    You counted 6 red USB...The 7th is the Bios update that can be used as a 7th high speed port when not needed for BIOS update. This was a great YT review. I just got one of these at a great price.

    I just found this out today.
    You said. "When a device is plugged into a PCIe 5.0 M.2 socket, regardless of whether it's a PCIe 4.0 or 5.0 device, the PCIe x16 5.0 slot will operate at x8 mode." True its true!
    Yes, but there is a catch!
    Per PCIe updated specifications:
    The "x8" and "x16" refer to the number of lanes available for data transfer. PCIe 5.0 offers twice the bandwidth per lane compared to PCIe 4.0, so when you have a configuration of PCIe 5.0 x8, it provides a similar data transfer rate to PCIe 4.0 x16, because 5.0 x8 has the same total bandwidth as 4.0 x16.
    Therefore, you won't typically experience a significant loss of performance with this generation of graphics cards or the likely next generation when running at PCIe 5.0 x8 speeds, especially for gaming and most common computing tasks.

    You missed out on the audio system. They used ESS (not sure which chipset) and with better transistors for the audio me thinks. Not next gen but good enough. just sharing.

    For Asus you pay for the brand alone! This Gigabyte board overclasses the Maximus Hero Z790 by far in price/quality and performance in my opinion. Always had Asus MBs and they are really good but thank god I dared to switch. Got a Seagate Firecuda 540 M2 Gen 5 on this badboy and wauw what a speed. Nice vid.

    Just received my open box special from newegg and realize they failed to included the black cable. I have the braided sata cables. Think i saved $200, which is worth it, so now I just need to keep watching to see what those cables go to! PC case is pending delivery, so I can assemble and see if the board actually works! Of course, likely need to buy whatever black cable it is. I can't figure it out from any of the videos I've seen.

      For right now this is how most MBs are that have gen5. I'm sure in the future it will change. Probably with Intel 15gen. It is a cpu limit

    Hello, thanks for the review. Do we need to take out the GPU in order to have access to the M.2 SSDs ? Imagine if I want to change one of the M.2 and have to take off the GPU, and in order to take of the GPU, I need to take off the CPU cooler ? Wouldn't it be better if all M.2 had independent heatsinks ? Thanks. 🙏👍

    • @PlanetKryos
      @PlanetKryos  3 месяца назад

      A gpu does not go in a m.2 slot. M.2 slots are for storage drives. A GPU goes in a PCIe slot

  • @AFpaleoCon
    @AFpaleoCon 8 месяцев назад

    Are you M.2 heatsink, either for the pcie 5 slot or the big flat one super jingly jangly and just flop around like they’re not held in tightly? That’s what my new master X is like that just came.

    • @PlanetKryos
      @PlanetKryos  8 месяцев назад

      Not too sure what you are saying. The m.2 PCIe upper most slot is meant t9 be loose

  • @Zarcuel
    @Zarcuel 10 месяцев назад

    I got the xtreme x, correct me if I’m wrong but even tho your pcie becomes 8x due to a nvme ssd, there shouldn’t be a huge loss of performance for the gpu right?

    • @PlanetKryos
      @PlanetKryos  10 месяцев назад

      Not a huge loss. Normal suff not at all. But I would need it for video editing rendering. If you are into mining it would. If it was a AAA game it might slightly.

    I chose this board for my recent 19-13900k build and so far I couldnt be happier. Gigabyte did well on this one and it has the feature set I was looking for with out all the gaming flash like a lot of high end motherboards. Would have been nice to see usb-c display port on the I/O and a second maybe 2.5g lan port would have been good, but these are features I can live with out. While Asus quality has taken a shit and buying their products is hit and miss these days, Gigabyte has continued to improve. You also get more for your money with gigabyte. With Asus much of the premium price you pay is for the name, and quite honestly with their crappy quality lately, there name doesnt mean much to me

    • @PlanetKryos
      @PlanetKryos  10 месяцев назад

  • @drwhatley

    I agree that Asus comes with more extra stuff in the box, along with a better box. But, the Asus Z790 Dark Hero costs $150 more and you still don't get a 10gb lan or the full implementation of wifi 7. Asus went kinda cheap on the wifi 7 part.

    • @PlanetKryos
      @PlanetKryos  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah at the time I made the video the board was only $60 cheaper, then was able to get it through Amazon and sold by Amazon for $550. I'm sure gigabyte won't let me down. Thx for the comment

    Hi, i got a MSI z690 with an 13600 and have 4 m.2 nvmes who are all bound to the chipset. (and win10 is on the one who is connected to the cpu.) Is that the reason my chipset is always around 80°C? thanks.

    I will never use 10 fans headers.
    No normal person will even a top gamer, when almost every case comes whit hub that connect the stuff.
    Also so many usb ports is never going to be used just sitting dust on the motherboard.
    So wry do anyone even what to buy it, at the first point, be realistic about the setup.
    So alot off it is useless for a to big a price.
    MSI pricepoint is even better for productivity motherboards.
    Asus is for sure the most high priced motherboards in the world as it has been for a decade now.

    • @PlanetKryos
      @PlanetKryos  9 месяцев назад +1

      Just because you would never do something and see no value in it, it doesn't mean someone else doesn't. I just installed 12 fans in my case for the new build. If you don't like it, don't do it. It is a high-end MB for high-end users. Seems like you are not one, so not for you. No problem with that. I happen to like mid to high-end MB for my personal pcs. That is the beauty of having many choices in life...in this case PC parts. Maybe you can't afford it, idk but that is fine as well. I can do over the top stuff for me, others, and on my own channel.
