One of the fortunate or unfortunate things about the Titans was they were two separate school teams before they were integrated. Meaning they had a huge talent pool. Even the guys riding the bench were pretty solid.
This film is easily a 10, one of few. It preaches diversity and unity and displays how those two things create the most memorable and meaningful times in your life. I was born in 1990, I was born into a family that allowed me to be well-me. So I never found it odd or even interesting that my best friends were of different races, my very best friend actually an immigrant from another country, we were always just kids having fun. Now- as I look at the schools, it seems like the US has gone back to the 60s. We have forgotten to love people for being people. To learn about their ways, just to learn different ways- because they are interesting. Then at the end of the day to sit and eat as a group together. It seems so basic, but this world has become so bent on “race, religion, sexuality, gender/beliefs”- I think at some-point we forgot that we can disagree and still come together as a community and not lose our minds. It is truly sad. So yeah, I love this film. Always have, always will. ❤
they made us watch this movie at school in high school in VA. funny thing i end up going to marshall high school in VA one of the main football teams in this movie. an all white school and still an all white school. remember being the only mexican in that whole school. its the school next to langly. the school that american dad show is based on lol. its an all white city and i would know because i used to work in that city. so i will always love this movie.
I love Gerry's growth and development into a mature young man as the movie progresses. I also identify with Lastik. I was never really part of a "group" in high school, so anybody who reached out to me was a gift.
Yeah I loved this movie when I saw it. I have never followed American Football, but this and Friday Night Lights (and Gridiron Gang to a degree) are very powerful movies
Yo one of my teachers back in highschool, actually went to school to school with the players and coach Boone! Didn't believe it until she brought in her yearbooks!
I don’t know why people are surprised this is a Disney movie. Disney makes the best sports movies!! remember the titans, the rookie, invincible, secretariat, Miracle, cool runnings. And if you haven’t seen those movies watch them because they are great.
Only 2 of the speaking high school kids were actually teenagers when it opened Sep 29, 2000. Denzel Washington as Herman Boone 1954 46 Will Patton as Bill Yoast 1954 46 Wood Harris as Julius Campbell 1969 31 Burgess Jenkins as Ray Budds 1973 27 Donald Faison as Petey Jones 1974 26 Craig Kirkwood as Jerry "Rev" Harris 1974 26 Earl C. Poitier as Darryl "Blue" Stanton 1974 26 Kip Pardue as Ronnie "Sunshine" Bass 1975 25 Ryan Hurst as Gerry Bertier 1976 24 Ethan Suplee as Louie Lastik 1976 24 Ryan Gosling as Alan Bosley 1980 19 Kate Bosworth as Emma Hoyt 1983 17 Hayden Panettiere as Sheryl Yoast 1989 11
15:40 the battle of Gettysburg destroyed families Brother vs brother Father vs son It was awful fighting each other and losing 50,000 men it’s not worth it
It’s sad that this movie was in my opinion the peak of Disney no race baiting no political message being thrown in your face no pitting one side as evil or good literally a movie about how a city community and a team came together in a time of hate to be successful
One of the best movies EVER made. Everyone should watch it. I watch several times a year. It gets me every time. 😊
