Very Helpful, Thank you!!! My son called me asking how to replace this cartridge. I found your video and walked him through it.

Thank You! When I pulled the cartridge out of the valve body it came apart and the springs dropped into the wall. Delta has a video that shows a model that has the springs and seals going directly into the valve body and not the cartridge. When the springs flew I was watching where they were going and not where they came from. The new springs weren’t going directly into the valve body without additional parts that I never saw. The parts that Delta showed needed to be special ordered and would not have worked. I was was lucky to have found your video. I had bought a new cartridge, springs, and seats. After watching your video I lubed up the old cartridge, installed the new springs and seals. 10 minutes later I was back in business with a great working system and I can return the new cartridge for a refund. If it wasn’t for your video I would have probably replaced the complete valve assembly. This would require cutting a hole in the living room wall and several swear words 😊

    Thanks Tim.
Slow leak at tub spout when valve was closed. The tub was not used very often and was installed 3 years ago. Your video was the only one I found that fully explained how to repair and service the valve. Very good work as you enabled old electrician to fix plumbing without flooding the house.

Thanks Tim! I just installed a new Delta Universal Valve that came with this cartridge. After installing and tested, we realized that the cold water won't shut off. You video helped to identify the issue as a missing o ring inside. Lowes was kind enough to give me the replacement kit so I did not have to deal with Delta customer service. Thanks again!

Thanks for explaining about the springs and rubber seals inside the cartridge.
No one else did in their videos; and I was getting frustrated because from the start of a new install, the water would not turn off!
Turned out the sealed box with everything unopened, apparently had a cartridge where someone in the factory forgot to put them in.
If you had not explained the importance of them, I wouldn't have figured it out as quickly, seeing as I had never installed one of these myself!
Thanks again for the detailed, extra explanation.
    You're a good teacher!

Thanks for this video. It gave me the confidence to open the cartridge and clean out the debris jamming the hot water intake. A lot of the other videos on RUclips merely assume you will need to replace the entire cartridge when repairing the cartridge is the better option.

Men you will know it now, you save my life, i have this system on my house in Puerto Rico (delta one) but just one line is use an I bought that same cartridge with the whole faucet and it turns that using one line (hot water line in this particular case) i just remove that cylinder a water flows normally.
If you ask why i did that because here in puerto rico I don’t know there but here we have shower heater Marey Brand i think and you put it the top of the shower, that’s why.
Thanks for your video. Very helpful.

This was so helpful, Tim! Fixing a leaking shower/bathtub shower valve without replacing the complete cartridge. Have done it quite a few times before for clients, but will be able to do it on the spot now at a much lower cost, as I always carry a supply of Delta faucet washers and springs with me.

Wow what a great help you were. I did the 2 small seal O rings and springs for my Delta and it worked out perfect. That cartridge was $49 and I was told IT IS A BIT DIFFERENT then the one I have but it (should) work. So I decided to try the seals instead. Of coarse they did not sell those so I came home and actually ordered them from Amazon along with the grease. So the 2 seals with springs and a small tube of the grease was like $9 delivered in 2 days!
I appreciate people who are out to inform the average person that saving BIG money can be achieved by searching out better solutions then slapping down the cash because we are told we need a cartridge and they don't mention the least expensive option. So Thank you Tim!

I do ac work….I’d say sometimes it’s worth the whole change and pass it on to the customer so not call backs. I can see it both ways. I like for them to save money also but we can’t afford for that 2 and 3 call back then it starts getting into our profits.

We have a galley style kitchen and the line for our water for our Ice maker runs through all the cabinets to the freezer/fridge. The line seems to be stopped up with build up. I took the cartridge out to inspect and nothing was out of the ordinary so I installed it back and now the dripping is even worse. It’s a steady stream now, not a drip. Could the house temp cause the cold side water to come out hot closing the vavle?

Thank you Tim! I just bought a T13022 trim kit and I was trying to figure out the P cartridge. Your video gave me a lot of insight. I have the water turned off right now so I can fix the piping. I count 13 notches from the Cold side to the Hot side. What notch number do you recommend (just a “guestimation”) to line up with the end of the Hot side arrow without testing the temp while keeping it not more than 120 degrees? Thanks

    • @mr_nobody867fifetreeOniner
      @mr_nobody867fifetreeOniner 2 года назад +2

The notches only effect how far you can turn the handel in a given direction. Adjust it to one side and put the handle back on. Notice how far you can turn your handle left and right. The actual water temperature is set at your hot water heater. The handle even if turned all the way to open on hot will not go past whatever your preset hotwater heater pressure is. Most are set to 120 by default.
