FYI: The singer, Josh, is the twin brother of the guitar player. The one on organ is their younger brother. The drummer, Danny, has been friends with them since childhood. They all grew up in Frankenmuth, Michigan. They've performed at sold-out stadium shows around the world.
Welcome to the club….these guys don’t have a bad song and are actually just as good live as they are on their albums. Yes, they are named after an elderly Dutch lady from their small town. They are three Kiszka brothers…Josh (lead singer) and Jake (guitar) are identical twins. Younger brother Sam plays bass and keys and their childhood friend Danny Wagner is the drummer. This is an amazing song but i love every song. Try “Age of man”, “Meeting the master”. Also highly recommend watching their Red Rocks concert that they put up on RUclips (it’s in several parts) and you will be amazed.
It never gets old seeing someone find instant joy in this band as soon as they start playing and Josh starts singing. The fanbase around this band is really unique in the way that it truly is bringing people together of all ages and walks of life untied in the love and appreciation for one band and music in general. The older seem to all relate to reconnecting with their youth and feeling joy and nostalgia for the era these guys are trying to bring back into the mainstream. While younger people are discovering a whole new genre and world of music they hadn’t previously known about or looked into much and are becoming fans through this band. I know a lot of fellow fans younger than me who who have basically gone bananas after hearing them and ended up binging two decades worth of older music. Then, there’s the people who were raised and grew up listening to music like this regardless of age and are just happy that it seems to be coming back. There is just a melting pot of all sorts of fans who are all different and that’s the beauty of what this band was trying to achieve. Peace, love, and unity are just a few pillars of what they stand for and why many people can’t get enough of them. I think in some ways modern music has lost a lot of those things as the years have past and the current generations have forgotten what the purpose of making music is about and I love that this is bringing that back to attention and it’s making them stand out quite a bit. They are absolutely mind blowing alive, you really should check out their live performances for sure. 😄
Age of Man, live at Red Rocks from a few years ago is quite possibly the best concert anthem song ever!! Worth a second look into your new found fantastic band!
So loved watching you witness them for the first time. ❤️ They are amazing! They are even better live, if you can believe it. They use no back tracks, no voice enhancement, etc. Just amazing and such great humans as well!
How lovely that you too have been moved by this beautiful music. When I first heard this on the radio I was mystified. It seemed slightly familiar. I thought it was Rush, then realized that wasn't possible. I've been a fan since then and have taken my adult daughters to see them live. Best concert I've ever been to, bar none. Enjoy!
I’ve been to and worked security for a ton of concerts over my 52 years and I do believe their concert was the absolute best live performance I’ve ever seen, it is an unbelievable experience
As a younger millennial I don’t often listen to what is now called “oldies” music but when I do I am always shocked by the unique way the music can draw me in. This… this song is Amazing and has many of the best aspects of 70’s music with modern recording. I love it!
Also, yes, they can perform live! Josh (and the rest of the band) sound the same if not even better. I literally cried tears of joy hearing the live for the first time!!!
I so enjoyed watching this. Your reaction took me back to how I felt the first time I heard their music almost five years ago. I am 62, and have seen them perform live four times. I will continue to see them perform live as long as I am able, as they are incredible live musicians. I will look forward to enjoying more of your reactions as you dive into their music. Enjoy!
Thank you! I'm about the same age as you, and I really feel like I've stumbled onto something special. I had no idea that so many people had already discovered them. Cheers!
I have seen them twice this tour (both over 15,000 people in attendance) & my friends still say, "Who?" when I tell them what concert I went to, lol... you aren't the only one! I always look around and think...these people (The Peaceful Army) get it. @@BustingtheBox
Welcome to rhe fandom! Been following these incredible boys since 2018. They are so amazing live! I hope you get to see them someday! They will fill your heart with love! ❤
All of the feelings you felt watching GVF for the first time are exactly what I felt when I first heard them a couple of years ago. Their fans range in age from very young to the gray-haired set…when you watch some of their live videos you’ll see a truly age-diverse audience rocking out and feeling the love. I’m a 66-year-old woman who loves the message, the music and these smart, talented, funny and wise young men. You’ll not be disappointed by their live performances or their body of work. Enjoy your GVF journey! I really loved your reaction.
Thank you, Laura. And thanks for the great comments. I'm excited to explore more of their music and do reactions, which I'll do within the next week or so, once I stop traveling. Cheers!
Please say you've watched a live video and watched some more of their songs! I'm 53 years old and they've allowed me to fall in love with music all over again! So much raw talent! I'm blessed to have ears to hear them with. ❤️
I've only watched Heat Above. I still don't know anything about the band, which is intentional because I want to document my Greta Van Fleet journey as it unfolds. I'm really impressed so far, however. Cheers!
You must go down the rabbit hole to see how far they have come. Listen to all their EPs/albums. AND they are incredible live. My first concert I floated out of there on a cloud. The love is real. They have changed my life and many others as well. Difficult to articulate the effect they have. I am 62 and have never been captivates like this.
Yes! We (The Peaceful Army of Greta Van Fleet ☺️) don’t know exactly what it is that drew us in the first time we heard them, but we know it’s a powerful force, from which we don’t wish to escape!😄
I wonder what this is, Michelle. I felt it too when I heard Heat Above. I haven't listened to anything else, because I want to react to their songs, but I'm really looking forward to experiencing more of their songs. Cheers!
Im 63 too! They are wonderful!! The singer and guitarist are twins...the bassist/keyboardist is their younger brother. Their good friend on drums! From Frankenmuth Michigan!
Saw them at TD in september. They are even BETTER in person, believe it or not. the vocals, the guitar, the drums in your heart. It was magic. Best night of my life so far. Like you said I felt high, like too much oxygen. Truly euphoric. I really feel like I witnessed something special, history be made.
Interesting tidbit. Jake Kiszka’s guitar solo in Weight of Dreams was named the best guitar solo of the 21st century by the readers of Total Guitar. Way to go Jake! ❤
I saw them in September in Saint Paul and their live performance was otherworldly and brought me so much joy I can’t describe it with words. I’m so happy to have their music in my life.
I subscribed to your channel to hopefully see you go down the rabbit hole with more GVF first reaction videos!! I am 58 and found this band a few months ago. I am obsessed. I felt the same way you expressed when I first heard them. This band is better live. Check their “Live at Red Rocks concert” (The song Age of Man will blow your mind!) The Candlelight Sessions are truly intoxicating! This band is a gift to our generation. I am very grateful! Start with their older music (they are compared with Led Zeppelin with some of their older songs) up to their current. They have come a long way and it’s all incredible. I feel proud they are from my home state of Michigan! Something very special for sure! Have fun. GVF will keep you wanting more! Older songs “Highway tune” they wrote it in high school. Safari song, Black Smoke Rising, When the Curtain Falls (live on Jimmy Fallon) You’re The One, My Way Soon, Built by Nations, Light My Love all leading into their latest album release Starcatcher. meeting the Master, The Falling Sky, Sacred the Thread! Cheers my friend and welcome to the Peaceful Army !!!❤
They are so great! My favourite band. Fav songs: age of machine, the barbarians, age of man, lover leaver, meeting the master, watching over, and many many more.... Going to see them live in UK next month. 🩵
Yes, that’s the feeling they give all of us. I teared up watching you discover their talent. This is my favorite song ever written and I am 48. How lucky are we to be alive at the same time as the Kiszka brothers and Danny Wagner? ❤❤
If you want to hear them live, you MUST listen to their candlelight sessions - light my love or broken bells will be right up your alley. Great video, cheers!
@@BustingtheBox There is some good footage of their live concerts from this years tour too! The new phones make capturing this stuff really great. I reccomend watching Heat ABove live at TD garden, i can't stop going back to it. Theres some more nuance to the guitar and the vocals are even more powerful. His voice is still getting stronger.
Holy! New Rabbit Hole! Nice! .... I look for new music Daily, never heard of them. Thank you for deciding to react! The world is BOTH a much Larger Place than we know and at the Same Time a much Smaller Place than we know.
Funny you should mention that elderly Dutch woman, because that’s who they took their name from, of course (Gretna, actually, but they changed it a bit)! 😁
@@BustingtheBox She is an 88 year-old bluegrass musician. A friend of the band mentioned he was going to her house to chop wood (I think). They needed a name quickly because they were entering a contest, so they asked for permission, dropped the "n" and went with it. Now her band is getting much more attention too...
google "Greta van Fleet name origin", and you will find a article of the woman! She even met the band and has a autographed picture of them in her home when they visited.

They help me daily with their beautiful message. You've felt a tiny peice of it. You owe to your very soul to delve deeper. Your heart, mind and soul will thank you. Great reaction! They are even better live. I liked them a lot before, but became obsessed after seeing them play live. (Age of man - live at Red Rocks, Weight of dreams - live at PinkPop 2022, Broken bells candlelight sessions)
I’ve been a fan of theirs for 2 years and haven’t gone a day without listening to them and I really feel like a different person. Their music really is fantasmigorical!!! You will not be disappointed in what you hear!

Hey, Busting the Box! I loved watching you see this intoxicating specialness. That's how I felt when I recently discovered GVF. You have a great journey ahead of you. They have so many great songs; and YES they're as good live, if not better than in their studio versions!
Thanks, Holly. I'm really looking forward to exploring more of their work now that I've just returned home. Others have also mentioned how good the band is live. I'm really looking forward to seeing for myself! Cheers!
I've seen probably almost all of the reactions on RUclips to the song and I think that this is my favorite reaction so far. Everything that you've said is so eloquently said and seeing how giddy are and the questions that you have make me really enjoy this video. I look forward to to seeing more from you reacting to this band.
I live in SOCAL and flew up to Seattle to take a friend of mine to Climate pledge arena. I have been following GVF for a few years now andI had very high expectation on the show, from sound to visuals. and in both categories they by far exceeded both. This band will leave their mark in music history as one of the greatest...
@@BustingtheBox Indeed, my personal favorites are "Weight Of Dreams" Black Smoke Rises", the live candlelight sessions they did, and ANY live video on their channel
Your review got me to click subscribe. You get it! Your questions hit on all the things GVF excels in: live performance, hit song writing ability, natural recordings vs over produced studio work. And best of all, these guys are grounded and it’s more about the love of making music than fame and fortune.
Thank you for this review. To answer your questions at the end. Yes to all. Saw them live this past summer thanks to my daughter. It brought such a nostalgic feel to “the old stuff” and they were incredible live. There’s about 4 or 5 songs I rotate in my head as to my favorite and their best work. This is one of them. Again thanks!
Black Smoke Rising, You’re The One, Flower Power, Light My Love, Mountain Of The Sun, Meet The Master, Broken Bells. Other folks will probably add Highway Tune and Safari Song (which I like) but the aforementioned tracks clearly have “their own sound” even though you could probably identify multiple influences on their music. Peace
Welcome to having found this amazing group. Josh voice together with their other guys is so lifting and filled with love . Soon on their europe tour and they will smash it! (Twinbrothers, one younger brother and then their friend on drums)
Can they perform live?? YOU HAVE NO IDEA. They are even better live. They've been touring (less the pandemic) for roughly 10 years. Their live performance is the best I've ever seen. I'm 51, btw, so I've seen a few... If you can, go see them. You'll fit right in. Their fans are from Tweens to us old farts. 😀 Seriously, see them live. They will blow you away.
I’d love to hear more of your reactions to more of GVF songs I just found them in May of this year I’ve seen them live in September They re brothers raised on the Blues by parents who just let them soar Loved your reaction
I'm glad you discovered them. I can't wait to get to more of their music. I've still only heard Heat Above. I'm going to do another reaction soon. Cheers!
The band reminds me of "early" Boston, say More Than a Feeling album, A Man I'll Never Be .... mixed with Journey... Faithfully. ... only..... more upbeat. LOL
When might you be able to do another one? Could you review them performing Weight of Dreams please? (Live at PinkPop 2022 is really amazing and is in HD4)
Just discovered your channel and subscribed---your reaction was exactly like mine, and at 65 it's so refreshing to hear something new and fresh. They do hearken back to some sounds from my youth buy with a theatrical twist.Theyre so talented they don't need gimmicks but the way they present themselves is great fun.Looking forward to more reactions (Must ask:Are you from Canada?I'm in Wisconsin and hear a bit of an accent!)
Listen to their candlelight session if you want to watch a good live song by them. There are three to choose from and they're all fab but Broken Bells is my favorite 😊. I've not seen them live but they are supposed to be amazing in person, many people say even videos of them live doesn't do it justice, i really hope to see them in person myself one day.
I'm 70 years old and this band makes me very happy. So glad good music is still being made.

@BustingtheBox 3 brothers...singer and guitarist are twins...bassist/keyboardist their younger brother and friend on drums!
You'll love all of their songs
Very introspective stuff at times
I feel like I've inadvertently struck a rich vein of gold and can't wait to mine it.
@@BustingtheBox Indeed, my personal favorites are "Weight Of Dreams" Black Smoke Rises", the live candlelight sessions they did, and ANY live video on their channel
Such a confident, mature composition from such young guys. Awesome.
Your review got me to click subscribe. You get it! Your questions hit on all the things GVF excels in: live performance, hit song writing ability, natural recordings vs over produced studio work. And best of all, these guys are grounded and it’s more about the love of making music than fame and fortune.
I'm excited to react to more of this band. Thanks for your comments!
Thanks. More reactions coming up soon! I'm excited to explore more from this band! Cheers!
Peace
Love your reaction. Yes, they are a great band, enjoy!
Welcome to having found this amazing group. Josh voice together with their other guys is so lifting and filled with love . Soon on their europe tour and they will smash it! (Twinbrothers, one younger brother and then their friend on drums)
I’m 29 and I feel connected to this song the same way as you ! Great reaction ! I subscribed.
Cheers from Medellín, Colombia.
Everyone who watches my reactions tells me how good they are live. I'd love to see them.
I’d love to hear more of your reactions to more of GVF songs
I just found them in May of this year
I’ve seen them live in September
They re brothers raised on the Blues by parents who just let them soar
Loved your reaction
I'm glad you discovered them. I can't wait to get to more of their music. I've still only heard Heat Above. I'm going to do another reaction soon. Cheers!
Welcome to the rabbit hole! And yes, they're monumentally better live.
Hard to imagine. I can't wait!
They are so precious
I LOVE THESE GUYS. Discovered them when they played at Red Rocks! I like your channel! New subscriber!❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕💕
The band reminds me of "early" Boston, say More Than a Feeling album, A Man I'll Never Be .... mixed with Journey... Faithfully. ... only.....
more upbeat. LOL
Thanks for the introduction! Kind of reminds me of Styx ❤️✌🏻🫶🏻
Check out all their work, greatest rock band in the world. Way better live…
Trust me, we all have this experience with this song lol it’s literally a religious experience 😂
Seriously. It's almost like a calling.
yes, yes, yes - very good band
Josh is a crystal clear live❤
I just traveled from Brazil to Lisboa just to see them and it was epic! Much better than I could dream.❤❤❤❤
Your reaction brought me immense joy!!
you smile says everithin!! they are Great!!
When might you be able to do another one? Could you review them performing Weight of Dreams please? (Live at PinkPop 2022 is really amazing and is in HD4)
Coming right up, Susan. I've been traveling for the last couple of weeks but am just about done. Cheers!
Great song. One of my favorites.
Awesome live band
Can they perform live? You better believe it!!! 🙏♥️🙏
You really check out Broken Bells from the same album
Need to react to their Meeting the Master from new LP
Protect these boys at all costs!! Love his voice and the music.
New subscriber here!! Do more!!
Thanks for subbing! I'm really looking forward to exploring more of their songs.
Also an actual "elderly" dutch woman😅
Great band.❤❤❤
Frankenmuth Michigan just isn't about Christmas and Chicken!
I know you'd appreciate Asaf Avidan, The Labyrinth Song. It's a sad song of self-discovery, but true art, especially when you know the mythology.
Thanks, Grimm, I'll add that to my list.
Will you now be reacting to more of their music?
I hope so! They have about 3 albums and an early EP. Also youtube has videos of them and their early work.
I sure will, Susan. I'm excited to get to more of their music. I'm traveling right now but will do a reaction very soon!
Whaaaat ? 😂😂😂😂 Thanks for the reaction
Heat Above is the Greta gateway drug. There is the time before you heard it, and then ever since.
