Confirmed! Cathy Cat is what we call a railfan over here in the states. She is so excited to see so much of these things and sit in the engineers seat. This was very cool. Thanks for this Ask Japanese.
Responding to discussion at 5:17 Because of this, linear induction (magnetic propulsion) is used compared to normal conventional motors. Linear motors are more compact than regular motors. It is must impressive all the effort, hard work and logistics that goes into maintaining and operate the train service. This reminded me of a similar feature about the Metro in Mexico City that was broadcasted several years ago but compared to this I think we can learn many things from Japan about how to do things properly and efficiently.
That was truly fascinating to see! I'm not a train or railway enthusiast, but when I was in Japan the Japanese railways and trains seemed to always give me those "すごいね!" moments.
Here in Philippines MRT and LRT train systems is you know. Broken AC system, dripping roofs when its raining, improperly closed door while running, suddenly stopping train in the middle of the trip, but it only happens in some set of carts and trains. But I hope that the government find more excellent service provider for their trains for the safety of the passengers.
Also, I’ve come to the conclusion that Japan doesn’t wear helmets all over the place for safety. It’s because they look so cute when you wear dresses with them.
That was really interesting. Thanks. I don't think I've ever heard of this kind of facility being underground before. Cathy looked so happy! Potential for a new hobby?
It’s nice to see how they care about keeping the trains clean. In Los Angeles, METRO just relies on the spilled alcohol and piss to wash away all the trash.
That is so cool hidden secrets of japan!Moonie Cathy Cat you will have to see if you can have a tour with one of the major Japanese airlines also as they are gearing up for the 2020 Olympics that would be so cool, especially as i work and play in aviation industry myself here in the UK and what a experience that will be for you and your team you will love it!XXX
Here in Prague, if you rush into the metro when the doors are closing, they let you get squashed, and you have to physically try and push them apart yourself. If you're not strong enough, they blow the train horn ( it's amazingly loud ) to embarass you, before they open it again to let you fully get in. Everyone looks at you like "thanks for delaying us, clown. The next metro was coming in 2 minutes anyway !"
it's so cool... should I say SUGOI !!! AFIK, Hitachi have a facial recognition system, is that technology used in Japan subway systems ? how often the trains are inspected for bombs and other threads ? I remember the attack with neurotoxic gas in Tokyo subway, what lessons do they learn from that ?
why should they use facial recognition systems in the subway? theire is no need for it. they get inspected every day, even though i doubt bombs and other threads are the main concern. the main focus is safety in case of an earthquake. the procedure is more or less the same anyway. the lessonm from the neurotoxis gas attack in the tokyo subway is, that they are next to no trash bin in japan.
If only the metro in LA were this clean but you know always gotta be some lowlive gang members making it trashy with taggings and carvings in the window
thats the result of "diversity" here in LA. I would never take a ride in those trashy ass trains. I kid you not, met a Japanese friend who lived in koreatown for English/language school, and he had 2 people break in to him and his roommates apartment, had issues with weird people hanging around their are too, and he said the city smelled like piss.
I am a guy with big dreams. If I had my own island. I would of built a lot of stuff. Omg!! Did you know that before my grabbings. I wanted to become a architect. I wanted to learn everything that everyone had from everywhere and hopefully create my own style that hopefully becomes a hit. 😋 Edit: like every style of landscaping. From all over the world. Its apart of my travels I want to do too. To really study the architecture of everything all over the world. 😋
It kinda feels creepy to see an empty Subway Train run, or just the empty tunnels themselves. Also, with the behind the scenes footage, it feels even more creepy, all those shows and video games that feature exploration of Tokyo, often exaggerate how big of a concrete jungle it is, but to add the fact that underneath such a giant city is a equally sized catacomb of more concrete that interconnects with Sewer lines, and Storms drains is even more daunting. Remember it's also Earthquake country, you don't want to be underground with a tremor in the area, smaller tunnels may as well be a grave site.
Cathy Cat reminds me of my old girlfriend. When she discovered there was a train control room simulator in Nuremburg Train Museum at the main station there, she would have played with all day ha ha.
14:20-14:30 Ya know.. “as long as we’re on the brown, we’re safe” is the motto of a lot of girls trying to convince themselves they’re still walking down “virgin road”. I’m so sorry. so like....the elephant in the room....because a lot of people choose suicide by train, i wonder how often they have to clean blood and uhm, other flesh, off these trains...???
Please turn on English subtitles on RUclips caption!!
How about including Japanese subtitles for your videos? (For Japanese learners like me and Japanese people watching your videos) :)

The cleanliness of everything around the train, floor, walls, rails, cables, blew my mind!
I absolutly love this kind of videos on this channel. Big thumbs up!
I wonder why this video is not as popular as I though it would be. This is a great tour Cathy K!

That was truly fascinating to see! I'm not a train or railway enthusiast, but when I was in Japan the Japanese railways and trains seemed to always give me those "すごいね!" moments.
Underground! Trains!
What a treat to watch for an ordinary train user who normally would only be able to appreciate the daily rush hour chaos.
vögelnacht HAHAHA it's a war on rush hours.
Omoshiroi!!
Cat Cathy experiences in Japan must be awesome! I think that, for some of them, know Japanese is a must to experience all these moments.
This was so fun thank you very much!!!
Wow! I am impressed! Beautifully maintained from the video view. A spider would starve to death in that place!

As usual, lots of people don't know how to wear a helmet properly.
Here is an example: 5:33 who do think got it right and who did it wrong ?
@@autohmae She's wearing it like that for style not really safety
@@EmptyHand49 In my opinion, it gives a bad example. For example for kids riding bikes.

Melon Pressé Metro stations in Paris might be the most disgusting places on earth. Feels bad man.
Cool. They are gearing up for the Olympics 2020. Awesome... Thank you.
nope! it's asia! it's normal to have infrastructure that actually work 😂
I don't think trains in Aus are even washed
It is immediately seen that this is a serious and massive logistics behind those lines.
Good one!!
13:15 I had that face during this whole video.
Now do a vid on SHINKANSEN trains,
They clean inside each cariage in 7 minutes

Ask Japanese, just out of curiosity, what kind of education would you have to receive in order to gain employment at an underground train station?
Great info and I saw Ultra Father!

I miss the subway in Tokyo. I live in New York City and because of how unkempt it is, I seldom use it. I don't even have a MetroCard haha.
I was hoping to see a super secret mecha facility but i guess train wash station will do.
