    • @MechaGaikotsu
      @MechaGaikotsu  7 лет назад +126

I get these comments quite often, and I'm going to assume you watch the dub and that's where most people got the BARB-a-tos pronunciation. In the original it's バルバトス (barubatos), which is more like bar-bah-tos as they don't put any emphasis on the u sounds.

    • @alvodisco

Don't take my comment as a negative reaction to how you pronounce it. If anything it just catches me off guard. And I've actually never seen the dub of the show

I loved the display of the lupus smashing down on thin air at the end.
But yeah, it seems nail varnish is the way to go, people like Vangelus who builds transformer kits (which are bulkier and heavier) use it all the time in his streams.
EDIT: You might want to do 2-3 coats tho, depending on how loose the actual connection is, if the hand is flopping with no weight on it, then tighten the wrist with cement or maybe some thin blu-tac, then try putting nail varnish on it if it persists.
Only problem with taking things apart is the Lupus' legs on all of his models, they have a clip just on the inside of the heel that makes it near impossible to take apart without forcing it and breaking the tabs, but the inside of the foot has pegs, so tightening those and a little cleanup should do it.

thanks for the tip, picked up a bottle of XF-24 and it's worked wonders for Kshatriya and 00 raiser making them a bit more rigid and stable, thinking of trying the upper arm to shoulder joint on the 00 raiser next see if he has a chance in hell of keeping his sword oriented anyway but down. also seems to be working for sinanju ,he couldn't even hold the empty gun in his hand before without it shooting loose at the lightest touch, now he can hold it with the big bazooka attached but the wrist which i for a moment thought was stiff and strait is actually not and is unable to hold it up but that what the XF-24 is for :P ( update : hand peg tight enough, wrist peg tight enough, connection between hand and wrist giving a little... it never ends T.T i'll get him to hold this stupidly sized machinegun+hyperbazooka combo yet even though it almost clearly seems like a actionbase 4 combo so you can support the thing :P)

When the MG Barbatos comes out, can you use this Baratos Lupus Rex Mace to test the arm strength of the MG? I noticed the original mace got a slimmed-down redesign and I'm wondering if it was to be made lighter or to make it more sleek, cuz the barbatos swung it like a baseball bat, which is hard to imagine at it's original size.
So yeah, see if the new MG can hold this behemoth of a Full Mechanics mace

Oh, I'd definitely like to see more lazy / cheap ways to improve and customize gunpla. Also scratch building if you have done any of that. So far I've only kitbashed and customized using what's in the box, so to speak, and the only paint I have on hand is gundam markers.
Given you'd probably end up stiffening all the joints on the FM Rex, I'm supposing you could jut get the HG and paint what needs the detail. The HG can hold up that Mega-Mace no problem, it seems, so an IBO HG finally has an advantage over the FM. But I'll wait for Bandai's final release for the Barbatos to decide which version I will eventually buy. I'm also not sure about the Bael yet. Some people are comparing it to the 1.5 Gundam, which I have.
I might get the FM Vidar and do an Arya Stark custom with it when it goes on sale. I'm also curious about the Kimaris Vidar. The drill lance has sort of an _Ea_ vibe to it, and the shields remind me of the Dendronium. Drills, man. These IBO kits and their modelling tools.

I learned this stuff because i have no budget to buy tools and paints. Before i bought my nippers, i use nail cutter to remove excess nubs 😀

I like the nail varnish because it made my Force Impulse's joints tight and the Silhouette Flyer's wings and the lower part and also the connector

Is it the HG Force Impulse Gundam Remake? I have problems with the feet/ankle joint and the waist joint. Which joints did you experience the looseness for your Force Impulse?

You should do a lazy way of removing nubs

    1. Layer some tissue over the socket. 2. Stick the joint in. 3. Rip off any visible tissue poking out. Cheap, easy, quick, replaceable, reversible, and no one will see anything odd unless you take it apart anyway.

You know what's even lazier but I find works well with tightening ball or peg joints on high grades, especially hands? Just stuff a little bit of paper towel in there. It could work wonders and takes seconds. Plus, if it ever wears out, it's simple as hell to redo.

Millennia0007 not very good for some joints, though, like the sub-arms on the Kshatriya (which are why I'm here...)

Do these same techniques work on polycap joints? My old 1/100 Shenlong Gundam is in need of it.

Would this work on the hands of the early 2000s 1/144 RX-78 GP02 so they won't fall apart from the wieght of the shield?

The left leg on my 1/100 flag had a loose balljoint at the hip. So i just sniped A thin disk of poli cap from the runner and put it in the ball joint and problem solved, however its not nearly as effective for smaller joints like heads, knees ect

I painted my kit's joints too (because what else can I do but to hit it with the spray paint?) and they are stiff AF. I broke my Sinanju Stein's leg rocket because it's on too tight 😭
