreciate everything you said! So many reactions by "experts" in music nitpick their performances and its ridiculous. I (we) don't always worry about every single note and effect being perfect...sometimes its just about the song itself...all if it. This is absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing...vocally and lyrically unmatched in todays music.
Somewhere along the the way I developed a love of what the electric guitar is capable of. What Jake does here is an example. If I get the chills because the sound touches my soul...thats it, easily on my top songs ever list.

I've been a fan for years now and have had the pleasure of watching these boys grow and evolve, by leaps and bounds. They're all incredibly talented, and amazing people. Highway Tune seems so long ago, they're a million miles from that now. I had to laugh when you mentioned the outfits and Elton John, because he's a big fan of theirs, and he gave them the advice to "flaunt what they've got" lol Check out more, you absolutely won't regret it!
Edit: I thought I'd mention the Greta and The Warning are on the same record label!

I grew up with Led Zeppelin Blue Oyster Cult,ELP, Deep Purple and I saw these boys in 2016 and was smitten! They have grown into superior Muscians. They are phenomenal live.

I didn't know that they liked him. Even more respect for them now. I did a John Denver reaction on the anniversary of his passing. Really liked him.
Excellent sound! Like you said all the instruments and his voice flow together so well. The guitar and piano, the deep drum beat, and then the way his voice enters back into the song. There isn't any part of this song I don't like.

How’s your band doing?
.Whether you think Greta Van Fleet is derivative or not, they put on a fantastic, high-energy, old-fashioned rock and roll show. It's nice to see a new generation being able to experience that for themselves. And the last time we checked, Led Zeppelin isn't touring anytime soon. I love hearing young bands play 70’s style music with a modern twist. Don’t be ridiculous, they do not use AI. They have been writing songs since 2012.
