Glad to see competitive Mario Kart 7 get some exposure! I've been playing that game for years and always felt like it was by far the most underrated of the recent entries. Of course it has a smaller community and underdeveloped mods as a result but it's still active and has just as much depth and interesting mechanics, so I wish it got the love it deserves.
This Mario Kart was my Teenage Game. Mario kart DS was my childhood game (sadly never owned a wii) but Mario Kart 7 is so much better than DS. But playing Mario kart DS with friends local as a child was one of the best things. Im so broken that Nintendo doesnt release a new Mario Kart. Im playing MK8 since nearly fcking 8 years Man.... Its insane -.- Mario Kart always has a special place in my heart, even Im a massive Zelda, Half Life Alyx (the first time I cried in my life because of happiness, this experience is INSANE) and Mario in Generel Fan, (and CoD but thats shit since BO3) Mario Kart is something I hope I can play till Im old. Its sooooo much fun this series.

I actually helped him a lot in refining the driving around the course enough to edge out Endo's No-Glitch TAS by about .1 or so. Hope to see you do more Mk7 related stuff in the future :)
This is an awesome video Troy! Happy to see the community I call home get some love! To clarify a few things you mentioned in the video, just about every strat you see in the video is done in RTA runs. The exceptions to this are the first Airship Fortress glitch, the Dino Dino Jungle wall ride, the second half of the Mario Circuit 2 wall ride, the big skip on section 1 of Rainbow Road, and the Coconut Mall skip (because it doesn't actually save time). We also don't have proper tool assist tools yet, so it's all just brute force to get these tricks to work.

Btw the Maple Treeway turn skip you were wondering about, people usually do it online ( in lounge wars rather) with mushrooms. It's much too difficult to do shroomless with the online combo
MK7 is still my personal favorite Mario Kart, and the one I spent a lot of hours time trialing on. I never was in WR contention but I managed to beat ex WRs on a few tracks by the time I stopped playing the game. I do like coming back now and again to check up on the TT scene, glad to see you giving it some coverage.
i remember discovering that shortcut in GCN dino dino jungle on my own when i tries to time trial MK7, was fun to get it, i even did the first shroomless shortcut on my own metal mario is cool
I remember when, back in Mario Kart DS, DK Pass had the secret item box, and it didn't matter if you were in first place, last place, or doing a time trial, you could get some mushrooms or even a star lol. I don't know if that was intended by the devs, but it was pretty fun to use.
I've only used a couple of early-discovered shortcuts myself, and nowhere near some of the more glitchy ones discovered later. Still, I am proud that I managed to beat all the Expert Staff Ghosts using only Luigi when I was playing this iteration of Mario Kart.
I think they will bring back double dash as a game mode and that you can flip upside down in your cart. So there are 2 ways to play the track. One normally and one upside down. And you can switch between the 2
The new twist for mk9 better be the return of inside drift, wheelies and funky kong. If not im probably going to have to live without funky kong playable in a new mario kart and that just saddens me

Few missing things from here, Dino Dino Jungle has a respawn glitch that is used in tt wrs and tases, mario circuit 2 has a slower respawn glitch and some weird glider trick where you fly over the OOB section and its insane though neither are considered glitches, there was a daisy cruiser glitch that was used in between the period of the one you used and the one currently used, coconut malls is slower and there isnt much effort being put into making it faster and finally you missed a bunch of tracks (koopa cape, bowsers castle 1, mushroom gorge, neo bowser city and hopefully soon there will be a rosalina's ice world one though i was hoping william could get it and hoard it till christmas day but its so precise no one has gotten it on tas yet [edit: RIW won’t happen])
my guess on MK9's new twist will be qte/warioware style microgames along the tracks for more speed/item, but you lose nothing for failing cause i'd imagine ppl would use their items to sabotage you mid qte. i know its a wild guess, but i just cant think of what they could possibly add as a twist. maybe 24 or more players, but that would make online chug, and im p sure they know they cant execute that without fixing their online.
I learned it in a day. Was watching old videos from back when the cut was discovered and just tried it over and over again with metal mario b dasher slicks and a heavy glider. Got it in the evening, woke up the next day, it was a sunday, kinda just whipped out my 3ds and completed a 3/3 run, I haven't gotten any luck ever since
@@savagejack5714 The wario shipyard one is actually done 3/3 in the wr. The airship fortress one has absolutely not been pulled off humanly, it's extremely precise, and staying in the wall once you're in it is quite difficult

Whenever I tried it, the cannon forced me down, and I SWORE I did the setup correctly.
