The builds could also exist for the purposes of making the Player’s Choice copies of the game, since that’s usually the one time they get to manufacture an update
@@GeniusGaming 60hz is why NTSC sucks so much 😉. Films are an utter nightmare at 60hz, and the 50/60 split plagued gaming until the digital age. Not that we can blame the guys who invented TV for that - blame their ancestors who built the electrical grids!
I know a lot of people have different ideas on why it exists.. I'll just speak as a software engineer myself: this feels like Nintendo probably shipped the console, this disk, and documentation, to schools and game devs, for the purpose of helping them learn the tools they'll be working on. For the disc: teaching how to make/utilize debugging tools. They may have had a small snippet code snippet/symbols given as part of documentation, to teach them how to add a breakpoint in running code, and have the console trigger it, to see what all data the console gives back. Nintendo probably had this as a procedure for education and studios that were struggling to understand the written documentation. (Maybe not a procedure.. if Nintendo wasn't contacted for support that much, it may have been an impromptu solution for teaching)
Was anybody else thinking there was possibly another game that used MK DD mechanics and were preparing to add new maps, karts, and character like come on look at the DeBug Intro it looks so cool
Could it not be a build for the Players Choice reprint? It's not Nintendo, but I used to work in Sony's first party QA and we occasionally used to test updates for the "Greatest Hits" re-releases for first party titles when they wanted to use the opportunity to patch some content.
There is the infamous Jet Moto 2 Championship Edition where Sony asked the creator for the original copy of Jet Moto 2 because Jet Moto 2 Championship Edition is not the original copy of Jet Moto 2 for the Greatest Hits label but Sony's CD manufacturing plant made a mistake and put the Jet Moto 2 Championship Edition copy and burned it instead of burning the original copy of Jet Moto 2.
Could it be anything to do with Nintendo wanting to do a full online version for the Gamecube, so a later re-release. Or speaking of re-releases, a revised version for the budget Nintendo players gold re-release?
this kinda shit really makes you realize what kinda wonders nintendo has locked away. the gigaleak was only a very small sample of what they have to offer, so it'll be interesting to see what kind of development wonders get into the hands of the public next
That is immensely cool the item my thoughts are at could be a debug unit version of the Mario kart arcade as I know that runs off the base of the GameCube edition from the emulation scene 😊
The gigaleak already proved that, they are meticulous, preserve everything and have backlogs of games, systems, and even random stuff like prototypes that their developers create, some have even comended nintendo for their efforts to save their own history specially when you compare it to other companies
@@KopperNeoman Yeah they're definitely less common, or at least not talked about as much. But I suppose their appeal really depends on the person. I love seeing all the changes made to games before their release, so those are more interesting to me.
Was there any standout differences outside of the debug tools included? Like say, maybe handled lag better in notable areas or had additional character animations?
I Think i figured it out! Maybe this was used to help develop Sonic Riders. the gameplay looks very similar. the game was relased for the gamecube only a couple of years later. it explains the date, the sega controller and the game.
Is there a way to tell the ver of SNES games, I did guy 4 diff game genie but they did not seem to work, I later found out Nintendo would update the games to not work with game genie, So if you have newer builds game genie does not even work. That's really interesting! 👀
A little feedback about the video itself, starting from 3:32, I think the music is a tad louder.

We need to get Modern Vintage Gamer on the case.
There was LAN support in the original, online support makes sense. The broadband adaptor couldn't have been planned for ONE game 😶
GO away larry nobody asked yous
I would love to have an Aqua Blue Gamecube; it looks so good in that color.
Outstanding overview!
What makes this very cool that the disc its also found on vimm vault which you can emulate the debug build!
I see potential in this channel. How do you only have 1,000 subscribers?????
This build could also be a refrence build for Mario Kart Arcade GP or used for interns/trainees at Namco/Sega.
I'm happy this was discovered.

lmao the gigaleak could become the mini-leak if a high level individual at Nintendo ever goes rogue
@@dexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx6537 probably won’t happen though

damn this seems like evidence for "dreamcube theory"

this shows that nintendo has great backups of their games

yea but they're not willing to share it with the world so we have to rely on leaks

Interesting! It's a shame it's post-release, though, I'm not sure if I would count this as a prototype.
That's actually more interesting. It's far more common to see prototypes than it is to see a release build compiled with debug features.

this is so cool man i just found your channel it’s great what you do!
If this is a build made after the game released, would this be a rare instance of an anti-prototype from the game being developed on after release?
