I’ve been using 150-200g jigs with no luck… I should try going down to lighter jigs. Thanks again for the info.

The sheepshead are so pretty, I remember getting them by Catalina a long time ago.

If current starts up and your line starts to scope, try heavier jig or go to a torpedo it will give you a little more vertical time. Jig on

Seems slow pitch jig is more productive in SoCal, I usually get more bites on swimbait than slow pitch jig in North Cal

Great video! Totally different species than what we have around Florida. Very interesting! I’ve been doing SPJ about a year actively, and love learning anything I can from others in different areas and waters. It’s so addictive once you start having steady success!
You might want to try a sleeker jig to stay at your 100 gram size for the picky fish, to help with the current.
    Good luck!

Try Ocea EX8 braid, you won’t regret it and you’ll never look back

hello there, 1:46 could you just pick up the halibut by using the rod or should use a net? because i guess halibut mouth is fragile. thanks

The jigging rod is too fragile for lifting up that fish.

Can you say what boat you went out on? I’m always looking for new charters in So Cal.

The lighter setup is better. Game type slow J + Ocea Jigger 1500
