Sorry, but I felt just the opposite. They could've given a very emotional end to Aerith, but instead, they just introduced more confusion with the terrible plot of the echos... The worst is that they supposed to be gone. Why did we have to confront them and erase them in the previous game? Why did they tell that the fate was changed because the echos are gone, if in the next game they bring them back again? All that just to mess with the story and the narrative. I expected to cry with Aerith's death, but I just got bored.
You know ff15 story wise actually really good it about a king that destiny to die so it can stop the calamity and the ending is for everyone to find closure as we always know they are always happy ending in fairy tail
I'm someone who played XV way later after all the development hell so I could enjoy it fully honestly, I think it has one of my favorite bad dudes and endings in general. Even with the contentious Lunafreya I think that ending with the wedding and closing their eyes into the logo was perfect still
lmao I got that idea from someone else, that if you change a little bit you could get some of a "psych!" moment and a sad one, but the official one is a mess, there's like 5 instances where she is more active than in the rest of the game, so I took some liberties
I like how the original moment was so simple yet heavily impactful, meanwhile in rebirth it's so needlessly complicated that the weight of the scene is lost to that fact, yet the simplest edit restores that weight to it. The official feels like a change that'd be made in a Star Wars special edition, I literally have no idea why they felt the need to change it, coz all they did was make a huge fucking mess

For starters, Sereh is alive in the alternate timeline. Think about this. Why is it that in Final Fantasy 13-2, your main character is Serah? With time travels, their deaths technically don't count as deaths because in an alternate timeline, everything changed.
The edit at the end confirmed for me that rebirths ending was just fine and making it the same as the 1997 game but in high def would’ve been a mistake
Interesting topic for sure. Noctis hits me the hardest. At least he found peace in the Beyond with Luna. Galuf's death was intense for such a lighthearted adventure. Tidus' fading is bittersweet. Glad there is no sequel to ruin that. I just reached that point in XVI. Damn....I thought he would become a permanent member. Also, lets not forget the deaths of Serah (edit: copyright, I see), Zack and Class Zero. Theoretically Reks would also fit in here. He was the party member in the prologue.
I wanted to show Serah so much lmao, it was the main reason for it to show how death is instant and not involving many spirits of such character being active 1 minute later. I realized there's a couple of guests like Reddas Reks, other FF2 ones, but I stuck with the main ones to not make it too convoluted. Which also includes spin offs like CC and T-0, I try to make it as specific as possible.
Who said Noctis and Lunafreya are dead? As far as I remember, devs didn't confirm it. Plus, Astrals and especially Bahamut can resurrect people with their power. Noctis and Luna are hardly dead or else the throne room would be intact to make it too perfect to be real.

I considered it but the way it showed it was like in parts, so there's no big "Auron dies" scene, you have the Yunalesca hit, and then him admitting he die later, and then he vanishing with the sending so it's a little bit hard to unify in one single moment for simplicity
it felt too much like Square was trying to have their cake and eat it too with Rebirth by trying to strike some odd middleground where Aerith is alive but also isn't at the same time as to not upset fans -- only to end up creating more polarity around the matter. The result leads to a recreation of one of the most impactful and shocking scenes in video game history that is so botched that people can't even make heads nor tails of what even happened due to the layers upon layers of timeline BS surrounding it (istg whenever the Whispers are around, the writing quality just takes a nosedive). I wish they viewed Aerith's death as an achievement gained from excellent storytelling and character writing rather than an error that needed to be fixed. It was so jarring to see that the biggest scene in the game was so mishandled especially after the game handled everything else perfectly. At the very least, I hope Part 3 can justify all of this
To be fair, I think everything but Aerith is well written in Rebirth, so I don't think it surprises me how a mess the end is, in a way. I don't know if I need Part 3 to justify it specifically, as I care about the journey itself and what happens in the middle as I did with Rebirth, not the conclusion of the main beats at this point

I am, I made sure none of the pictures showed a dead character. The logo is covering who's dying on top left, Sephiroth is on top right being a menace, the bottom left is a hand and sword, and bottom right is Yuna crying (not the one that dies)

We just have to assume off screen death cannot count as actual death because there is no proof of death shown.

Yeah, that's fair. I mentioned before that the reason I ended up not having him is because I have like 3 different scenes to show that, the Yunalesca hit where he was mortally wounded, but also he telling how he crawled to the Ronso and die there, or when he was sent at the very end, so I felt there was more context needed than just 1 scene and ended up not including it.
I thought about Auron and you are right, but also, I was confused about which unique scene to use about him, because you have him being slashed by Yunaleska, then him saying "yes I'm dead, I died crawling to Mt Gagazet", and then him dissapearing at the end. So instead went for "single scenes"
So that sounds like revived characters don't count for this video because as proof, any character that died can be revived and being called the unsent. If this person counts revived characters as dead, then they have to count Cloud as dead because in Advent Children, Aerith used her limit break powers to revive Cloud.

FF2 is so funny to me, because not only a lot of death happen, but also in the GBA re release they added an extra dungeon in the afterlife consisting of everyone that died 😅 they had a lot of options

Yeah, that's fair. I mentioned before that the reason I ended up not having him is because I have like 3 different scenes to show that, the Yunalesca hit where he was mortally wounded, but also he telling how he crawled to the Ronso and die there, or when he was sent at the very end, so I felt there was more context needed than just 1 scene and ended up not including it.

I thought about Auron and you are right, but also, I was confused about which unique scene to use about him, because you have him being slashed by Yunaleska, then him saying "yes I'm dead, I died crawling to Mt Gagazet", and then him dissapearing at the end. So instead went for "single scenes"
So that sounds like revived characters don't count for this video because as proof, any character that died can be revived and being called the unsent. If this person counts revived characters as dead, then they have to count Cloud as dead because in Advent Children, Aerith used her limit break powers to revive Cloud.
