    I live in Halifax and we typically walk most places - even in the winter. Given there is no one on the sidewalks I assume it's very early in the morning in March, possibly on a Sunday. It can be quiet for sure, but often there are tons of people out walking. It' s pretty vibrant city.

      @@tednguyen8310 Hi Ted - I do not disagree in the least. The video makes the town look a bit sad doesnt it? It's considerably better in person- depending on where your are in the city. This said, the city's urban planners have made a slew of bad decisions over the years that have impacted it's vibrancy.

    Our party of three visited Halifax in 2016 and had a marvelous time! So many highlights but I do recall an Irish pub that served excellent food and featured some Gaelic music! Definitely, most certainly... we will return!

    omg who cares if there’s nobody out walking, i live in Halifax and there’s always people walking outside in downtown Halifax. Im guessing it’s early in the morning on a Sunday or something. But to sum it up who cares if there’s nobody walking, as long as it’s a nice and clean city it’s worth living there. (Not trying to offend anyone)

    @oldheaven8688 6 лет назад +4

    Wow that's fantastic. But the city looks little dreary in this time of year. I mean I feel a little depressed to see those bare tree branches. Normally it should've been spring now. I've followed the way you drove on Google street map and the city looked better there possibly owning to the sunny weather. I see you started somewhere form Barrington street.

    • @SteveCSilva
      @SteveCSilva  6 лет назад +2

      Correct, I started at the intersection of Barrington and Cornwallis streets. I've found the weather to be mild here, at least compared to the other cities I've lived in (Toronto, Regina, and New York City). It's December 12 and, so far this autumn, I've yet to see any snow stick to the ground on the peninsula.

      It was 4 p.m. I prefer to shoot my videos when there is less traffic; viewers get to see more of the area in a shorter amount of time. This 13-minute video wasn't meant to show everything, but it showed a significant chunk of downtown Halifax. Also, I have two other videos that show that road by car (ruclips.net/video/6TrMEAEV400/видео.html) and from the sidewalk (ruclips.net/video/G6SwizumF2s/видео.html).

    Reading the comments I'd bumped on Garbage Day's one. Why some people have the need of being that rude? I've lived and worked n Halifax for two years and I never found this city ugly as Garbage Day finds it. Halifax is a beautiful small city (compared with Toronto where I'm presently living know). As a matter of fact I still miss the easy ways to get around and the marvelous Waterfront. I miss the lobsters one can buy for almost nothing during Christmas time right on the street from the back of pick-up trucks. I miss the pace of life,the affordable housing prices and the speed of all the services that in big cities are always a burden. Due to my age (I'm 72) and a lot of different health issues, I know well I couldn't make it in there with my tiny pension; although as soon as my wife (who was born in Bridgwater,an hour away from Halifax) retires, my plan is to move back there. Nice video of downtown Halifax,though you missed Victoria Road where we use to live. Greetings from Toronto.

      you usually can't drive for the people. endless crowds all day and late into the night that infamously do not stop for cars. you gotta drive -5 miles an hour to avoid hitting someone. the downtown is so densely packed with bars you were basically in the middle of a giant block party on weekend nights even in -30 weather and everyone would congregate on the same corner when the bars shut down in the early morning. This is probably a couple hours after that, weekend morning everyones still in bed id say.

      Halifax weather is rainier and doesn't get as hot. They get wicked snow, too. The weather isn't better compared to Toronto or Montreal. It's also a much, much smaller city. Everything shown in the video is the core, the rest is lower density. This was probably filmed on a Sunday on the off-season, so there were no tourists and literally, most things are closed on Sundays.
