- This cartridge contains a simple tech demo meant to showcase the capabilities of the SNES DSP1 chip to developers. It was programmed at Nintendo's Kyoto HQ, however, this copy originated from Nintendo of America and was donated to us by developer Randy Linden!

That’s pretty impressive for snes. Star Fox looked great for the time but the console struggled to run any 3D, so this is really cool.

Probably. I was able to very easily code Z-Collisions in Mode 7 last year using Multimedia Fusion. Not sure how much SNES technical limitations would affect things, but the collisions weren't complex at all. ruclips.net/video/oaEChBA9zjU/видео.html
Full 3D with free camera movement would be possible on the SNES - the only reason there weren't any games that did it was because games like that weren't really a thing yet.
The GBA - a comparably powered system, for example - had plenty of full 3D games, primarily because it released _after_ the 3D revolution happened.
@@alfo2804 I'll take made up information for $2000, bob. Starfox and Stunt Race are "full 3d" games along with Vortex and i'm sure some others I'm forgetting. Starfox 2 definitely has "free range" 3d - an easy example.
You killed two birds with your post - being wrong AND going off the rails. We were talking about Mode-7, not traditional 3d.
