Tonight i revisited a band that i have only heard once a year ago and that is Greta Van Fleet and their song Heat Above. I had lots of comments come in telling me that these are much more than just a Led Zeppelin soundalike and that theyre a great band in their own right, so i thought id go back and have a listen!

It is a good day when a Greta reaction pops up on my recommends. I love this song because it’s just so unique. It’s a song about battle and war, and fire and death, yet it’s sung with a very hopeful tone. It gives you the sense that through all the bad, people will stand together and support each other and love each other and that’s exactly what I feel we need more of in this world now more than ever.
Masterpiece
A song of hope and healing is exactly what they say they were going for with Heat Above. The lead singer and the guitarist are identical twins, and the keyboardist/bassist is their younger brother, and the drummer is considered close enough to be also a brother. They twins just turned 26 and the other two are around the same age, 23, I think. They’ve already come a long way over the past few years, and I’m glad you decided to give them another chance, thanks!

To their critics I say...Greta Van Fleet sounds like Greta Van Fleet, and they are the saviors of Rock! I want to say what some people may and probably will say, they are copying so and so with that and that, like the Zeppelin comparisons...WRONG...they are giving us their music and emulating their influences, from vocal patterns, guitar riffs and changes to strings, choral arrangements....BRAVO young men, well done!!! Great reaction, it definitely is a feel good song. It's impossible to not have a smile on your face while listening to it. Their whole newest album is very good, a few I'd recommend in particular are "Age of Machine", "Built by Nations", "The Barbarians", and "Broken Bells". A few other songs I'd recommend that are from their earlier works are "Age of Man", "When the Curtain Falls", "Black Smoke Rising", and "Flower Power".
The song made you feel good, and that's the whole reason they make music. Thank you for the reaction.
Their latest album is a great creation, very reminiscent of the 70s. Their music is formed from many influences while creating their own sound. All members have vast improvement over ealier efforts.
They have always sounded like the best parts of 70s rock but mixed with original lyrics

Great reaction Tommy! Their new album is great. I saw them live last year and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen! And that's saying something since I am 62. Definitely go see them when they come to your area! You will be amazed!

im glad you enjoyed this! it's easy to be swept along when people take a disliking to something, irrational or otherwise. a lot of people seem to have been turned against them before actually listening. it's cool when people give them a chance.

It's magical
Always funny to hear a band critiqued for "sounding like LZ" when Zep ripped off tons from blues and other bands in developing their own sound. Instead of enjoying these (then teens in their more Zep-sounding tunes) for the style they chose to ground themselves in, the cultists who bemoan the death of rock tried to kill these young rockers. As happens, as ZP and many great bands, they took from the past and began to evolve. The talent they have is INSANE. But mob mentality tends to rule these days. So much stupid.
I really enjoyed this video. Your insight on the music theory made we appreciate it in a whole new way. After hearing it probably 100 times and performing it on acoustic multiple times, pointing simple things out can really reinvigorate my enthusiasm for a song I know inside and out and have started to become unimpressed by. Thank you for that.

At least GVF is the only great new band out there! They are extremely talented! Try When The Curtain Falls! His voice is magnificent!

If you do not know about other new talented bands does not mean that they do not exist. GVF also did not immediately become famous, their trip is already 10 years this year, they are not so new after 10 years of their existence as a band.
Hey, as a fellow GVF lover I can tell you there are plenty of other great new bands too! The Lemon Twigs, Rival Sons, King Gizzard are my favorite other new bands. (Especially the Lemon Twigs, they're not as well known as the other two but I think they're some of the most talented young musicians in the world)

I’m a huge Greta fan, but there are some fantastic new bands popping up lately, one in particular who contacted me because the admire GVF as well and want to give that same 70’s vibe, and they are Lonely Blue from Turin (Torino) Italy. They have an EP out already, “Water” and a new single just out, “Men for Free.” I love their music!
You might want to check out Broken Bells from the same album.

Not falsetto....actually easier to watch him sing to definitely see than anything. Check a true live performance.. about a dozen of them out there.
Problem with live videos is they often get blocked unfortunately, but it’s something I could definitely check out away from the camera

Greta Van Fleet is Led Zeppelin 2.0? A thousand other bands tried to be LZ before these guys were even born. Not a slight to GVF either. This actually reminds me of Rush Closer to the Heart.
