Before him i was🤔 an ignorant person 😂i was like bruh you just put some colour on that hair and that's it!Watching him colouring hair is like i watch a faimous painter exposing his art technique.And yeah i still don't understand too much😂😊but i love those final results it's like wonder- hair!

I didnt either and i watched it from beginning to end...and also thought that was a lot of coloring...a lot of chemicals...and I only could imagine how much that would cost...her hair come out beautifully and it shows his talents....but I cant see myself putting my natural hair thru all those layers of coloring....maybe just two layers.....

I understood him perfectly. His methods are well explained, scientifically accurate, and precise. No idea why it was hard for you to follow. Perhaps he could do a video where he talks real slow and uses simple language for the slower-minded viewers...

And of course Guy didn't invent hair colour or colour theory. He doesn't claim to. But his application and methods are ground-breaking. That is why he tours worldwide giving lectures and tutorials. I respect his knowledge and professionalism.

@@peeblesv2369 I think he backcombs to make the dyed strains of hair look even more natural. By back combing you get a more natural, more "chaotic" look. You also catch less hair what makes the look more interesting and it looks like highlights that you naturally have in your hair.
I hope this was helpful but if anyone else knows better feel free to let me know why he does it

I appreciate that Guy always shows how different color appears in different lighting. It's so important. I also appreciate how transparent he is with the process and always going back to basics. He is such an inspiration and a great teacher. 8 years in the industry and although times can be discouraging, watching his videos reassures me that this is what I love to do. ❤️

I can’t find a colorist who will duplicate this process because it takes too much time. I ask for it, and am willing to pay for it...then I get in the chair and they speed through it. The end result is chunky, streaky, brassy...awful. I finally just went back to my natural color and gave up.

It is hard when you do booth rental and buy all your products and use 7 tubes of $8 color...clients don’t factor that in when they ask about price...plus to even have the inventory and the space to store it...Pinterest gives clients all these pics but doesn’t mention the costs ! I love it! I've attended many Schwarzkopf training classes and they were really into layering colors. All of this makes sense, when you consider how much we shampoo our hair. So, as she washes her hair, it'll look better and not fade so fast.
I wish more clients would understand the time, knowledge, and work that goes Into stuff like this. I work in a chain salon and we get random people showing up with pictures of stuff like this who have obviously chemically altered hair asking for a price. We tell them whether or not they’d be able to make it to that end goal and that it may take multiple sessions and they can’t come in at 5pm to start that. They get so upset about price and that they can’t have it instantly. I’d love for them to see your videos or other stylists posts and see that it may like more than 4 hours+. Your work is gorgeous and you put so much time and care into it. Thank you for posting!

Is it me or does Guy look fuckinggg built now? He was buff before but now it's like damn.
So from my understanding, when the colorant says “cool blonde” or “ash blonde”, they have purple/blue pigments instead of having actual blond colored pigments. (the name of the dye isn’t the name of the pigment but the result)
So on gray hair, will those dyes appear as purple/blue instead of blonde?

I believe this is the colour for grey hair I have greys around my face only, I think this is the way to go for longevity I am sick of going to my hairdresser every four weeks looks great on young girlls, the middle aged like me and for mature women, Guy can you do a video on blending greys for all us exhausted gals out there, I love you work you are a hair magician❤️

I have a question I can’t seem to get a straight answer for. I have been using Goldwell and Your hair color line. However I want to go darker at the root. I am 37 and now have some grey. The darkest shades go from browns to neutrals so like a 3N. If I add a 3N/2N in my roots and than purple/red at the ends- do neutral colors cause vibrant a colors to be more muted? I had my stylist add a neutral in to cover greys however the bright red seemed really muted. Is it the neutral color or maybe she just didn’t add as much red that time. Would appreciate any advice!

Thanks for this excellent tutorial, Guy Tang! When I'm quarantined and can't go to the salon, I can order product online and spend a whole day (literally) coloring my hair. For lightener, doing my own hair, I'm still obsessed with your Pravana collaboration clay lightener. It gives me great control, and the board that came with it is a fantastic tool, helping me place the lightener exactly where I need it to be. I sit on a tarp on the floor, mirror in front, mirror behind, whichever product, humidifier running, and I go town. What would I do without you? It's too horrifying to think about!

Misty mauve on my chestnut hair color but no one to do it that knows what they are doing. Where are these fabulous hair dressers?
It would be great if he posted his timing on all of these processes, what time the client came in and what time the client left. And price range estimates. Useful knowledge for hairdressers. We have a bad habit of under selling ourselves.
I'm pretty sure it takes 3 to 4 hours, the girl's hair is so long and course and Guy Tang do it alone. It's really hard without an assistant.

can I use blue hair dye and mix it with white shampoo to cancel out brassy orange pigments from hair? does it work?

I have a feeling it would make your hair blotchy. There are specific purple shampoos for that (the foam of the shampoo should be purple if you don't want only a very subdle result) if you don't want to buy an actual toner
Dam! This must be cost a lot!! From my first experience at the salon (Cali, Stockton), it doesn't turn out my lining and also cost a lot already. I feel disappointed.
