@michaeljaworski3221 I find swivel is personal preference, I don't think there's any major issue with using it. For me I use swivel on spin reel SPJ setup to help reduce line twist, and on overhead I don't use swivel but I wouldn't be against it either.

Thanks Rod that is a big acknowledgement. Having hooks on both ends should actually increase the flutter time as the jig will receive greater balance. We often use another single or double hook on the other side but more for the purpose of increasing hookup rate, it's fine to put a squid skirt on one or two sides too and we do this with the Ocean's Legacy Tako-bait assist hooks. I think the ratio of jig weight to hook weight means the added hooks on either side won't make a huge difference to jig action

Ive always used popper and stickbaits. Trying them Synotek subzero slow pitch jigs in Cairns for first time ever and absolutely loved the jigging method. Much easier than casting and popping 😅. Thank you for showing these awesome techniques 🤙🤙
So here is an awesome tip. Change your braid from one colour to multiple colours. Every colour is 10m..so, look at your fishfinder see the depth, then let the line out till you reach the depth of the colour. Doing this means you dont get snagged up, you already know when you are getting to the bottom by colours. You welcome, enjoy.
Thanks Richard, I think 25-30lb is good for the gulf if you're not expecting a Kingfish to take you into a nearby reef. When targeting Kingfish I use my 60-80lb SPJ setup

I think 8m is a bit shallow, as you'll be jigging up 1m at a time so it won't have enough time in the water. 20m minimum for me at the moment for Slow Pitch. If I'm microjigging or softbaiting then 8m no problem

I find most of the time don't need to guide the line onto the spool and it mostly falls into place by itself, if it looks to be uneven then yes will need to guide the line to balance it
Hey mate. Is slow jigging only focus at catching near bottom fish? Is it suitable for mid column? I fish at 30-40m waters. On a slow day i notice the pelagics are staying at 15m.
Hi there, you can definately use slow jigging on any part of the water column, if you see the fish at 15m then use SPJ to jig there just like how you would with mechanical jigging

You can but it depends on the softbait rod. For example you can use a PE2 softbait rod to fish 30-90g slow pitch jigs , we do that often and call it Super Light Jigging as a term

That's very similar to thr depths I fish. In this video it would be 100ft, and some other videos I've done it's at 300ft 180ft is where I most commonly use this technique
I think the 2000 is suited for everyday lighter use around pe1.5 up to 100m, while the 4000 is for jigging big fish in reefs or deeper water where you need more line capacity or stopping power
In Japan Slow Pitch Jigging is called Slow Jigging as in Japan Kabura fishing is call Tai Kabura. In NZ/Australia we call Kabura fishing Slow Jigging as we basically wind the jig up slowly. So the answer to your question depends on the country. Slow Pitch means you Pitch the jig up to have it flutter, Slow jigging means to slowly wind the jig up, fast or mechanical jigging is winding the jig up fast.
I’m trying to figure out the jigging business. The biggest problem I seem to have is dealing with the current. There’s always current where I fish and I find it impossible to keep the jig vertical. Does anyone have any pointers for me please?
Current is a tricky one, we just go with heavier jigs, I don't think the fish mind bigger jig size as it means more food for me. If its fast current in 40 metres I'd quite happily use a 300g slow pitch jig to reach the bottom
Land-based would be quite different, you'd need to use lighter jigs, different rod for casting, and work the jig and ensure it doesn't get stuck on the bottom

Just give it a go, there's no right or wrong and the fish will decide. I find it easier and more enjoyable with the right rod, it will lift the jig better and provide more sensitivity to feel the bite
a normal jigging rod wil be too stiff / fast for slow pitch but u can use affordable rods as slow pitch i am someone who likes regular jigging rods for all around use so i've been through this if you want the cheaper answer that gives u a good rod if u dont like slow pitch try the 7' tsunami trophy 2 its an inshore surf style spinner thats fully parabolic its only $100 the only recomendation id make otherwise is to glue the rod and make it one piece it comes as a 2 piece but its a 75/25 2 piece so only the reel seat is on the second piece its made to be glued after purchase use epoxy and glue it its a great slow pitch rod

Thanks Glen, I'm happy with either having fished on both for a while, I just find the full jigging motion a bit restricted on the ski.

Yes definitely use matching or slightly higher breaking strain fluorocarbon. Braid will break too easily on fish teeth or reef

What slow jig weight would you use for 30-40m depth?
I'd probably use 100-120g for that depth, general rule heavier is fine, as you'd want the line as vertical as possible and lure near the bottom

Yellowtail kingfish? Over a reef I would say 4000-5000. Over sand you can play them safely can use 2000-3000
