EPICA is a Dutch symphonic metal band formed in 2002 by guitarist Mark Jansen, after he parted with his former band After Forever. lead singer is Simone Simons, she was 17 in 2002. She switched to this style of singing , from pop, in training after hearing Tarja with Nightwish. Coen Janssen on keys, the only other original member left. The current lineup, seen here, has been constant since 2012, Isaac Delahaye on lead guitar, bassist Rob van der Loo, and Drummer Arien van Weesenbeek. 8 albums and several EP's to date, album #9 is in the works. Mark had co founded After Forever, which is the first band Floor joined at age 16 (Mark and Floor are not related) Omega Alive is the 2021 virtual concert , done when they couldn't tour due to restrictions, filmed over 5 days and streamed online at one time, and later released on DVD. This song is one of their beautiful ballads, at least it starts as one. Love the slow build of it. It's from the 7th album, The Holographic Principle, lyrics by Simone, music by Coen. In most of their songs Mark adds some harsh vocals. Yes, you can keep adding bands to the rabbit hole.🤣🤣. A deep rabbit hole with EPICA, and as you see they are awesome live. Epica has songs for every taste. From long, complex and very heavy, prog metal, fast and short in the style of sympho death metal, atmospheric in the style of gothic metal and the most beautiful ballads and acoustic tracks. This is an absolutely amazing band, I think you'll love them. You mentioned that you like complex things, so I recommend an absolutely epic 13-minute masterpiece from this concert: Epica - kingdom of heaven part 3 (omega alive) I also recommend a song with an oriental sound and a great live performance: Epica - Code of life (live at the AFAS)
One of the most competent metal bands actually. From classical to melodic death in minutes 🔥 They have other excellent semi ballads like this one, but I highly recommend it Kingdom of heaven from the same show. Simply blowing minds in a 13m of this beautiful composition
Love this band, both heavy and really soft songs, and Simone Simons can really cut right into my heart with her voice 😁. Dont know what you prefer, so Epica - code of life (live AFAS) maby?
masterpiece from my favourite band 🤘😎🤘 The live version of "Consign to oblivion - live at the Zenith" is probably the 'default' song to do. its the classic concert closer where everyone just squeezes out the last energy lol
EPICA are great live.. seen them twice live, once supporting Nightwish, and once when headlining their own show. They are a Dutch symphonic rock band.. I watched this entire live stream when it was aired, Good call whoever requested this...David.

@@watchtheskies Cool, great live band. Saw them in a very small venue a few years back with only about 800 attending, I think it was recorded for a live radio session. Amazing seeing them in such a small intimate setting.
@@powerdavid6235 saw them in Toulouse in France with Apocalyptica and another prog band i forgot (sorry for them) was a really good show and they sound so good live.
