- This is the second part of a two part video on learning how to get set up properly for slow pitch jigging. In this video, we talk with Mike Lipski, owner of Reel Deal Tackle in Pompano Beach, about the process of selecting the right jigs for the depth of water you are fishing and species you are targeting. We also cover hook selection and how to rig your jigs. If you are ever in Pompano, make sure you swing by Mike's shop and ask to see the jig room. It's LIT! While we were in the shop Mike had a surprise visit from the Gale Force Twins. They do a lot of slow pitch jigging and were nice enough to offer some perspective on their experience with it. If you haven't checked out their channel they have a ton of great quality content that is very informative.

It's like a candy store!
Love their shop! I shop there all the time.
Great video man! Very informative for even the most experienced slow pitcher.
Thanks!
Great information on that video. One thing that wasn’t shown was how the hooks are attached on the individual jigs and why it’s done that way. I guess that would probably be another video. Great job!!!
Fantastic video. Absolutely great information from likely the most knowledgeable slow pitch outfitter in the word !
Thanks!
Looking to get into slow pitch jigging and this video was very informative!
Thank you for the very useful information in Part 1 and 2 .. you have my support always. :)
Our pleasure!
Awesome video! Best info I've gotten being a beginner. Can't wait to put the information to use. Thanks guys for making this video!
Amazing video, best I have seen on details. I wish I was down in that area of the country. I am sure I would live in that store!
www.jdmslowjigging.com/ you can order anything you need
Off their site!
Red one, fishing rod at the beginning at the vid is da best!
Type of person who love hardcore lifting!!!!
I find gold to be the most versatile colour for any lure that gives off a reflection, not just jigs. Have seen mutton snapper, yellow tail snapper, barracuda, yellow jack and horse eye jack all caught on gold.
This shop is the closest to heaven😍
Fisherman’s dream!
I love my shimano ocea jigger infinity rod from Japan paired with my shimano ocea conquest. Next video should be about tai rubber fishing! Great video!
What is tai rubber fishing? Sounds like we need a tutorial!
I just got a 24 Ocea Jigger LD 2500HG. 44 #s of drag and its a lever drag system. Really sweet. It's the next evolution of Ocea Jigger.
damn.. this store owner is not just selling he also give knowledge with detail explanation.
his knowledge is off, no current in Japan he is so very wrong
@@EdSki1970 what do you mean? No water current in Japan sea? Only tsunami?
@@NickyAdventures you must be a comedian the store owner said that certain Jigs were made is Japan and were made that way because Japan does not have any current well I am in Japan and there is a very strong current that runs between high tide and low tide and thought the guy should get his facts right , which the guy seemed knowledgeable but perhaps he was just talking S**T! typical salesmen
@@EdSki1970 yes of course, the Japanese invented the slow jigging thats why some of the jig are made from them specially the slow fall jig. You know there is a 3 types of jig? And each of them have purpose to work well in any water condition. If there is a current use fast jig, if there is no current use slow fall jig, if the current is not that strong use hybrid jig so it will depend how you play the hybrid to fast or slow and if the current is too high dont go fishing and stop complaining like a small kid.
@@EdSki1970 he’s just American, if they’re not sure on something they’ll talk like they are anyway. I also recognised none of the jigs on his wall as Japanese jigs we have here in aus or that I’ve seen of jdm websites, do you recognise any? Maybe he means China when he says they’re from the other side of the world lol
Great video, super helpful. I live in Costa Rica and newly addicted to SPJ. Que problema.

Thanks for checking out the channel!
Gale Force Twins ❤❤
Love it! Im getting into it,.
It’s a lot of fun
Jamie, You said you would be giving details of all the equipment ; rod, reel, jigs, etc... Where can I find it?
Sorry Miguel. We will get those details added to the description for you soon
Miguel, the equipment details in the video have been added in the description.
Great video, one question can i jig on 20 feet of water?
No reason you couldn’t but you would need micro jigs
That’s a whole lot of jigs
How and who do I contact I contact to purchase the pink strawberry lemonade and gangster stick? Love the video!
Contact Reel Deal Tackle in Pompano Beach. I believe the Gangster stick is no longer being made so get them while you can before they are gone!
Am I the only one that felt like it was 1978 again when he turned the lights off? Black light and rock posters.
Lmao, 1978 is precisely when I got my first black light and posters. I got a pack of 12 that included a Led Zeppelin poster that now sells for $250 on Ebay.
Wow, all beautiful...
any recommendations for haddock and pollock jigging
Unfortunately no experience with those species but anything you can find in size and coloration that mimics the bait they are eating should be effective
@@fishbluewater yea seams the slow pitch isn't that effective om haddock unless you modify the approach and fish these jigs the Norwegian way or viking style and pound bottom I base that off 2 trips in the last 5 days I tried slow pitch style 4 fish the other day I fished it the old school way and took 11 using the slow pitch jig rod and jigs just the old school jigging style
@@fishingnh4543 Hello, I slow jig since over a year now for pollock, ling, haddock and other cold atlantic species - it works great! You just need to find the right jig and stay vertical over the jig, and fish a little bit less agressive than the guys in australian, japanese or other videos. When the pollock is feeding you can still fish pretty aggressive, some fish actually chase the jig up 10-15m until they bite, I had pollock even biting the jig after reeling it in very fast to reset the drift but it all depends on their mood.
The store owner is incorrect when he says the jigs were designed like that because there is no current in Japan! There is a strong current in Japan between High tide and low tide vis versa! I am in an area which has the 3rd fasted current in Japan! 16 knots at its fastest! Makes me wonder what else was he wrong about?
Wow. Thanks for sharing your opinion on the matter at hand. 🌝
@@fishbluewater its not my opinion its a Fact! I fish Japan very often! IDK where your guy heard that BS but that's what it is..
@@EdSki1970 cool
@@fishbluewater btw love the videos
I have heard Asian RUclipsrs point this out about American spj. Americans always say 1 gram per foot when in Asia it's supposed to be 1 gram per meter. Very big difference.
What connection are you using for the main line to the leader?
FG knot
That gold and pink (deep) jygpro is a mutton killer.
Yes!
No mention of shock leaders and what knot to use tying to the braid.
Also, he's telling him to put a barrel swivel on every jig. What I do is to tie a barrel swivel onto my shock leader. That way I can change jigs with my split ring pliers instead of having to tie my leader onto different jigs.
I need one that looks like a squirrelfish.
Sir howmach 1pcs jigs 200g slow?
What happened to the website its not up any more ?
Yes, the store closed but you can order direct from JygPro or Johnny Jigs. Both are great products
Malaysia…
dang $26 a jig. whats diffetent than the spj jigs on tumu for $80 ten packs they look identical?
Not familiar with tumu
Do you sell penn reels?
God I hope not. I saw plenty of good reels, Avet, Accurate, Daiwa, Shimano. I use Avets and Accurate, with Avet being the best bang for your buck out there.
Did he say 8g per foot? So 100ft you use 800g jig. That does not sound right.
1 gram per foot. 200 feet 200 grams
He was supposed to rig one up and show us?
Hey Bob. Yes sorry that was overlooked. We are leaving for a slow pitch trip in the Tortugas with Mike on Monday. We will have him cover that on the trip for you. Should be some amazing footage and educational info!
Dude doesn't know what he's talking about regarding Japan not having current. Waters here in Japan have multiple layers of current due to extreme depths. Its common to be jigging in excess of 1k feet, which does prevent use of slower jigs, but the statement made is false.
