I came here to comment the same thing. Most reactors I see place Jenny as the villain of the movie cause, of course, a woman who says no to a man is a bitch, right? No one takes the time to try to comprehend how messed up she was, as she says herself when she apologizes.

There's not a lot of movies that make me cry everytime, but this one does. Especially the scene with Forest meeting his son and seeing how smart he is. It hits me like a ton of bricks everytime, holy hell.
I love that you understand the pain and trauma Jenny was going through. She was telling Forrest to run all the time and not to be brave when he was going to Vietnam as well as telling him “you don’t know anything about love.”.. when in reality.. she was the one who’s constantly running away and don’t know what real love is. She had such a tragic childhood and obviously her and her sisters were most likely SA..emotionally..physically abused by their father..maybe she witnessed the abused that her mother had too. So all she knew about love, relationships, and marriage was ABUSE. She would go for not so good guys who hurt her physically and emotionally. She couldn’t get out of that toxic circle and you’re right.. even though she deeply cares and loves Forrest..he’s too pure and too good for her. As if she will bring nothing but bad things that will taint or hurt Forrest more. So she pushes him away because she doesn’t think she deserves or is worthy of such love and affection. Then she fell into drugs and went on an even more darker path. Also, remember Forrest ran for 3 years…they don’t have cellphones at that time. How can she call him when she found out she’s pregnant? He started running not too long after Jenny left him. So how can she possibly explain herself? Thankfully, Forrest went back home and received her letter..but ppl tend to forget about that time line. Oh and to clarify the book said that Jenny had contracted hepatitis c from her drug addiction phase. Obviously, she cleaned up her life and I’m sure when she found out she was pregnant with Forrest’s baby..that was her SAVING GRACE tbh. For the rest of her life she managed to just LOVE AND BE LOVED.. to finally accept and embrace true and real love through her baby and Forrest. I love the symbolism of the birds flying when Forrest was talking to Jenny’s grave. Jenny’s answered prayer came true..her journey was rough in the beginning, but she finally found peace and true happiness in the end.

This is still considered one of the best movies ever. It's memorable, it's quotable, and it can easily go from funny to heartbreaking. And the movie is more memorable for the incredible cast and gorgeous cinematography. It's amazing that this movie is still relevant today. It truly is timeless.
Most male reactors don’t really get Jenny. You came the closest to understanding her. Childhood trauma especially that kind, can manifest exactly the way Jenny acted. They really got the psychology right. I think it’s something close to 80% of sex workers had childhood trauma, many being sex abuse. Many do self harm and turn to drugs.
The '60s and '70s were a time of social upheaval. Many of us didn't expect to live past 30. Jenny was a flower child of the time and Forrest was just swept up by circumstances. Their story fit the time and was not so unusual except in its breadth. This old man finds it a heartwarming, teary-eyed epic.
I think most people, including me, also thought HIV or AIDS is what Jenny died from. But according to the director, it was Hep-C and she got it from the intravenous drug use. This is one of my favorite movies. It never gets old.

This movie had a big effect on Gary Sinise. He formed the Lt. Dan Band, in which he plays bass, to do shows for the troops. And he started The Gary Sinise Foundation where they build smart homes for veterans who has lost limbs on the battlefield. Just something to make their lives easier. It's a wonderful charity.
It doesn't get noticed too much today, but the ability to remove Lt Dan's legs using special effects and make it look real was mind-melting at the time. Forrest Gump won the Oscar for Special Effects.

1994 was such a great year for films, and Forrest Gump is no exception! This film is so good from the acting, the dialogue, cinematography, just pretty much everything. A really emotional movie with a really exceptional story.

But I’ve always thought that she did love Forrest but she didn’t think she deserved him because of how pure he was, so she’d try to toss him away and not drag him down. And what she went through as a kid made it hard for her to feel loved like she didn’t feel before. Which is why she went after men who was abusive to her like her father was. because its all she knew also I enjoyed your reaction.
I love the line where Forrest is pushing him across the street and someone stops and honks at them and he slams his hand ✋ on the hood and says "hey I'm walking here😂".

Forrest Gump is one of the best films in history! The cast are good; the story sweet and sad and the soundtrack is cute. It is one of my 3 favourite movies which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
It feels good to see you react to a classic movie that hit home by how beautiful and story driven this movie was. As I remember during my History class, we had to watch this movie during our studies and take some key notes on what we just watched. As it was a good movie to watch and find it interesting. Till some time years later, I still watch the movie during my age in the 20s and remember the good times during school watching it. 😌 With that said, I still cry at the movie when watching as I had a special Coach/Teacher that sadly passed away from a snow accident and when I heard about it. I just put on Forrest Gump to remember his legacy by the movie being his favorite. So thank Cody for watching the movie and I can’t wait to see what movie is next for watching.

In addition to telling Forrest's life story, the movie also tells Jenny's life story from Forrest's perspective. That was highlighted by Cody's empathy for Jenny and commentary throughout the movie reaction. Very well done.
Completely agree, 10/10, a masterpiece. I don't know how many times I've seen this movie, or seen people react to it, since it came out but I cry every single time. I'm glad you understand why Jenny struggles and behaves the way she does. Not every reactor I've watched has, I've seen her get plenty of hate. Yes she treats Forrest badly at times but not everyone understands how traumatized she is and what that can do to a person. And when she says "Stay way from me" and when she runs away from him I've always thought it was because she did care for him and didn't want to drag him into her mess, and perhaps she didn't feel like she deserved to be loved either. I just think she was unable to accept his love until she got better.
I love almost anything with Tom Hanks and this is my all time favourite movie. It's a hell of an emotional rollercoaster, especially with Jenny's childhood leading into the troubled soul she becomes.
In Canada 🇨🇦 we had a guy named Terry Fox run across Canada with one leg and one prospetic leg, and we have a bronze statue of him in Ottawa Ontario and a running track called Terry Fox.

Truly, this movie is such a classic and something everyone should experience at least once. This was the first movie I ever cried at when 12 and still makes Mr cry everytime I watch it.

Lt Dan was so touched by this movie with veterans that he donated alot of money for the veterans and homes for veterans who came back and alot of veterans sent messages to him on his laptop 💻 and the last person was to pop up on screen was Tom Hanks and he was waving hi Lt Dan which made him smile with tears.

I can see a lot of myself in Forrest Gump; needing some help in school, not always catching on to social cues or what people actually mean when they say certain things, wanting to protect my loved ones and fight anyone who treats them wrong, and overall just doing what I know is best and wanting the best for most people 💕🍫 I will say, as much as I don't want Paramount Pictures to make a remake or reboot or anything like that of this movie, I would like to see an in-depth story of how Lieutenant Dan met and married his Vietnamese wife. I just think it'd be really interesting how they fell in love despite their countries history with each other.
I'm sort of the same way. I'm on the Autism spectrum (high functioning), so I don't always catch social cues and know if people are actually joking around or being serious about something or someone.

There's some Reactors on YTube who have great stats and fans, but actually suck. I saw one guy laugh through the first half of this movie, even the tragedy, and when Jenny came down off the ledge he says "Why'd she change her mind?" What a Moron, I bailed right then
I LOVE how forest sees Lt. Dan. No matter how Dan feelt, said, did and was treated by everyone else and how he saw himself to forest he was always the same person he always known him as. Lt. Dan!❤😂
After this movie Gary Sinise became VERY involved in Veteran charities. He even started a band and as far as I know STILL does USO tours for active duty and fundraising shows. It's called "The Lt. Dan Band"
I was also in the Army, enlisted in 87. One of the small population of Vets that joined in peace time. The last couple years was during Desert Storm and the beginning of the oil occupation... I mean Gulf War. Even with that I kick myself for not staying until I could get a military pension. That 15 years after ETS went by FAST!
One thing I've always been convinced of is that the stout gentleman who talks to Forrest about the "bullet that jumped up and bit him" was himself a veteran. Everything in his body language and his tone screamed to me that he himself had seen battle, had even lost his own best good friend in combat. There's more than just sympathy, like the little old lady. There's empathy--this man knows exactly how Forrest feels, because he's been through the exact same thing.
I saw this in the theater with my mom. ❤ Cried so much! Such a great movie! Came out in 1994. Same year as Shawshank Redemption and Pulp Fiction. Great year at the Oscars! Tom Hanks won back to back Oscars, the other for Philadelphia in 1993. ANOTHER tearjerker, but FANTASTIC movie!

I knew by that title that he was going to empathise even if it’s a little bit with Jenny which makes me click on this video because I have kind of been avoiding reactions to this film because of people acting like Jenny’s a villain which just makes me sad about how people don’t understand her character and what s*xual abuse could do to someone. As far as Gary Senise, the first thing I always think of is TV. It's CSI New York. But he was lieutenant Dan in this and he was also one of the main characters in of mice and Men. He might have been in some other things I've seen but I'm not sure I would have to check his wikipedia.

Hey Cody, I appreciate your service. I was in the USMC for 6 weeks and got kicked outta basic training at the halfway point for the trouble I got in (a stupid 17-year-old kid). Then I joined the US Air Force and served for 13 and a half years before the USAF offered people money to get out, which I did. No regrets. I love the military and anyone who tried to serve. With that being said, have you seen Jojo Rabbit, Only The Brave, After Hours or 12 Strong? I'd really like to see your reaction to any of those movies. They're all GREAT movies. Cody, your reaction is a treasure, and I thank you for sharing it. Your compassion and life experience is a beautiful contribution, especially regarding the characters of Dan and Jenny. Also, thank you for your service. I unfortunately wasn't eligible myself: very high ASVAB score, but the powers that be didn't like that I was on psychiatric medication. It was a big disappointment as both my parents were in service and I really wanted to be a military therapist. Somehow life works out anyway, and I'm grateful to be where I am. Something to be said for Gump's philosophy in that.

Fun fact of nobody's told you yet lieutenant Dan in order to play that role since Gary sinise didn't know much about the military at that point. He had gone to speak to some guys in the military about their experiences and he gained such a respect for the military that basically he's become an advocate for military and military charities from that point on I always figured why he had such a connection to the military was maybe he had a relative who was in the military who he really looked up to. But no, it was because of his experiences learning about it for lieutenant Dan

I think what makes this movie great is all the facets of life depicted that people can relate to....Forrest's mother dies. Millions of us can relate to that! And Lt. Dan & Jenny's messed-up lives; heartbreak, trauma + being in love and happy, etc. etc. Everyone relates

So many reactors just hate on Jenny for no reason. Not taking into consideration her background. It’s refreshing to watch someone who understands.
1994 was such a great year for films, and Forrest Gump is no exception! This film is so good from the acting, the dialogue, cinematography, just pretty much everything. A really emotional movie with a really exceptional story.
Ahem… have you seen Shawshank Redemption? Now that’s a real film right there that gives you the feels….

@ItsTotallyCody! A lot of people give Jenny a bad rep, which I understand because of what she put him through. But I’ve always thought that she did love Forrest but she didn’t think she deserved him because of how pure he was, so she’d try to toss him away and not drag him down. And what she went through as a kid made it hard for her to feel loved like she didn’t feel before. Which is why she went after men who was abusive to her like her father was. because its all she knew also I enjoyed your reaction.
I love the line where Forrest is pushing him across the street and someone stops and honks at them and he slams his hand ✋ on the hood and says "hey I'm walking here😂".
I believe that was a takeoff from a Dustin Hoffman line in "Midnight Cowboy"
I love this movie so much because I can relate with Jenny not alot of people understand what child abuse do to children and the lasting affects it can have even as adults.
When Lt. Dan are in the bar during New Years he says "the day you're a shrimp boat captain is the day I'm an astronaut." Gary Sinise and Tom Hanks would be astronauts in Apollo 13
Great movie, and a harrowing true story.
Forrest Gump is one of the best films in history! The cast are good; the story sweet and sad and the soundtrack is cute. It is one of my 3 favourite movies which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
It feels good to see you react to a classic movie that hit home by how beautiful and story driven this movie was. As I remember during my History class, we had to watch this movie during our studies and take some key notes on what we just watched. As it was a good movie to watch and find it interesting. Till some time years later, I still watch the movie during my age in the 20s and remember the good times during school watching it. 😌 With that said, I still cry at the movie when watching as I had a special Coach/Teacher that sadly passed away from a snow accident and when I heard about it. I just put on Forrest Gump to remember his legacy by the movie being his favorite. So thank Cody for watching the movie and I can’t wait to see what movie is next for watching.
It takes a lot for a movie to make me tear up and this movie repeatedly does that and straight up makes me cry at least once every time I watch it. This movie is just incredible.

In addition to telling Forrest's life story, the movie also tells Jenny's life story from Forrest's perspective. That was highlighted by Cody's empathy for Jenny and commentary throughout the movie reaction. Very well done.
If the ending of this and The Green Mile, also starring Tom Hanks and based on a novel, doesn't break you, there's something severely wrong with you.

Completely agree, 10/10, a masterpiece. I don't know how many times I've seen this movie, or seen people react to it, since it came out but I cry every single time. I'm glad you understand why Jenny struggles and behaves the way she does. Not every reactor I've watched has, I've seen her get plenty of hate. Yes she treats Forrest badly at times but not everyone understands how traumatized she is and what that can do to a person. And when she says "Stay way from me" and when she runs away from him I've always thought it was because she did care for him and didn't want to drag him into her mess, and perhaps she didn't feel like she deserved to be loved either. I just think she was unable to accept his love until she got better.

I love almost anything with Tom Hanks and this is my all time favourite movie. It's a hell of an emotional rollercoaster, especially with Jenny's childhood leading into the troubled soul she becomes.
In Canada 🇨🇦 we had a guy named Terry Fox run across Canada with one leg and one prospetic leg, and we have a bronze statue of him in Ottawa Ontario and a running track called Terry Fox.
Yes!! He may have not been able to finish the race but we Canadians can finish it and help keep his dream of a cancer free world alive!

Truly, this movie is such a classic and something everyone should experience at least once. This was the first movie I ever cried at when 12 and still makes Mr cry everytime I watch it.
I loved how this movie portrayed the five stages of grief and loss through Lieutenant Dan.

Lt Dan was so touched by this movie with veterans that he donated alot of money for the veterans and homes for veterans who came back and alot of veterans sent messages to him on his laptop 💻 and the last person was to pop up on screen was Tom Hanks and he was waving hi Lt Dan which made him smile with tears.

I can see a lot of myself in Forrest Gump; needing some help in school, not always catching on to social cues or what people actually mean when they say certain things, wanting to protect my loved ones and fight anyone who treats them wrong, and overall just doing what I know is best and wanting the best for most people 💕🍫
I will say, as much as I don't want Paramount Pictures to make a remake or reboot or anything like that of this movie, I would like to see an in-depth story of how Lieutenant Dan met and married his Vietnamese wife. I just think it'd be really interesting how they fell in love despite their countries history with each other.
I love that bit, even if they don't hit us over the head with it.
I'm sort of the same way. I'm on the Autism spectrum (high functioning), so I don't always catch social cues and know if people are actually joking around or being serious about something or someone.

i love this movie, but i always find myself feeling nervous about watching reactions to it bc a lot of reactors don't give jenny or the abuse she went through much empathy, so i tend to avoid them. but i already knew that you were going to understand the nuance of her character, and it was really nice to see that you did. thanks cody

There's some Reactors on YTube who have great stats and fans, but actually suck. I saw one guy laugh through the first half of this movie, even the tragedy, and when Jenny came down off the ledge he says "Why'd she change her mind?" What a Moron, I bailed right then

I LOVE how forest sees Lt. Dan. No matter how Dan feelt, said, did and was treated by everyone else and how he saw himself to forest he was always the same person he always known him as. Lt. Dan!❤😂
After this movie Gary Sinise became VERY involved in Veteran charities. He even started a band and as far as I know STILL does USO tours for active duty and fundraising shows. It's called "The Lt. Dan Band"
I was also in the Army, enlisted in 87. One of the small population of Vets that joined in peace time. The last couple years was during Desert Storm and the beginning of the oil occupation... I mean Gulf War. Even with that I kick myself for not staying until I could get a military pension. That 15 years after ETS went by FAST!
One thing I've always been convinced of is that the stout gentleman who talks to Forrest about the "bullet that jumped up and bit him" was himself a veteran.
Everything in his body language and his tone screamed to me that he himself had seen battle, had even lost his own best good friend in combat.
There's more than just sympathy, like the little old lady. There's empathy--this man knows exactly how Forrest feels, because he's been through the exact same thing.
I saw this in the theater with my mom. ❤ Cried so much! Such a great movie! Came out in 1994. Same year as Shawshank Redemption and Pulp Fiction. Great year at the Oscars! Tom Hanks won back to back Oscars, the other for Philadelphia in 1993. ANOTHER tearjerker, but FANTASTIC movie!

I knew by that title that he was going to empathise even if it’s a little bit with Jenny which makes me click on this video because I have kind of been avoiding reactions to this film because of people acting like Jenny’s a villain which just makes me sad about how people don’t understand her character and what s*xual abuse could do to someone. And she wasn’t even a bad person as she was running away from Forrest because she didn’t want to hurt him

Present day Forrest was filmed downtown in my city. Henry street is about 5 or 6 blocks away from where they were sitting so it’s an actual fact.
As far as Gary Senise, the first thing I always think of is TV. It's CSI New York. But he was lieutenant Dan in this and he was also one of the main characters in of mice and Men. He might have been in some other things I've seen but I'm not sure I would have to check his wikipedia.
There's the feather 🪶 he picked up from the beginning of the movie and put it in that curious George book and it just fell out.

This is such amazing movie and one of Toms Hanks best in my opinion 😊😊😊I love the story so much and the characters of course especially Forrest,it is amazing to see journey he went through and all the hurdles he had to face especially losing his Mum and Bubba and trying get together with Jenny but I’m happy he finally got to together with her at the end an happy she changed her life around too but it is sad when she passes away😢😢😢but it’s great to see him as a Dad and a hero as well. Hey Cody, I appreciate your service. I was in the USMC for 6 weeks and got kicked outta basic training at the halfway point for the trouble I got in (a stupid 17-year-old kid). Then I joined the US Air Force and served for 13 and a half years before the USAF offered people money to get out, which I did. No regrets. I love the military and anyone who tried to serve. With that being said, have you seen Jojo Rabbit, Only The Brave, After Hours or 12 Strong? I'd really like to see your reaction to any of those movies. They're all GREAT movies. Also, thank you for your service. I unfortunately wasn't eligible myself: very high ASVAB score, but the powers that be didn't like that I was on psychiatric medication. It was a big disappointment as both my parents were in service and I really wanted to be a military therapist. Somehow life works out anyway, and I'm grateful to be where I am. Something to be said for Gump's philosophy in that.

Mark David Chapman did cite Catcher in the Rye as an influence and he had a copy on him where he wrote "this is my statement" and signed it as Holden Caulfield, the book's main character, when he shot John Lennon in 1980. But Catcher in the Rye was published in 1951 and Chapman was just batshit insane.

Fun fact of nobody's told you yet lieutenant Dan in order to play that role since Gary sinise didn't know much about the military at that point. He had gone to speak to some guys in the military about their experiences and he gained such a respect for the military that basically he's become an advocate for military and military charities from that point on I always figured why he had such a connection to the military was maybe he had a relative who was in the military who he really looked up to. But no, it was because of his experiences learning about it for lieutenant Dan

I just watched this movie and let me tell you it is so moving and so sad especially the ending of it, oh my god nearly made me cry which it did, such a heartfelt movie.

In the book Jenny had hepatitis C as HIV/AIDS was mostly still in the gay community whereas Hep C was more prevalent in the intravenous drug using community.

I think what makes this movie great is all the facets of life depicted that people can relate to....Forrest's mother dies. Millions of us can relate to that! And Lt. Dan & Jenny's messed-up lives; heartbreak, trauma + being in love and happy, etc. etc. Everyone relates
