I even have the nintendo sticker on back that says property of Nintendo and the techs that serviced it and dates. Says g. Yokoi 11/1992 pass with a few other names that i couldnt reference. This is super cool that they did this. Also, did you know there was a playable demo of Link's Awakening at the Comsumer Electronics Show in January of 1993? The only footage I know of has been put on the games Prerelease page on The Cutting Room Floor recently. I've been trying to find more footage, but I've had zero luck. The game would've still been in the middle of development at the time of this footage.

There are a few disk writers in collections around the eastern usa. Ive seen atleast 3 of them over the last ten or so years. You can find some smaller akihabara resale stores that arent hard offs or bigger chain stores that owner have as special request items in the backroom but only sell to specific collectors. I saw one for sale for like 5000 usd in hakkaido back in the 00s had no way to get it home or i would have bought it

Its incredible how all this was loaded in one level. Usually a demo gives you seprate levels to choose from to get a taste of the different parts of the game, but to put it all in one big world is just magical.

Looks pretty good. I wonder what other sorts of optimizations would have been possible to get it to run better, if at all possible. The base engine and architecture looks impressive by GBA standards, but you can see the framerate absolutely tanking even without any on-screen combat happening, so I'd imagine it being totally unplayable once you start implementing the standard Quake enemies.

Wow. Reading that video description takes me waaaay back. The Mushroom Kingdom is one of the first websites I visited on a regular basis in my early days on the Internet! Its Mario encyclopedia existed long before the Super Mario Wiki (let alone wikis in general). I always liked reading the Special Features, and the Mailbag when that was active. This year (2023) marks the website's 26th anniversary. There are still occasionally news posts, but it (understandably) doesn't have the same level of activity it used to.
