Jan Wenner runs both Rolling Stone & the R & R HofFame. If Warren was NOT featured in the magazine, he has ZERO chance of Jan putting him in his museum. 💩
Love reading the comments of those who love Warren. I've been on board since 1976 when I was the music director at a small radio station and received a demo of his 1st album. We didn't incorporate anything into our playlist, but I took the album home and wore the grooves off it. He's been my favorite artist for 45 years and will continue to be 'til MY ride shows up.
I only got to see Warren in concert once, that was in London England, a wonderful evening.. I am 76 years old now, but still shed a tear when. i play 'Keep Me In Your Heart'
Oh...WARREN...!!! I cried like a baby listening to your opening song...I am a full-blooded Cajun whose parents uprooted and moved out West as a small child. I haven't heard that song since my Gran'papa held me on his knee and sang it to me, his husky Creole voice in my memory sounding very much like YOURS. I KNEW there was a reason I worship you as I do...despite what I've read of your lineage, I believe deep down in your soul, you are at least a soupçon Cajun...it's a compliment, Irreplaceable One...my Golden God Of Music....Merci beaucoup, Mon ange, for the beautiful memory...my Gran'papa...and YOU..
I dare not die before my time if for only to hear songs new, unheard by me and to enjoy every sandwich, shoulder to shoulder with the Rolands and Suzys of the world. Holy shit this live show is amazing!
Warren wrote about this concert in his diary. He mentioned how fun it was to play the guitar parts, and how he especially enjoyed playing with Neil. He said the piano didn't do too well and he got a little lost in the old songs. He also mentioned that he met Paul Simon backstage and interacted with him again at the airport on the way home. He mentioned a funny encounter in eddie van halen's dressing room where when eddie was changing he said not to look or you won't be able to sleep.
Met Warren after a concert at Ft Worth TX ... we talked for quite a while, a very nice, friendly guy ... yeah, I got his autograph, signed "Strength and Muscle and Jungle Work" ....
I used to listen to Warren in the 80's, few people know him in Brazil, didn't know much English but felt he was something special. Here am I with 61 still listening to his old songs and understanding his lyrics as well. I love his music
@@Oh_I_Will he was quite underrated. When he first started out it was predicted him and Springsteen would be the next big thing. He is nowhere near as popular as Springsteen even though he is a far superior artist.
There are some great artists that no words can ever match the spirit that is stirred from the words and music that Warren gave us! Hopefully your glowing in your afterlife.
Always and forever one the best songwriters/musicians/performers ever. I will never forget the two concerts of his I was lucky enough to attend. He was amazing--and his music equally so.
Was there ever a pilgrim soul to equal THIS man? Who could truly Stand In The Fire...and send that fire to the very center of your being? Gods, Warren....you are badly needed and sorely missed. Since you left, music has lost its magic for me. And "song" is just another four-letter word......
This is from one of Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit that was held at the Shoreline for many years. All acoustic performances, no electric instruments.
WARREN ZEVON ARLO GUTHRIE GORDON LIGHTFOOT PETE SEGER MUSICAL ARTIST THAT SPEAK TO OUR SOULS. THANKYOU FOR ALLOWING ME THE PLEASURE OF LISTENING TO YOU ALL.😂❤
Why are many of our greatest and most inspiring Musician/Artists dying conspicuously ahead of retirement or old age? Like Morris (52)& Robin (62) of the Bee Gees, Warren Zevon, Tom Petty, Donna Summer, Natalie Cole, Joan rivers, Whitney, (48) Marvin Gaye, John Lennon (39) +-many many more. They all seemed to go into the hospital for surgery, then succumbed to a fatal condition. These stars can certainly afford the best of Health Care. TRUE, some are Drug overdoses, like Janis, Jim Morrison ,Jimi Hendricks, Amy Weinstein, Andy Gibb, ect, its not only Tragic, we miss them, It looks like the Doctors and Hospitals aren't saving their lives the way the claim they could.
One only just started getting into Zevon, I love his work. Seen all his videos but this just seems so dull, if you compare to Capitol 82 I think it was. He was so good there. I dunno this is just uninspiring no backing no drums no bass. Still love the guy tho.
He died Sept. 7th 2003. Digonosed August, 2002. He was expected to live 3 months so he made it over a year. So if your asking if he knew he had cancer, obviously not. This concert was in 1993. Around 9 years before he was diagnosed.
You can tell Warren is not at the top of his game here. His voice is shot and sounds like he has a cold. Granted, this short clip is still better than most others...
Hey, I love the man, always have, and I'm glad and happy for him that he straightened out.... But I'm not gonna lie. I know it's selfish. I understand how many ways it's wrong. But god damn, I love me some off the hinges, hanging by a straw, drenched in gorilla juice Zevon!
Put this man in the rock-'n'-roll hall of fame already....
Who cares about the hall of fame?
I agree the HOF is a joke, but just out of respect for a true deserving artist.@@lewisham
At this point it's more the rap/pop hall of fame, and wouldn't want to belong to that club.

15 years since Warren had left us!
Forever missed!

Are you referring to his second self titled album that was recorded in 1976? I am a big Zevon fan, but the first one is truly for huge fans only.
@@bradziegler2655 Yes Brad. I have the original now, but I picked that up after he was dead.
Warren Zevon still takes the cake !!!
Ah-Oooooh!!! 👹
@@bradziegler2655 fans of other music ;) (I still have 3 copies lol)

Vote for Warren Zevon for 2023 rrhof!
Warren Zevon was one of the greatest musical artists of his (& my) time. His music endures.

The epitome of the uncompromising artist... And an intellect second to none... a master of nuance.

Matt Frisco, Man of Action Lucky man
A brilliant man. Huge heart, skills & intellect you don’t see every day. Thank God for sharing him with us peasants. Who love him.
Warren is one of the greatest musicians ever and underappreciated by the media .. what a pity.
Amen. I adore him. Genius.
A rare performance of one of my all time favorites- Frank and Jesse James! 💕
One of the greatest of all time...So underrated. R.I.P. Warren...a legend...
Under rated my Arse...guy was the unofficial 3rd member of the Late Night crew...

@Brenda Harper it’s the truth! I get more out of Zevon’s music each time I listen to a song. It gets better and better.

Beautiful. Thanks to whoever posted this gem of great American music. RIP Warren. You belong in the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame.
One of the best. Period .

We lost a good one with Warren, he left us too early.
Sweet how they respect each other with the feedback...and look at Warren rock that 12-string. Still living on in my soul- RIP
What a treat 🍭 to have Neil join Warren onstage! 🤗
I know he's playing that piano in the sky... Love you Warren...
still miss him
A distinct voice singing in the wilderness

Kat Harper yup
You are a poet. Beautifully expressed.
I Loved "Splendid Isolation" with Neil Young! Nice! :)
I saw Warren once,Aug.2002 Edmonton, which turned out to be his last performance. Wish I got to shake his hand.....

I think Neil is blasted on this one
idiot comment.
He'was no Gordon Lightfoot but i loved him
fucking neil young in this and no mention in the title or description
Can you imagine Warren, Tom Waits, Ian Dury, and Frank Zappa all on tour together?
omg...Warren Zevon AND Neil Young...I'm done.
WZ was the best, man.

oh... Neil's harp
Lakes of Pontchartrain is nice.
song is very similar to the Byrds John Reilly
How was I to know they were all with them Ruskies-nothing changes -cant trust the help haha???
Any other recordings of his Jesse James songs sung to the tune of Rowland the headless Thompson gunner?

He didnt even know when he made Life'll Kill Ya in 2000, but he must have known in his bones.
Have ta say that this is pretty dull-wz is so uninspired here that he barely acknowledges neil at the end of their duet-maybe just nerves?

The reason it’s dull is because there’s no auto tune here.
