As I said in the live chat: a friend of mine from work, he and his wife went to Frankenmouth, MI back before the pandemic hit. My co worker said they were in a small shop, his wife found something Greta Van Fleet and took it up to the register to buy it. There was a young guy talking to the shop owner, and when he saw what it was my friends wife was buying, he asked "would you like me to sign that for you?"
Turns out he was one of the guys in Greta Van Fleet, who are from Frankenmouth. The shop owner said he used to work in the shop as part-time help before the band got big, and was a good hard-working kid, as was the whole band.
It's nice to hear that some good kids have made it big 🙂

Thier music is all about peace, love and unity. They have made me want to be a better person. Josh is a ray of sunshine. You won’t be disappointed to anything you hear by them, they are brilliant musicians all self taught. I subscribed because I know you will listen to more GVF.

Great reaction. It’s amazing how great these guys are live. Josh and Jake (lead guitar) are identical twins. Younger brother Sam is on keys but is also the bass player. When he is on keys, he plays the bass line on foot pedals. It’s a talented family. The drummer is a childhood friend who was a guitar player but switched to drums to join the band.
They have a new album coming out in July and I’d love to hear your reaction to their new stuff.

Hope to see more reactions to Greta Van Fleet - a lot to uncover here. To start I would suggest “Heat Above” or “Light My Love” (both from The Battle at Garden’s Gate). Something a bit harder would be “Built By Nations” (also from the same album). The Battle at Garden’s Gate is their latest album (2021). They also released an EP and an LP prior to this. Their next album, Starcatcher, will be released July 21, from which 4 singles have already been released.

Don’t forget Weight Of Dreams. Battle at Garden’s Gate is my favorite album of all time. Every song is a masterpiece in its own right!! My friend @kurbo19 is spot on with Heat Above and Light My Love (which is actually my favorite from them)

The Kiska Dad is a musician, as well. Mom and Dad Kiska didn't allow their 3 sons to play video games as they were growing up, instead encouraging them to go outside or read or listen to music. Dad, a chemist who plays music and Mom is a school teacher.
Josh figured out that voice when one day while practicing in the garage he wanted to be heard over the instruments. The band stopped anc looked at one another and Jake proclaimed quietly, "That's it. I think we've found the voice."
Im 59 and grew up about 30 miles from their hometown. Gotta say, they've got IT!

My BBF since 9th grade and her husband live in Frankenmuth and the Kiszka boys and Danny Wagner are well known for being great kids, not only for their music, but from their part time jobs as teens. They were so young when they started their moms had to accompany them because they were minors. Their moms told a story about after they played at an Elton John party, he suggested they change their look from jeans and t-shirts to something more theatrical, which is what we see now especially in their videos. My hairdresser’s daughter asked her parents to take her to a GVF concert and they became fans too. Their live performances are amazing! They have a new album coming out in a few days titled Starcatcher. Other songs you may want to check out are Heat Above, Age of Machine, Black Smoke Rising from The Battle at Garden’s Gate.

I almost spit my coffee out when you said, “ I need all of you to be my sherpas…” because Josh, the singer, always says “Jake (guitarist and his identical twin) will be our rock n roll Sherpa…” These guys are the real thing, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, but I think you’ve been around enough to know that when you see it. 😉 Josh has one of the best vocal coaches around, Ron Browning, who helped him with breath control and also how to preserve his fantastic voice for as long as possible with good habits right now. His actual speaking voice is much deeper. Weight of Dreams is another excellent choice, with another great guitar solo as well.

Please react to the rest of that album, you won’t be disappointed. Aside from that album - Black Smoke Rising, Safari Song, Highway Tune, you really can’t go wrong with anything these guys put out.
You asked us to fill you in (twss) - Josh (singer) and Jake (guitarist) are twins, their younger brother, Sam, is on the keys and the bass, and their best friend, Danny, is on the drums! Fun fact about Danny - he plays 9 instruments, he just learned the drums because the brothers needed a drummer.
Not a single one of them has ever had a single music lesson, all self taught.
This band is incredible. It takes special music to affect people emotionally and spiritually.

“These guys get into me as much as I get into them, it seems. It’s like a symbiotic, organic, dynamic relationship, the way I’ve evolved in my understanding of these guys and their music.”
I heard someone say this while listening to GVF and I found it to be an incredibly well put explanation of how this band and their music weaves itself deep into you and the emotional/spiritual impact it has on the soul. What beautiful music!!

I I absolutely loved your term, and the way you used the word Sherpa. This is some thing that Josh says quite frequently in their life performances just before the song, titled weight of dreams… Which I think you would dig. Additionally, I’ve seen a lot of GVF reaction videos. I have yet to hear anybody. Compare joshes vocals with Barry Gibb. I believe he would love that of all of the comparisons that reaction viewers put out there. I honestly believe that if you’ll dig a little deeper into these young men…you will be a fan! Great reaction. Thanks for you knowledgeable and thoughtful response 🤘
