Thanks for the video, just got the same issue with the notch, easy fix: just pop out the gray cover and replace it with the old white one, it fits! If you just want to replace the washer kit, apparently Delta sends them for free.
Always put a little plumbers grease on the treads of the cartridge cap nut. Makes it hand removable in the future. That R10000 is a bit out of plumb in the wall. (left to right.)
The grey cap cartridge is the wrong part for replacing RP32104. That is actually RP46463. Just trying to help anyone else out there trying to get the correct part.
If all else fails you can take a Dremel tool with a cutting disc and slowly cut into the nut until it pops open. Do it easy and you won't hurt the threads. New nut and guts and it's fixed.
@@300zxdriver I would try twisting it back before you remove the nut. The nut is frozen on anyway and it gives you something to put a wrench on. Just be careful and go for it. If you get the valve moved back into place, cutting the nut off shouldn't be a problem. Slowly cut across the threads until you begin to see their top. Then put a flat blade screwdriver in the slot and try twisting. Cut a little and then twist the screwdriver a little. Usually, the nut will pop open just enough to unscrew it without any thread damage.
Bro I was like so sh1t he’s going to bust off the shower valve with that pipe wrench lol on the next one try tapping on retaining nut with your channel locks, it’ll come right off😏
Great video. Having replaced the seals and springs, do you know if you could have installed a new trim kit onto the older-style 1700 series cartridge and rough-in valve? I’ve got a 16 year old Delta 1700 Monitor faucet, and I’d like to update the look of it with a new trim kit.
Never too old to learn a trade. Im a retired Master Plumber by trade & it served me well for 30yrs. Pick up the tools & go be a helper/laborer & give it your all.
Could be a dirty sink drain. Stand in front of sink and turn on faucet. If you get a whiff of the sewer smell as soon as the water touches the drain then clean out the pop up assembly.
You should clean all that build up before installing new set up
BTW the newer style 1700 series cartridge with the dark grey top is part# RP46463, the older existing cartridge with the white top is RP32104

First step was to cover drain
What do you think ?

I just changed one and the way i broke it free was by pouring CLR and letting it soak for 5 minutes. Screwed right off after that.
I did mine yesterday if your going to do it do it right replace everything

I’m about to try cutting mine off , but I twisted my valve. Should I try twisting it back after I get the bonnet nut off?

No issues with old cartridge after you replaced rubbers and springs ?
The top white segment of the cartridge can be removed and swapped onto the new cartridge.
Thanks for the great video!

Sometimes they are stuck pretty good. I cut them off and pit in a new one.
U should show us how or what ordee the springs and seats go? That is why we watched u know
Did you miss that part?

Nice job. Wow that is one twisted up shower valve I’m surprised it didn’t leak.
What if the brass ring is coroted and hard to get off? Help
Good thing you gave them the old cartridge instead of going and getting the correct part 🙄
Working on a shower valve too 🧐
Do u by chance know what size oring this valve actually takes
Not without looking it up. Sorry.
Did you go to school for plumbing and air conditioning or did you learn as a helper? How old is too old to learn a trade? Thank you for your time

Wow, hope it wasn't u who twisted that valve body....😬
Can you untwist them?
@@300zxdriver yeah u can. What I do is shock the nut with 2 hammers, it's a good trick, then the nut comes off by hand, I never put a wrench on those.
@@300zxdriver oh dang I thought u asked can u twist them... I would not try to twist it back, very likely to break if u do.
pain in the butt if it splits in half
Yikes! Greenboard with no waterproof membrane. Not going to end well.
What’s with the masks? I never wore one. Refuse to.
^^^^^ Look at this tough guy!
And why wear them in the video?
