Wow what a throwback movie! EVERYONE saw it and was talking about it when it first came out, almost as much as Twilight lol (maybe even more since it has a wider target audience than Twilight 😆). Thank you for sharing your reaction! Some trivia: Yes, this was indeed based on a true story of NFL player Michael Oher. The family generally approved and was supportive of the movie but Oher wasn’t happy with the plot where he was taught how to play football, it was added for the “Hollywood effect”. Quentin Aaron was also working as a security guard when he auditioned for the movie and offered to do security for the movie even if he wasn’t cast. Sandra Bullock won that year’s Oscar for Best Actress for her performance. The movie itself was nominated for Best Picture. Tim McGraw (Sean Tuohy) is a big-time country music singer here in the States. Lily Collins (Collins Tuohy) is the daughter of singer Phil Collins and is probably best known these days for her show Emily in Paris. The real Collins Tuohy was taking advanced placement (A.P.) classes but she dropped out of all of them and transferred to Michael’s lower level classes so that she could help tutor him and help him pass his classes.
Funny you say Twilight, this movie came out the same weekend as New Moon. I remember watching New Moon one day and the next day went to see The Blind Side!
@@wackynicolecsu I remember that happening! I definitely saw New Moon when it came out (I was a teen, of course I did lol) but I may have waited to watch The Blind Side at home with my family. Both movies also made a lot of money at the box-office despite competing and opening on the same weekend, that's an amazing feat!
Another trivium: the same year (actually the night before) Sandra won also the Golden Raspberry for her role in "All about Steve" and ... she came to collect it! I already loved her, but this made me admire her even more.
Michael Oher has come out and said that the movie is basically a big lie, and they used him. A lot of people do not see this movie the same way anymore.
Was it true though? I saw a lot of counterclaims about him being the one lying and just seeking publicity and such. I have no idea myself, I'm not American.
The 2nd time around he did after he retired from football amd mishandled his money and needed more so he filed a lawsuit against the family that took him in. The 1st time he wrote a book praising the movie and how accurate it was, not 100% of course, and praised the family that took him in
and Now this beautiful movie would be seen differently because Michael Oher talk about the fact that he was never adodpted and didn't touch any money of the movie ..... and basically the Tuohy used him( that what he said)
There were two LSU coaches in this movie that came to talk with him. Nick Saban and Coach O, the O stands for his last name Orgeron but he was always called Coach O! I’m from Baton Rouge, Louisiana which is the home of Louisiana State University and our Fighting Tigers⚜️💜💛
I LOVEthis movie! Football is a love of mine as well so I hope you enjoyed! The NCAA now allows kids to get paid through endorsement deals not just through the normal routes of scholarships. You edited it well enough that I still cried in the end.
My family goes back generations in Baltimore, we're huge ravens fans and huge fans of Michael, he's not with our team anymore but he's still such an inspiration.
I am from Memphis, and have a friend that is friends with Leigh Anne Touhy. She told me Sandra's performance was spot on. Sandra actually spent a lot of time in Memphis with Leigh Anne before they started filming.
I don't like Sports Movies (or, even Sports, for that matter,) but I LOVED this movie! Given that it is based on a true story, it kind of restored my faith in Humanity.
Yeah Ferdinand the Bull was one of the original really old Disney shorts from way back when. And they turned it into a 3d animation and it's actually quite cute. I'd recommend watching the OG one (Lambert the Sheepish Lion is also wonderful and from the same era) and then the new one. From what I've seen you enjoy on here I think you'd like it.
Kinda of like Kapershit, adopted & raise by his white parents after his biological black father took a knee on being his father, but is "keeping it real" by hating "evil whitey" nowadays.
You might like the movie Facing The Giants & Flywheel, both featuring the same guy playing the male lead in both. Facing The Giant's subtext is about Football. And Flywheel's subtext is about cars. But the overall theme is about inspiring Faith. Also the movie, Whale Rider is a very touching wonderful movie. As well as the movie Dragonfly with Kevin Costner.
Some other really good sports movies that was based on a true story that you should check out Dillon Cinderella Man 42 Bleed For This Chasing Mavericks Glory Road Gridiron Gang
Thank you for sharing your experience with being a tudor in Spain. I am going to be getting one to finish my son's homeschooling and I want the teacher and son to have a good experience. I will try not to hover near when they are doing schooling
You realize the rules have changed and kids can earn millions of dollars in college now through sponsorships in what’s called NIL or name, image and likeness. These kids are getting free education, food, room and board and earning money. You need to educate yourself before commenting on something you don’t know!
Not sure the NCAA make that much money, I think it's the TV networks. However, they used to try to enforce the rules - such as their members can't cheat or find ways to get montey to recruits to secure them on their teams. Don't forget that D1 players basically get a full college scholarship, where non-athletes have to actually pay for a college education. For example, the university of Kansas has been cheating, or on probation for cheating every single year that they where able to "win" a college basketball championship. They have paid their star players to go there since Wilt Chamberlin in the 1950's. The decline in NCAA enforcement has ruined college sports, but because they were too insignificant to stop the overwhelming cheating beings done by schools who care about nothing more than winning. Players get a full ride scholarship for doing nothing more than being talented sports players, and morons in the classroom (for the most part, but not all)
From what I’ve read Michael was pressured and influenced by, let’s just say, certain people to turn against the family. In today’s woke world, well off white conservatives are the enemy. Hopefully Michael will have a change of heart.
Superb movie. I watch a lot of movie reaction channels and you must be the first I've seen react to this. Glad you enjoyed this. And as a side note how good does Sandra Bullock look on this? 🤪🤪
Don't stare at the teacher teaching your kids?? I think it's more about them vetting you to make sure you're doing your job and not being a creep. Parents should be allowed to hear every lesson sitting in or recorded if they want.
This is actually the worst adaptation of a Michael Lewis Book(he also wrote "The Big Short" and "Moneyball" of which the Big Short is closest to the book). The movie cut out the entire evolution of the Left Tackle , and truncated Michael Oher's story.
The movie used to be my favorite until I realized it's the apitome of "white lady needs to save the black people because they can't help themselves." It's a decent movie but the undertones aren't wonderful
I guess the movie you're reacting to is called the blind side. I had no idea until I saw the title overlay during you're entire review. That's just a horrible review technique. Like I had to be reminded. Duhhhhhhhhhh
Yes, this is a true story. Sandra Bullock won the best actress Oscar for her performance. One of my favorites!
Well it's inspired by a true story anyway.
@@gk5891 loosely inspired at that
Extremely loose lol 😂
"Yes, this is a true story"
This aged quite well.
@@elonr1018 it's quite shocking how much liberty was taken in the writing, it's a great film though

Ferdinand the bull was a book long before a movie. Which she was reading to the boys. That's why she calls Mike Ferdinand.

Fun fact...The young actress playing Collins is actually Phil Collins daughter.

There a similar movie called "Radio" starring Cuba Gooding jr and it's a tear jerker
After what that family did to him and how this whole movie came about, that whole family is not seeing heaven and the author too

One of my favorite Sandra Bullock movies.
❤️ love this movie, I’ve seen it it so many times it’s ridiculous!!!!
This is such a beautiful story. 🥲😊
The amount of fuzzies I got at the end with the reveal that it's all real..!
It is loosely based on a true story, but the actual guy takes issue with the way the movie portrays him.
of all things you said in an american accent in this reaction, “slap that mans ass, boy” was the best accent HAHAHAHA
YES! This is such a good movie and I'm so glad you reacted to it. Thank you!

Sandra Bullock is such a good actress!
Yes the movie was based on a true story. Sandra Bullock won the Academy Award for this movie. She deserved it

Love this movie so much he is a gentle giant even better its a true story
it sucks cause the real Oher not close with the Tuohys family anymore
