This 71 year old has heard it all from the time rock’n roll began in the 50’s to now. I have not heard an album this epic, cinematic and powerful in at least three decades. These four young men and their producer have created a rock album masterpiece of seismic proportions. "Imagine seeing this guitar solo live, it'll melt your brain". Yep, that's exactly what it does live. It was SO surreal, SO deafeningly loud (in a good way though), and SO exciting. Easily one of the highlights of seeing them live is hearing the solo in the Weight of Dreams. I really hope you get to see them live one day, it's an experience beyond belief.

I had the privilege to witness "the weight of dreams" solo live in Atlanta and it did absolutely melt my brain. It was truly a moment caught in time and being able to see and hear such musical talent that came from Jake (and the rest of the guys during the show) during the solo was just amazing. My friends and I really enjoyed your videos, welcome to the peaceful army!

I saw them when they came to Knoxville it was the most electric concert I’ve ever been to when they hit weight of dreams the crowd was so electric that he hit that last riff and Josh started singing again but jake just ripped through it and kept shredding they played this song for legitimately 17 minutes it was so intense

You should react to black flag exposition live from the red rocks performance. It is the same song as the weight of dreams but with different lyrics before they released it as the weight of dreams. It is absolutely breath taking

It was really a fascinating opportunity to literally watch what was at first a brief interlude in their live set grow and morph into the mind-melting experience that became the Weight of Dreams. We were able to WATCH them write that song- and then they took it into the studio and perfected it.
Before the Garden's Gate was even released, Black Flag Exposition was hands down one of my favorites. Most of us had our fingers crossed that it would be put on the next album. And Greta did not dissapoint.

Seriously one of the best ends to an album I've heard in a long long time. It's such a gorgeous song. The opening alone just gives me chills
The whole song itself is like one long epic poem and its flow is simply sublime 👌❤ whenever I'm listening to this album while doing something I always find myself stopping whatever it is I'm doing just to quietly listen to the opening, and the big guitar solo climax. Just splendid 😩

I love this track, I see the solo blew you away. They do have live versions of this out there that are even longer. This was originally called "Black Flag Explosion" and they did it live at Red Rocks. Well, you have completed the album, now you need to check out some of their older stuff, but live versions. Back in the good ol' days of vinyl - you rushed home and put the record on and read the lyrics and studied the cover all at once - it created such a connection to the album.
This song and Jake’s guitar solo are two of the things I’m most looking forward to for their upcoming tour next year for the shows I am going to! Loved this whole series you did! I’m hoping this leads you to some of their older stuff too, specifically Age of Man (the live video from Red Rocks is incredible!). Either way, I’ve really enjoyed your reactions!

Before The Battle at Gardens Gate was released they would play a portion of this song at shows and call it Black Flag Exposition - HIGHLY recommend watching it (and the rest of the concert) from their performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater! :) They have the whole concert posted on their channel, this song is in Act 3. Love these videos, hope you get to witness them live!!!
Led Zeppelin has Stairway to heaven as one of their iconic songs, Greta Van Fleet has this one Weight of dreams. I'm barely watching this reaction, now there is one band that very little have reacted to and it's called The Black Keys there is one song in particular called The Weight of love, that guitar solo at the end of will take you out of this world. It did melt my brain when I saw them live.
When you said that solo will melt your face live you don't know how accurate you were! I got see them last year in LA and it was hands down the best thing I have ever experienced in my life. We were partying with Lucy as we thought that would be appropriate for some good rock.. Me, my husband and our friends' jaws were on the floor the whole show and when Jake played the solo we were in another dimension and kept saying our faces were completely melted, but in a good way of course. Leaving the theater was so surreal. Seeing them again in November and the anticipation is beyond excitement. If anyone reading this ever questioned seeing them live (idk who would but ya never know) just know it's a trip to another world for a few hours and something you'll go back to constantly to reminisce. Great review!

Going to see Greta Van Fleet in March. Going to be life changing. I have seen KIX, Tesla, Jackyl, Slaughter, Warrant, etc. I cannot WAIT. This band and album were the fresh air all of us needed during the long pandemic. Never will forget the first time I heard Heat Above at release; I shit gold. But the pause was absolutely creative and fun, I thought the solo was too long and repetitive, in my opinion. You don't see much slow pauses like that. But anyway.
P.S. I would love you to react to an Aerosmith album, either Toys in the Attic or Rocks.

Fantastic guitar solo. Jake can be compared to big guitar players as Slash, Mark Knopfler, Kirk Hammett and others. He is really great. Incredibile song.

YIPPEE - I was waiting anxiously for this - this track is epic and I think the dip and flow works in the context of the song. That mid song bridge seems needed to this- possibility of peace?The guitar solo represents to me the Battle. And the glorious way of gently adding the acoustic guitar if you want to interpret the intent is either love and peace being restored after the battle or sadly relinquishing the fight. I think because long before they recorded this for TBAGG it was a staple jam of their concerts under a different name and they always did that cool drum roll. They really have a lot of love for their fanbase

I love listening to Greta Van Fleet and all their songs are my favorite... though I think Broken Bells is top for me but only barely.

One of my favorite things about this album is how self referential it is, both towards itself and the previous album. I'll give a few examples:

The reason they slowed it is because this song used to just guitar working title "Black Flag Exposition". Then, they wrote the lyrics and added to it with the 2nd half and this song morphed into "Weight of Dreams" Thank you for playing their music!

"This is a song you stop the concert for and the guitarist goes out" haha! The Weight Of Dreams actually used to be called Black Flag Exposition, it was a piece they wrote for jake (guitarist) to transition songs or for a little intermission during the show, they played it all the time but never released it, then a few years later they switched up the lyrics and ended out TBAGG with it, wicked moment listening to the album and FINALLY having that guitar in a song on my phone!!!! You should absolutely react to the BFE live at red rocks version!

I’d be interested in what you think about the bridge after listening to the song several times. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. It builds such anticipation for that epic guitar solo I know is coming. To me it seems like a perfect transition. I can’t remember my initial reaction, before I knew what was coming after. The reason why they slow it down in the middle is because the song was originally developed as a live exposition piece, and that is the part where Sam switches from bass to keys during their live performances.

@@tunesidig I've seen it live three times, the first time being way back in 2019 when it was still called "Black Flag Exposition" before the song was reworked into "The Weight of Dreams" for the new album. It's definitely something you should experience if you have the chance.
@@tunesidig If you do get a chance to see them live, you should also watch out for a similar changeover during "Broken Bells" in which Sam gets an extended keyboard solo so that Jake can switch from an acoustic guitar to an electric one for the guitar solo.
