Welcome to my channel which is all about fishing in New Zealand from my Jetski or Boat, and my journey to master fishing with lures such as Slow Pitch Jigging, Softbaiting, Stickbaiting, and Egi for Squid.
Currently I'm focussing on making Slow Pitch Jigging and Super Light Jigging guides.
Previous guides I've made are for Jet Ski fishing such as how to anchor your ski at the beach, using a sea anchor to slow down the drift speed, what's the best tackle storage for use on the ski, what to wear to stay warm in the winter and much more.

Kaz, Daniel, and I set out at 8pm in the dark on my FC560 Cuddy to try out the newest Ocean's Legacy Roven Mini 6-15g microjigs under the Auckland Harbour bridge using our lightest lure fishing setups. It was the first time I had driven my boat at night and I was pretty nervous about being out in the dark the whole time, luckily there wasn't many boats about. The video speaks for itself, it wil...

NEW PRODUCT the Ocean's Legacy ELEMENTUS Slow Pitch Jigging Rods
I love this sardine colour as wrll. First drop got me a kingi🎉
Congrats mate! Sardine is still my all time favourite
Where can I buy this reel
I got mine from Japan online store, Plat or Digitaka
When is the right time to engage the bail arm? 😊
Hi I am new to conventional reels, were you guiding the line when retrieving the line? Assuming it is a non level wind reel.
I find most of the time don't need to guide the line onto the spool and it mostly falls into place by itself, if it looks to be uneven then yes will need to guide the line to balance it
I hope this message finds you well and in the best of health. I am writing to you as one of your followers on your remarkable RUclips channel, which I have greatly benefited from due to the valuable and engaging content you provide, especially regarding fishing and related equipment. I am an avid fishing enthusiast; however, my current circumstances prevent me from acquiring the appropriate tools, particularly a fishing rod with a reel. Therefore, I am reaching out to you with this request, hoping to receive your kind support in providing me with these tools, which would greatly help me pursue the hobby I deeply love. I know that you are always keen to support your audience, and I hope to be one of those who benefit from your generous assistance. I would be extremely grateful for any help or guidance you can provide.
is there an optimal depth where this method works best? i typically fish a reef with 80 to 100 ft depths and occasionally 200 to 300 ft...would this process be beneficial?
That's very similar to thr depths I fish. In this video it would be 100ft, and some other videos I've done it's at 300ft 180ft is where I most commonly use this technique
Great video! Do you use a drogue to slow the drift?
Thank you! Yes sometimes we do, it's best if the line is vertical, so we really don't want to be drifting more than 1.5knots
Awesome tutorial!
Thanks!
Grab a Kawasaki 310lx will solve ya problem lol
Think Kawasaki are exiting the NZ jetski market
Love your videos Davo. Inspired me to give slow jigging a go. Just purchased an Ocean Legacy Elements SJ pe2 rod and Shimano Sustain FJ 5000XGA spinning reel with pe2 XBraid. Cheers again for your great content 👍
Awesome mate, keep us posted
Doesn't the jet pump have lines into the hull which sucks water out of the bildge?
Don't think this model has that
Keren banget semoga bermanfaat bos
If that was me the whole box of lures would have ended up in the drink 😮
Haha I think that too sometimes

Can u put a link where you get your Ajing soft baits from
Hi where are you based? I brought mine in New Zealand
Do u Do same with fish fingers and g bombs
Those are drop to the bottom and slow wind up
@FishoDavo ok 👍 thanks
Saltiga + Longfall combo is so beautiful
Yes sir, I need to upgrade to SPJ handle on that IC 100
Definitely poorly designed
Bro .. what rod is that ?
Hey mate it's Ocean's Legacy Quest Ultralight rod
Hey Davo, what were the clips that you were using for fast change outs of your softies?
I think they were the BKK ones
2:00 fashion trendsetter In Joon! 😅
Good video mate
Great video mate love the added information of how you're doing all the various jigging actions with the slow pitch epic tips almost feels like it's own tutorial!! Very jealous of Alton's new boat too 😍😍 10:02 also you need to use hindsight to not drop the fish 😅
It is one sexy boat! I think I did use hindsight for that part of the dropped fish 🤣
@@FishoDavo 🤣🤣🤣🤣ahhh haha the important ones. And yea man wicked rig
Alton = Leadfoot😆
Haha what's that?
Good video, boys. I like how you put the gear you use in the description. Cheers.
Thanks for watching mate! Yeap I always try to include gear used since it gets asked a lot :)
Hey mate. Is slow jigging only focus at catching near bottom fish? Is it suitable for mid column? I fish at 30-40m waters. On a slow day i notice the pelagics are staying at 15m.
Hi there, you can definately use slow jigging on any part of the water column, if you see the fish at 15m then use SPJ to jig there just like how you would with mechanical jigging
Woaw first RUclipsr to do it I reckon. Very useful, you should do a serie
I can do that, let me work on it 🤙
@@FishoDavo thanks :))
that ski is not for fishing.
How come?
No life jacket or marine radio? Can't tell from the video. Glad everything turned out ok
Cheers for watching. Had life jacket under the black jacket, didn't have marine radio had lent it to a friend. Did have mobile phone and PLB
@@FishoDavo cool.... ya fishing in big water like that, good to be prepared. Great video.
Ikan enak
I have seen boats sink because the owner forgets to put back the drain plug. AS a Boat owner, I have an item list I check off prior to launching and leaving. The Ocean can be unforgiving. Thanks for sharing, glad you made it back safely.
Thanks for commenting and the advice, I have a checklist too and usually pretty thorough but left out making sure hatch was locked closed
does it work for salmon
Are you based in Auckland? Would you be interested in going fishing together?
I’m trying to figure out the jigging business. The biggest problem I seem to have is dealing with the current. There’s always current where I fish and I find it impossible to keep the jig vertical. Does anyone have any pointers for me please?
Current is a tricky one, we just go with heavier jigs, I don't think the fish mind bigger jig size as it means more food for me. If its fast current in 40 metres I'd quite happily use a 300g slow pitch jig to reach the bottom
@@FishoDavo wow, I’ll have to get some bigger jigs!
Dude. Where is your bilge pump?
It didn't have one
@@FishoDavo Always put them in!!!
Yup I agree, will do for next ski
I’m at Raro right now
So lucky!
thanks Davo! doesn't look like there was much in the way of coral, more rocky reef? (never been to the cook islands but have some qantas points and was tossing up there or going back to fiji)
I liked Raro more than Fiji Denarau resort area, the Fiji remote Islands would be very nice I imagine
Awesome video, this was such a great trip!
Thanks for spotting all the cool stuff Bretty
Amazing. Very informative and helpful for our upcoming trip. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching and leaving a nice comment, hope you have an awesome time!
I swear ,no fish on.😂
Awesome video mate also love the voice over
Thanks mate!
Awesome footage. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Michael!
Oooofffff making my raro and Aitutaki vids look sub par now 🤣🤙 awesome video mate so interesting watching someone go to the same place and edit/film a completely different experience eh brilliant stuff and outstanding footage
Cheers bro, I reckon if you make one now it'll be completely different again
@@FishoDavo haha that's true eh!
Incredible footage mate, those eagle rays are crazy!! Can't believe you got so close 😅😐 also those sea scooters are an absolute game changer!! Will definitely hire some when Jinny & I go back. Hard luck about not going fishing tho. You're obviously not as mental as me for taking my own fishing gear when we went land based 😂
I really should of taken some fishing gear, but then do I pack light or heavy, would probably end up packing it all like you 😂. And yeah totally rate the sea scooters, get around so fast and not even tired after an hour in the water. Thanks for watching bro!
@@FishoDavo hahaha I never pack light 🤣💀 yea man great watch
Does salt help the process or will it make the fish too flaky?
From the Philippines here. Very detailed and accurate explanation. Thank you.
Thank you for watching and your kind comment 🙏
Hey bro so there’s many out there idk what they mean , there’s QS UL 12XUL 12XXUL 32XUL what’s the difference on them ? 😭
What does overhead, spin mean?
Overhead is overhead reel, spin is the egg beater style casting reel that sits under the rod
That could have ended bad. Glad youre okay and thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching, yeah I was really worried during the whole ordeal
