- Halifax is the capital and largest municipality in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, and the largest municipality in Atlantic Canada. As of the 2021 Census, the municipal population was 439,819 with 348,634 people in its urban area. The regional municipality consists of four former municipalities that were amalgamated in 1996: Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, and Halifax County.
Halifax is a major economic centre in Atlantic Canada, with a large concentration of government services and private sector companies. Major employers and economic generators include the Department of National Defence, Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia Health Authority, Saint Mary's University, the Halifax Shipyard, various levels of government, and the Port of Halifax. Agriculture, fishing, mining, forestry, and natural gas extraction are major resource industries found in the rural areas of the municipality.

hey, could you pls tell me what camera is this video recorded on? thx
i have watched this video in my country , living in halifax was just a dream, now 5 months later i m here, and yes halifax is a great city
I hear it is expensive there. A saw a man on YT wanting to leave Toronto for Haliax and found Halifax expensive.
@@siriusjones956very expensive here, housing, 15% tax is the realllllll killer. I grew up here. Been around Canada but I could never leave this place forever. The province as a whole, the people are some of the nicest people I’ve ever been around. Sounds cliche but unbelievably true. Also Low crime. If people are worried about coming here alone.
1 fire and 1 flood later
The Public Gardens, The Commons, The Fort, Point Pleasant Park. Those would have been nice to see.
Good to see you are alright👍
Great video. Hopefully can come back for a visit soon.
Your compliments about Halifax are ours
Sunday Driver well done 👍👍👍👍
Thank you 👍
I've been waiting for you to do my city!
Great to see home but how could you do downtown and not even touch the heart of downtown, Spring Garden Road. Argyle Street area would have been a good place to see as well... maybe next time.
welcome back
👍👍
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I had a dream I lived here. A couple of years ago. I woke up saying what is halifax. Where is it even at. Did alot of research. It looks like a good place to live. Does anyone have any objections to this?
That’s interesting 💗

Cons:
Very expensive city to live in. Poor transit system for a metro area of about half a million people. Only the central part of downtown is easily walkable unless you go to the suburbs, which are boring anyway. Unfurnished 1BR apartments anywhere within the urban area will run you minimum $1,000/month, not including utilities. Single rooms will run you well over $500/month. Most landlords/real estate companies will make you sign a 12 month lease, with very few exceptions. The provincial government caters to landlords and disregards tenant rights.
Few opportunities for vertical growth in the business world, unless you are a construction manager, nurse or doctor. If that is the case, you can do very well there.
Terrible weather.
Also, although it is a relatively small city, it actually has some pretty dangerous neighbourhoods (Primrose, Albro Lake Rd., Uniacke Square, Bridge Terminal after dark. If you know, you know). As a tourist, you wouldn't really need to worry about these places except for the Bridge Terminal, which is the main bus station for the city. You can easily get assaulted after dark.
Pros:
Beautiful scenery in the warmer months, best seafood (and some of the best food in general) in Canada. It even has a MONGOLIAN restaurant, which to me is very unique.
Very lively club/bar/entertainment scene, genuine and awesome people. Halifax PARTIES. Half a million people in the metro area but feels like a small town. People will talk to you out in public.
Close to beaches and other locations for outdoor activities. Great museums and historical sites, great universities. York Redoubt, Public Gardens, Peggy's Cove and the Citadel are must-sees.
Also, Halifax is a great base for exploring the rest of the [small] province, if you have a car. Cabot Trail, Kejimkujik, Port Royal, Louisbourg - all world-class vacation destinations.
Great spot to visit (in the summer) but it is very hard to get by there as a resident unless you are coming with lots of money.
Source: grew up close to Halifax.
We’re contributing to it
15% tax will hurt….. but the people make up for it. We’re all suffering together so everyone here are some of the most wholesome people I’ve ever met around the country/world. If you need a plug when you get here I gotchu 😂

They drove right through the construction zone..
I see all the one way, one lane with giant bike lanes streets downtown are working smoothly 😒😒
