Clearly you have not driven one and you do not understand the purpose of this vehicle, as it is not in the same category of regular SUVs. Although it cannot be driven at high speeds, it still is a good vehicle for highways, although its main purpose is off-roading. So the context of the video is knowingly out of place, it is like if you named 7 reasons why not to buy a Suzuki Swift Sport and you listed off-road conditions. In its environment, the Jimny is an excellent vehicle, of course, like any other, with its drawbacks. I am the happy owner of one and have driven it both in highways and in dirt road conditions, and as since the beginning I was aware of its capabilities and limitations, I love it. That is why it is so important to make informed purchases with the objective opinions of experts and not only based on a subjective comment based on a technical sheet.
Well done mate, I feel like I waisted my time watching this nonsense number 8 should of been the lack of colours 😂 and 9 it's shaped like a box, they clearly failed
You are clearly correct, this expert is an Ai/computer voice. Those that like these little Suzukis already know before they even make the purchase. The Jimny was not meant or purports to be a GWagon or Rover.
@@imsmiley23 5 door isn't a hybrid. Same engine, transmission and low range box as the normal model, but with some beefed up shaft components to handle the extra weight. It does have some different cabin gizmos - the Aussie spec 5 door has adaptive cruise control and new infotainment screen. I'm ordering an 5-door auto box in the new year and wish we could get it in the LITE tech-stripped spec (no touchscreen, no LED lights, basic manual aircon), but that's only for the 3-door manual.
I think this guy is forgetting one simple thing it’s intended for being a light off road vehicle for small weekend trips, light easy to go through sand and muddy terrain simple interior because it’s not a luxury once again weekend off-roader
I have a jimny 2023 as my main vehicle and the only things I didn’t liked was no arm rest and cup holders but this things where easily fixed. Other than that I love this sexy little car.
It has door arm rests/handles the centre one is over rated 😂 omg the more this idiot talks while I'm writing I feel like throwing my phone. Clearly, your 7 reasons for NOT wanting to buy a Jimny does not apply to us in Australia . We certainly don’t buy the Jimny for any of your reasons mentioned . By the way, we also don’t eat in our vehicles, so chicken nuggets a poor reason not to buy a Jimny 🤣🤣! We understand many Americans eat & drive, we don’t . And most importantly, we buy the Jimny to go shopping, short trips to the bush & hopping down to beach, for long trips we use out Toyota Land Cruisers, so here in OZ, the Jimny is our favourite knock about vehicle. I don’t think the US are able to build a comparable vehicle.
People like this moaner are idiots. Yes here in New Zealand they are very well loved as a all rounder. There's a massive waiting list of 12 months which people are putting theirs on marketplace etc for 10 to 20k above new price
7. Lightweight is pretty much always good. It drastically improves it's performance on sand and mud as it is much less likely to bog. It makes it far more agile on rocks and broken terrain. Best, it lowers fuel burn, which reduces emissions and increases range. 6. I don't know where they get the idea the Jimny is heavy on fuel. It's pretty much the most efficient true 4WD out there. Is it fuel hungry compared to a Yaris Hybrid? Yes. It's also slow compared to a Ferrari, cramped compared to a Ford Falcon wagon, and low tech compared to a Tesla Cyberwank. The reason I'm going to trade over to one in the new year is that I worked it out to be the lowest emissions, lowest fuel burn true 4WD (i.e. mechanical 4WD with low range, solid axles and reasonable ground clearance). 5. It's a workhorse 4WD not a limo. Why would anyone buying one care about something that adds weight and makes maintinance and access to components and anchor points harder? Honestly, I would be happier if they offered an option to replace the carpet with rubber matting. 4. See above. People buying this car don't want electronics. In Australia we have a LITE version without any infotainment, just an old school radio. If it wasn't for the fact they don't offer that with an automatic transmission that'd be my choice. Touchscreens are just one more thing to fail and be hard to repair. 3. Tell me you're American without telling me you're American. 2. Rear air con vents in a Jimny? Let's be honest, the rear seats are strictly for ocassional use. They were designed to easily fold completely flat because that's where the Esky and sack of firewood goes. And maybe the dog too. 1. It's an offroader, not a sports car.
These people didn't get it. Jimny is not a luxurious, fast highway cruiser, it's not what it was built for. It's a small, basic, adventure vehicle, not a Rolls Royce. And the absence of a lot of stuff means there is less hit that can break.
I don't see simple dashboard controls as a drawback when we basically got iPad screens shoved into so many newer cars. Having everything as a touch screen creates a distracting and often laggy experience. Also, the MPG from what I read was about 30 MPG which isn't bad at all. Your points about lack of insulation and noisy highway driving are very valid though.
You know these modern cars, they have somuch of really really really advanced electronics which means that they have unlimited electrons in them. When these electronics are switched on, those unlimited electrons rush out and flood the road.... they go and fill out in every nook and cranny of the road thus making the road very smooth..... so smooth infact that the car literally glides over it. The jimny does not have that advantage of those electrons because of which it is so difficult to ride offroad. 😝
I own one, and I love it's simplicity. If you are a crybaby and wants comfort.. I guess it's not for you.. simple as that. Better check the brochure, watch some videos and test drive before buying..
I was on the 2yr waiting list fot the first import Steel wheel SZ4, no sat nav [ it is now the 5 ] As a 70yr old I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Tiny, noisy, uncomfortble, hard plastics, zero aero on motorway, just like the cars I rememeber. Alas now with power steering, air con, it may look 80's but is a modern car underneath. I could aford a new defender but think they look a bit entitled, showy, a Jimny is not a satus symbol. PS rubbish irelavant review.
keep it simple it is an offroad car for camping lovers with some of onroad drive not for highway and not for speed and it is cute and sexy and with ability of modification :)
You just described all the reasons i love this car. I love the simplicity and rawness of the Jimny. We have a Model Y and this is a perfect second car for us. Easy and cheap to maintain, goes everywhere and puts a smile on people's faces when they see one.
Agreed, the Jimny is not everyone's cup of tea, but then it was neither designed to be, nor does it pretend to be. Having owned a Jimny since 2021, I would only agree with two of the seven reasons, the lack of insulation and the limited interior storage space. Lack of weight, that's actually an advantage, fuel economy is not a problem, the wheels are certainly not big & fat, it's "off road capability" is THE REASON to own one, you do have to refuel frequently but that's because it has a tiny fuel tank, my smart phone integrates just fine and the advanced driver assistance systems are there. It has DRLs, and it's too small to need rear air conditioning vents. Steering & handling - definitely a matter of inappropriate expectations - we're not discussing a compact crossover SUV intended for trips to the mall here, if that's what you want, then the Jimny is not for you, this is a body-on-frame construction, live axle, rear wheel drive (when in 2H) purpose built off roader, and it's going to drive like one, I knew that before I bought my Jimny and I have not been disappointed in the slightest. I found this video looking for details on the new five door Jimny, which I see as potentially "bigger & better" and I'm seriously considering one.
I’ve had one for 18 months. So far it’s been excellent. Lots of off roading in order to plant out trees I grow from seed. So far I’ve had no problems as you would expect from a car bought brand new, but I do work it. It’s not a Landrover, but for the off roading I do it’s perfect. For driving on motorways etc, not an issue.
Once you get 225/75/R15 or 235/75/R15 tires plus some good suspensions like dobinsons, it will give you way more stability and I'm sure you'll love it.
All the exact reasons u have said makes Jimny a unique desirable vehicle….This vehicle is an old school true blue off-roader without electronic junks…This is a vehicle for exploring unreachable places not for highway cruising or shopping in supermarkets 🙂
Huh! Clearly someone has a blinkered view of what a vehicle should be and absolutely no understanding of what the Jimny was created to be! I so many respects these are actually positive aspects to look for in what the Jimny is supposed to made into!
Feels like the narrator doesn't love exploring the nature. Try bring your vehicle to dessert and deep forests, mountains, on summer and winter, off-road and no roads, I would predict you'll create another video that says "I Was Wrong"
Well.thanks for that. We've just biught one today.Always wanted one. Had the Samurai in the 90s. Taking it to North Wales next weekend and going to bloody enjoy it.
I don't understand what the throttle controller actually does? It's cheap upgrade but looks like a gimmick, I have the auto version 3 door. What benefit does it give since it's not an expensive or difficult to install upgrade so I would consider it if it actually makes a big difference
The reviewer has an impressive grasp of the obvious, especially given the price point of the Jimny in comparison to full size/ high end SUVs. The comments about fuel efficiency are absurd, the small 1.5L engine is suitable for city commutes, the small size and enhanced visibly mean that it is an ideal city car. But snark aside, the review is a valuable reality check for those who aren’t familiar with the vehicle.
The Jimny has a cult following and for good reason. Allot of reviewers that aren't familiar with the Jimny's heritage don't realize that the cons that they usually state for this vehicle are actually the very reason why people buy them. These vehicles are low tech because that's what people want. It provides reliability and ease of repair. Especially in off road conditions. These vehicles really shine off road so naturally there would have to be some drawbacks to comfort on road. The light weight makes the vehicle incredibly nimble off road and also makes for a very cheap 4wd. These are just some of the many reasons. So no, I don't want heated seats, sun roof, reverse sensors, tire pressure sensors etc. I want something that's cheap, rugged, reliable and very good off road. That's basically it's market interest. I think you really need to understand a vehicle and its target audience before you make a uneducated review on it.
I plan on buying a 3-door Jimny because of how it looks and where you can take them. Also, to experience overlanding at a much lower rate. Many had spent $100k to a few $M for their vehicle and they deserve all the luxury that comes with it but I don't see many of those on the mud trail. I want to experience my Jimny, take it with me where I always wanted to go. I see my self growing old with my Jimny yeah that kind of feeling ... sorry you missed it.
If I wanted a to carry lots of stuff, I would buy a Ute, if I wanted a car full of electronic gadgets, I would buy a sedan, if I wanted a highway cruiser, I would buy a big sedan, if I wanted a hugely expensive gas guzzling 4WD that would send me broke and depreciate thousands of dollars every year I would buy a huge 4WD, that I would be scared to take off road or on the beach - but if I want a cheap runaround with 4WD ability and minimal electronic crap to corrode and breakdown, I would buy a Suzuki Jimny. 95 percent of the time, I am driving by myself, and the remaining 5percent of the time is either a mate or significant other - the jimny has to be one of the cheapest 4WD’ to run and maintain ever made ands its so reliable it hardly ever needs to see a mechanic. I feel guilty taking my Jimny to a mechanic as I have to beg him to find something wrong with it as otherwise it’s just taking up his floor space and time for no return.
The old and new jimny are owned because they both have character. It's more of a personal pet where it will be a companion where ever you go. One thing for sure it will take you home in any weather conditions.
Only valid point I give you is the gasoline consumption. Mine is a 2016 so 1.3l engine and I have noticed that it consumes almost the same as the Dmax 3.0l Turbo.
What a load of crap, I don’t buy cars for the drive through dining conditions and did you ever think that most cars these days have got so much tech on them that most people forget how to drive. To many distractions leads to no self awareness on the road. Take the car for what it is and enjoy getting back to basics.
Yes, I hate getting out of my car and sitting on a table. Why would I want to walk around and get exercise. Us who love the outdoors hate walking. I want a car with all the bells and whistles I did not need 10 years ago so I can spend lots of money on repairs. I love taking my car in for repairs and I found a shop I actually don’t have to get out of the car. I could just sit in there.
I drive one on the highway at speed every day of the week, it doesn't get jostled around like you say it does. I doubt this guy has ever driven one. Btw, a Smart Car's turning radius is 7.3 meters, a 5.7 meter turning radius is tiny, stop making up lies about this vehicle.
This is a dream car for some of us old school drivers😊 this is close to anything from the past, compared to alien looking electrical machines now adays that jeopardises driving experiences
Brilliant little car really useful with looking after our horses with the dirt track's and ability to carry food and there gear . Plus not even sold as a Sport utility vehicle but as a utility vehicle.
It looks really good though, but not a safe car to drive at high speeds. People here keep saying "it is an off road car" , but still it can reach 80kph, then it needs to be tested at that speed. If you really want it labeled as a purely offroad car, then ask Suzuki to limit it's speed so people don't include that in safety tests. You don't understand safety.
that was quite funny, 1st its too light and will be blown about by the wind, then its too heavy and uses too much fuel, lack of electronic gadgets. its a small, cheap, highly capable off road vehicle that also works well around town. what's not mentioned is that its fun to drive, it puts a smile on your face and best of all it will get you to an out of the way back corner, factory standard and et you home again. there's a reason they hold onto so much resale value. I would love to know how its closest American made rival compares on all those points.
I want one sooooo bad I have a Grand Vitara got it brand new in 2005 NOT ONE PROBLEM perfect suv 👍🏻 BUT living close to beach with flooding I need something that’s not so closes to the ground
Jimny is a nippy off-road vehicle, why would one buy this ride and go speeding ? American Jeep wrangler, Rubicon can do more but loose to jimny in climbing hills off-road. Jimny is a lifestyle machine. My ride is a Suzuki Grand Vitara bought years ago but still going strong as of 2024 !
I like that all of the reasons that they are giving me are supposed to be turns offs like they arent current issues Im dealing with now. My daily driver for the last 4 years has been an salvage 88 Ford Bronco 2 with no insulation, a broken ac and a center console that isn't very functional (doesn't hold giant US fast food cups, too shallow to hold any cups). So it all gravy to me.
My daughter's first car was a 2000lb Toyota Yaris, I've had that car bouncing off the speed limiter many times. If you think a Jimny is scary I challenge you to drive a tractor trailer across Wyoming with 70mph winds or the Chesapeake Bay Bridge during a tornado warning. You're soft boy
I just saw one this evening in Phoenix. I like it. All seven of the reasons given is why I like it. I've read quite a number of negative articles against the Jimney since I got home. One article states it can't be made street legal yet I saw one on Olive heading East with a license plate. Some car manufacturers might be scared of the Jimny.
Oh no my off-road vehicle will be light and will be able to go even high with less effort and will guzzle fuel when i put wheels that are known to do that. I will hear my engine, and enjoy the noise of me putting my foot on the gas pedal, how horrible. The vehicle has little to nothing that is not needed and fewer things to break, the horror. Yeah the storage space is kinda bad. But the vehicle is simple and does what a car has to do - drive and keeps you safeish
Lol…why hate jimny that much? Are you from toyota? Ford? Or Kia …dude when creating a car, theres an engineer..and they should know what will be the proper ratio of weight against its size…the regular consumption of the car is 12 to 14 kilometers per liter of gas, not bad at all.
Can’t wait for this channels next review when they go over the lack of off road ability of the latest Ferrari.

At any rate it would be nice in Suzuki came back here to the states with this vehicle.
I don’t want Advanced Electronics - They usually lead to Electrical Problems- The Jimney Sounds Great !
What a load of crap,
I don’t buy cars for the drive through dining conditions and did you ever think that most cars these days have got so much tech on them that most people forget how to drive. To many distractions leads to no self awareness on the road. Take the car for what it is and enjoy getting back to basics.
If you agree with this video you shouldn't be considering to buy a Jimmy, buy a Rolls-Royce instead
“The wide 5.7 meter turning radius adds the the inconvenience” lmao.
You obviously dont own a jimny
Hi, 2013 Jimny owner here. Would be interesting a jimny with sunroof. All other reasons are just for people who only go on paved roads, city guys.
Paid for by the Ford Motor Company. Man this review sucked.
this is a good vehicle... just stop it
Yes, I hate getting out of my car and sitting on a table.
Are serious dude? I think you never drive or know 4x4 vehicle in your life.
Which year mileage efficient..?
This is a dream car for some of us old school drivers😊 this is close to anything from the past, compared to alien looking electrical machines now adays that jeopardises driving experiences
Brilliant little car really useful with looking after our horses with the dirt track's and ability to carry food and there gear . Plus not even sold as a Sport utility vehicle but as a utility vehicle.
Now i can see why this has only 60 likes...
Missed the entire point of the vehicle. Impressive!
that was quite funny, 1st its too light and will be blown about by the wind, then its too heavy and uses too much fuel, lack of electronic gadgets. its a small, cheap, highly capable off road vehicle that also works well around town. what's not mentioned is that its fun to drive, it puts a smile on your face and best of all it will get you to an out of the way back corner, factory standard and et you home again. there's a reason they hold onto so much resale value.
I would love to know how its closest American made rival compares on all those points.
Jimny + roofrack + larger tyres + rear and front bullbar, overlanding gears and equipments. Weight is gud enuf👍🏻
half of the reasons to not buy it, is like trying hard to convince me to buy it :P
It's not an SUV, it's a 4x4.
This vid made me love the car even more
Dude, one buying a Jimny knows all these "reasons". These are the reasons why i BOUGHT my Jimny. It is not a car, it is a toy. 😂
I want one sooooo bad I have a Grand Vitara got it brand new in 2005 NOT ONE PROBLEM perfect suv 👍🏻 BUT living close to beach with flooding I need something that’s not so closes to the ground
Like landrover you just love them the jimmy is very reliable
how about aircon?
Is this satire?
I just simply love my Jimny though 😂
It's such a head turner on the road, just fun to drive over all
Jimny is a nippy off-road vehicle, why would one buy this ride and go speeding ? American Jeep wrangler, Rubicon can do more but loose to jimny in climbing hills off-road. Jimny is a lifestyle machine. My ride is a Suzuki Grand Vitara bought years ago but still going strong as of 2024 !
Lol I have one and I absolutely love this car ❤
I am a bad content creator, But man… this is bad as bad
Good video, but try to do less cuts and more slow motions. It seem like an action movie
Sounds like a no frills, bare bones, adventure car.
I will use it daily city driving. Home 🏠 to work.
Have you tried the 5 door version? You should.
Obvious propaganda to stop the popularity of the awesome vehicle...like consumers reports did woth the samurai
I WANT ONE SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO GET ONE
I LiVE IN NH???
I FKN WANT ONE
Best vehicle around.....love it!
We living in free Country
You can say what ever you like. For me Jimny is a little beauty 😍 I love it.
Jimmy is built for people love in off-road and adventure place that people don't came always due to in accessible.
Jimny is a good vehicle.....
it's not a regular SUV
it is a compact dual solid axle true off-road vehicle
Well only the isolation is a bit of a problem.
But that can be done later.
All the rest is fine.
Put some lead in the back in windy areas 👌
I just saw one this evening in Phoenix. I like it. All seven of the reasons given is why I like it. I've read quite a number of negative articles against the Jimney since I got home. One article states it can't be made street legal yet I saw one on Olive heading East with a license plate. Some car manufacturers might be scared of the Jimny.
They’re all the things which make it FUN 😀
It's a legend 🔥
Oh no my off-road vehicle will be light and will be able to go even high with less effort and will guzzle fuel when i put wheels that are known to do that. I will hear my engine, and enjoy the noise of me putting my foot on the gas pedal, how horrible. The vehicle has little to nothing that is not needed and fewer things to break, the horror. Yeah the storage space is kinda bad. But the vehicle is simple and does what a car has to do - drive and keeps you safeish
How much did they pay you to bash one of best off roaders in the world.
I want the blue one!
"less appealing choice for certain drivers"
Continues to list reasons why people who wouldn't like the jimny, won't like the jimny.
I find this video not very enjoyable to watch with the very short video clips. Somewhat annoying. Otherwise a good overview.
