I do lots of 360 and VR mostly for digital tours for our university. What I like about VR is that you can be literally (digitally?) be walking with the one holding the camera. For instance, you can go walk on the beach or a gallery and the one wearing the headset is just like there. walking beside you.

PJ - you're just so comfortable to watch, and besides, how do you learn all this stuff? You review so many things in such a short period of time, and the sense is that you've exhausted the possibilities of discovery about the product, which you then share w/ us. THANK YOU MAN! And I really like the people, your friends and colleagues, et al, that you share w/ us. You're a standup human being.
One of the things we do in VR games when we do make an 'edit' (i.e. jump the viewers location) is to bring a fade in from the top and botom of the screen which sort of simulates eylids closing and opening.

Thank you for this. Two days ago I was considering this camera or the GoPro version for a 360 camera. Perfect timing.
360 is cool, but I still haven't had any clients ask for anything like that yet and it's been around for a few years now. It is pretty cool how attainable it is now though so at least I'll be ready if the time does come!
exactly. I did a vr video on my channel a few months ago and it didn't do well at all, but it is still getting some views. I might try another one later this year and see if it does better

Great video! However, editing mono VR video is quite a bit easier in FCPX and you’ll see much better render times on a laptop for exporting! The FCP user manual is an excellent resource to learn how. For most laptop users, you’re going to have a tough time rendering video.

Yes Gene! 360 is so under utilized. Pretty intimidating working with the equi files but huge potential to make new types of videos

For 2022 I'm thinking of adding VR riding videos to my channel, I just wonder how the speed would effect VR users, something i will need to experiment with. Don't raise it too high, and the camera has a low size profile already. Better than watching someone hold up a cellphone - or worse yet, an iPad!

The one that made me feel nauseous was the one where you repair the ISS in the Oculus. You have no gravity and float around with the earth below you. SO COOL. But almost made me barf.

Finally somebody doing decent 360 video for VR viewing. Other 360 cameras have been around for a while but most RUclips vids have been for RUclips flat screen viewing. BTW you can use Oculus Go to view which has been out for a while, is cheaper and can find it in stock.

In response to the comments at the end of the video, I've been using the Sony AX700 camcorder for my travel video since 2017. It's awesome and very rugged,.1" sensor, 4K 20x zoom and 12 Mo photos capability.

You should do some Z-Cam reviews! They have great 360 cameras like the S1 or the V1 (stereoscopic!). Plus they have a budget cinema camera offering too (the E2).
Hey Gene, will you review the new Fujifilm xt4? It is great for videomaking: 4k 60p at 10bit, 422 external recording 400mbps. Or 1080p 240p for super slowmo. And now it has a flip screen and IBIS!
So it's a GH5? Which came in 2017

@@pietroalessandrini Plenty of great lenses for gh5 to create more then enough shallow DOF and bring the same light as a 2.8 aperture FF lens, OFC you cant get 1.4 FF look but maybe close 1.8FF with M43 Voigtlander lenses at f0.95.. other than that m43 is pref over FF and APSC cause smaller faster and effecient

Gene! Go to Premiere Pro right now! 1. click the Settings icon 2. Check "Show Rulers" 3. Put the mouse cursor on Horizontal Ruler, click on it and drag a guide line down 4. Thank me!
The drift you noticed when on the tripod with flowstate stabilisation is caused by the gyroscopes detecting the 15 degrees an hour rotation of the earth and keeping the frame stabilised against that. Seriously, the world is a ball and flowstate proves it :-)

Hi Gene, I always get a lot out of your “workflow sharing” videos, only problem is I work with Blackmagic/DaVinci resolve... As the free version of DaVinci is getting more and more functional for editing (not just color grading), have you thought about doing a workflow comparison between Premiere Pro and DaVinci?

Amazing video. I just bought the Insta360 one r. I watched some tutorials on the insta website and I thought the only ways to edit were via smartphone, computer app or using the gopro reframe plug-in in premiere. Didn't know there were native vr effects in premiere. Thanks!

Might it be possible that the small rotation with the flow stabilization turned on in long clips comes due to earth rotation? 🤔 This would be CRAZY!
