I've heard many mention masks and breathing to many spores can lead to flu like symptoms. "Spore lung" It usually only necessary if your gunna be there for around 30 minutes to a few hours harvesting and working.
Have you thought of investing in a trolley to wheel around where you are working.Your not working off the ground and you can have the scale and baskets at waste level and keep all your experiment together. Also you can have some storage under the trolley for picked mushrooms.
How often do you change that peroxide? Peroxide that's kept in clear bottles won't keep very long because light will degrade it into oxygen and water. This is why peroxide is always sold in brown, opaque bottles.
I've been spending time with the help of my son researching into how to grow mushrooms and found an awesome website at Gregs Mushroom Grower (check it out on google)
Thank you for mentioning how wearing a mask is a good idea when being around a lot of spores. I'll never forget hearing about a study that found all kinds of fungi in the respiratory systems of garbage collectors because of the many hours a day they spend being subjected to the spores from moldy trash (this is why it is important that we close our little garbage bags sufficiently before putting them out in the big container. It at least minimizes the exposure.)
Damn that looks like such a fun a rewarding hobby. I bet the chefs pay good money for that kind of quality. I love mushrooms. Damn those you harvested were gorgeous. I bet they taste like a dream. Garlic, butter, and fine chopped challots with your shrooms over steak. Mmmmmmm👍

If the average price is about $10 a pound, and he harvested 42 pounds of mushrooms in a day, that's about $420. Probably significantly more than that, considering $10 was the price for his cheapest mushroom. How long does a harvest cycle like this take?
Hi I am a regular chef from the area. We often experiment in our restaraunt with these mushrooms using flavour profiles from the local area like deer skat and badger turf and most recently we used composting toilet reed bed spawn that had a really woody and earthy flavour and smelled exquisite.

Well one, you're protecting the mushrooms from contaminants in your breath, and two, a grow room like that can have billions of spores in the air at any one moment, so even if the spores aren't toxic, they can irritate your lungs and cause issues years down the line.
If you know what vertical farming is, you could probably rig a pipe system that allows for designated fruiting holes and automation by cutting the shrooms off the holes and refilling pipes with new mycellium. Never underestimate human ingenuity :D That was just an idea that came to me, someone who knows nothing about this, in 10 seconds of thought. From other mushroom farm videos I've picked up that exhaust fans for grow rooms get notoriously clogged after a while. Working with fungi you also get a lot of contamination and you might not want to expose yourself to any of that if it screws up your grow. As far as they are a health issue, even "safe" fungi can be unpredictable. Remember, your lungs are warm and wet, the ideal medium for fungus to thrive in. Mushrooms are great, but you don't want them, or their relatives growing in your lungs.
