True. I am with you 100%. I absolutely hate thieves. People should consider the consequences/be held responsible for criminal behavior instead of punishing hard working citizens who are protecting what they worked hard to buy. That said, we have to consider that in some states, if you use deadly force to protect property, you risk being arrested, prosecuted/locked up for manslaughter/murder. Some people feel that material things/property are not worth someone's life. And I can appreciate where they are coming from . You really can't put a price on a human life. However, who are we talking about here? They are predators/criminals! They're not hard working honest people! These POS low life criminals who in all fairness should take responsibility for what happens to them when they go out and victimize people within their communities! They have free will like everyone else. They make a conscious choice everyday to live a life of crime. So what type of life is it we are trying to preserve in our society? Are these criminals actually contributing something positive to society that we should value/want to preserve their life? I don't think so. When they are locked up very few of them ever rehabilitate into something good. They eventually reoffend. Prison is just a university for higher criminal learning and the taxpayer is flipping the bill! Majority of criminals don't get better in prison they get worse. Especially after the type of hell that they are usually put through by their own criminal buddies. If criminals don't want to be shot/killed over a TV, car, material things then don't commit the act! Don't provoke/place someone in a position where they may feel the need to use deadly force against you. It's not rocket science for God's sake! Any seasoned career criminal will tell you that if you decide to live a life of crime you had better be prepared to pay the ultimate price that comes with that lifestyle. Criminal activity comes with many hazards to include being killed. Not sure why that concept escapes people's understanding! If facing the possibility of being shot to death is not a deterrent to criminal behavior I don't know what is. If you chose that life style then you also chose the consequences that go with it.

Police have nothing to do with handing out jail time/sentence. Their job is to catch the criminals. It's up to the justice system/courts to decide their fate based on all of the evidence/facts gathered by the police and argued by the DA/prosecuting attorney. Cops get tired of risking life/limb going after some of these predators and arresting them only to see them walk with little or no time behind bars. Now, the cops do bear some of the burden because if during an encounter with a suspect they violate dept policy, violate suspects civil rights, lie on a police report, plant evidence, etc.. then a criminal will more than likely walk free. They'll be lucky if they aren't sued. Evidence will be thrown out of court. We have to understand that our justice system is and may never be perfect while corrupt/self serving politicians on both sides have anything to do with it. Laws change over time as well. Some for the better others for the worst. People in seats of power to worried about public opinion/votes to care unless it affects them directly.

Who's going to go around checking wheels against names?
The police recommended that... anything to deflect
And that's only if the police actually recover any stolen wheels, which is probably an extremely small fraction of wheels stolen.
Wait! Stop right there. Let me read your wheels!
Every store they intend to sell them at will check

You can slow them down with a 45acp

If you only put one wheel lock on, they'll leave it for last and bend it out. Put two on, opposite from each other.
Security alarm plus tilt sensor.

Locking lug nuts r pointless because the thieves will bring their own wheel lock keys to snatch your wheels.
How about for every tire someone steals they lose a finger make it law then it’ll stop
