  • This will explain how to back flush the system to clear debris in the valve. Caution: Make sure you have 2 people working with proper communication during this process. One person turning the water on and off at the main valve and one person watching the tub/shower valve area. Make SURE the water is off before you start working on the shower cartridge removal. Be careful because a LOT of water may come out of the main valve body when you do this. Have the curtain or door closed or attach a shop vac hose to the main valve body to divert the water down to the drain. If it is a "Shower Only" installation, hook the water hose up to the shower head arm.

Thanks for sharing! I had replaced my cartridge but still had no water coming. Luckily I went through all the comments on one of your other videos and came across your link to this one. Helped me get my valve clear again!

Mike, question. My issue is that ONLY the shower volume is bad, the tub faucet is insanely high, probably too high. If the issue is only the shower head volume, do you think what you have described here, and the other video with the weird little filter cone, could address that? Thanks in advance, these videos are giving me hope.

Going to try it today! I’ve wasted so many days at this job trying to figure it out- I didn’t want to replace the whole valve - should I take off the shower head as well?

You should at least take it off to check for particles that may be restricting the flow of the head. Post an update when you are done. And be careful to be safe, so you don't cause water damage.
