Thanks for taking us along 🎣. I picked up the Innovate a couple months ago but haven't made it out yet. Have you had a chance to try out the jig weight range and how do you think the Innovate will do against larger species of fish, like Blues, Stripper's, Lings and Cobia
The largest fish I caught with innovate was a few 15-25 lb Cowcod (catch and release). As long as you set the reel drag reasonably, I think the rod can handle larger fish for sure.
Hi, I noticed you had a rod protector on back of your slow pitching rod. Where did you purchase your rod protector used for placing your rod on the rail when fighting a fish?
yes, template reef innovate is a long rod, so placing the butt section on the rail makes my wrist hurt less. I don't use it anymore with my new shimano game type slow J since the rod is shorter and not as sturdy at the butt section

How to you prevent not getting snagged on the rocks , fishing for rockfish.
have you tried SPJ in other areas in Socal like coronados or catalina or san clemente islands?
I'm going to try the san clemente island in April.

what kind of terran/situation do you feel not ideal for SPJ?
Had to generalize at this point. I know some of the coastal spots in my area is not ideal for SPJ, while it gets good when you go deeper/offshore.
