      I've heard many mention masks and breathing to many spores can lead to flu like symptoms. "Spore lung" It usually only necessary if your gunna be there for around 30 minutes to a few hours harvesting and working.

    Have you thought of investing in a trolley to wheel around where you are working.Your not working off the ground and you can have the scale and baskets at waste level and keep all your experiment together. Also you can have some storage under the trolley for picked mushrooms.

    How often do you change that peroxide? Peroxide that's kept in clear bottles won't keep very long because light will degrade it into oxygen and water. This is why peroxide is always sold in brown, opaque bottles.

    Thank you for mentioning how wearing a mask is a good idea when being around a lot of spores.
    I'll never forget hearing about a study that found all kinds of fungi in the respiratory systems of garbage collectors because of the many hours a day they spend being subjected to the spores from moldy trash (this is why it is important that we close our little garbage bags sufficiently before putting them out in the big container. It at least minimizes the exposure.)

      Where does he live that gives him this price? Denver maybe doing crazy things, oysters grow same as Psylocybe Cubensis? (then I'll bet, they land at $30/mycelial bag, ready to grow)....Still, love these vids.
      You're a bit high on pricing... oysters are like $3/lb at the Chinese supermarket, not worth the average mans time (I attempted to slurry up a liquid culture and tossed it around the Lake [Morels would be nice to throw on the wood trails but they're $40-lb on Craigslist {See if the oysters colonize, first?}] ), Lions Mane is crazy at whole foods i think $15/lb. Maybe worth sourcing out a liquid culture and growing indoors.

Never underestimate human ingenuity :D That was just an idea that came to me, someone who knows nothing about this, in 10 seconds of thought. I'm sure there are smart people that could figured out a way to industrialize this with future AI too!

    If you're going to insist on respiratory protection might I suggest the future videos you voice over in post rather than removing your mask in the greenhouse and defeating the purpose.

    Why do you need to protect yourself from spores of edible mushrooms?

    • @Axelrun1994
      @Axelrun1994 6 лет назад +1

      I'd guess even edible mushroom spores have chance of clumping up your plumbing, so to speak. From other mushroom farm videos I've picked up that exhaust fans for grow rooms get notoriously clogged after a while.
      Working with fungi you also get a lot of contamination and you might not want to expose yourself to any of that if it screws up your grow.
      I don't know I'm just guessing, anyone can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

      As far as they are a health issue, even "safe" fungi can be unpredictable. Remember, your lungs are warm and wet, the ideal medium for fungus to thrive in. Mushrooms are great, but you don't want them, or their relatives growing in your lungs.

    • @PugilistCactus
      @PugilistCactus 5 лет назад

      Although edible, spores are bad for the lungs. Mostly because your lungs are dark and damp, and long exposure can cause infection.
