I agree about her low notes. Floor's tone overall is superb but I particularly love her tone in her lower register.
This song is from their 2011 'Imaginarium' concept album, 2nd to last song. Recorded with Anette on vocals, the album version of this song is 13 minutes 30 seconds, as it suddenly transitions into a quiet piece, pretty much a poetry reading session. They left the poetry out of the live version, aside from putting the words on the projection behind them. 'Song of Myself' is a famous poem by Walt Whitman.
Tuomas took most of the lyrics from the lengthy poem 'Song of Myself' That was written by Walt Whiteman, Poet Lauret of the USA, during his era. That was continually re-editted over 37 years, until his death

Your intro about mental health issues was exceptional. I suffered with depression and alcoholism for nearly 20 years, and on July 31,1999, I got the help I needed and stopped drinking. I will be 25 years free of both.
There is a better version of this song/poem...with much better sound and you get to listen to the rest of the "Poem".... which is excellent! It's well worth listening to!

Whitman, Theroux, Lewis Carroll, Richard Dawkins - Tuomas Holopainen seems to like good books, explore the deeper meanings and get inspired by them. I love it, and the melodic approach in this type of metal adds to its power.

You may be right about the the lower voice range being underestimated. As a personal opinion I love Floor's lower vocals, they have certain gravitas.

Love your work Rach!! This performance is just top notch. There are not many greater things in this Universe that Floor in full Rock Chick mode, belting it out in her first register. She is enthralling. This is one of the 8-10 songs in my Nightwish Top 5, depending on the day you ask me :). Hope you hit the 200k mark soon !!
You actually didn’t hear the last part of this song. It’s on the album, but not live. You can find a video that adds it on the end of the live performance. It’s worth looking up

Marco is superb - I love his second entry (the rising gliss) so much I extracted it and have it as my ringtone.
Favourite parts:
Piano Black , and particularly the best description of depression I've heard - "sometimes the within is piano black". Piano black - that deep glossy black that almost evades the eye.
Emppu holding that long note one-handed as he drinks a Corona.
The unexpected pauses (rests) towards the end, particularly, in this performance, when Floor turns her hands upwards and the flames seem to come from her palms.
Great chuggy rhythms in the breakdown.
Little pizzicato string sections in the run-up to that ending.
At the end the lead vocals use the same lyrics as the choir are singing in the earlier parts -
"All that great heart lying still and slowly dying
All that great heart lying still on an angelwing". That lyric is perfect for the staccato rhythm.

No other band makes music like Nightwish, everything is perfection. Their music is good for your soul. I`ve been listening to Nightwish for many years, mostly when Anette was hired. I was a little upset when she left but Floor , like wow she is the complete package!! Sad that Marko left, his voice is awesome, but Troy is doing an great job with their newer music. I love your energetic reaction also.

Floor is my all-time favorite, but if you like female singers who can go low, I recommend '25' by The Pretty Reckless (especially the acoustic video). Taylor Momsen's low register is like honey.
I was at this concert. It was incredible.
You should check out the band "Periphery" in one of your videos. Maybe their song "Satellites" if you want to stand out from your fellow reactors. The vocal part at the end is out of this world.
Just think this was the song that followed Ghost Love Score that night in Wacken.

This song is a tribute to the poem in 52 chapters, One for every week of the year, " Song of myself " by Walt Whitman 1819-1892.(one of the co-founders of US poetry). The 7th line of the song is ""Of mermaids, of Whitman's and the Ride""". The extended official studio version of this song has, at the end, a poem as a tribute to Whitman made by Tuomas, the keyboard player and the mastermind of nightwish. These lines you can also see fast flahing on the ledscreen of the video you just saw.

as far a elements of the symphony with heavy metal you will be hard pressed to find a better example of a group of extremely talented group of musicians such as these six people second to none nightwish are their own brand and i don't think anyone else could pull off this sound they have so seamlessly so beautifully elegant the tapestries here

I'm sorry, but to me it seems that every youtuber/reactor/influencer is being hijacked by some kind of sponsor, and it's that fact that really annoys me. What happened to the times that RUclips is being "Just fun". Are we all that desperate to earn money the easy way, I don't know, but my standpoint is: "If you want to earn money, just get a decent job!" Cuz what nobody realizes is the fact that those sponsor companies are making big money over your back, they just give you guys some pocketchange. The master mind of this song is not Floor Jansen no matter what outfit she has. Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards) is the master mind. The heavier section make the drummer Jukka and basist Marko. They make this song as beautiful as it is. I love the style Jukka (the drums) have.

not the pause before the breakdown.. they build tension and then it's not released because of the pause
and then after, when you hear the breakdown, you only release the tension of the 5~10 seconds before it that you rewinded, so it isn't as powerfull as it is meant to be
