- Do Christians and Muslims worship the same God? Is The God of the Quran the same as the God of the Bible?
The Quran claims that Christians and Muslims worship the same God;
Surah 29:46 (Sahih International): "And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, 'We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.'"
The Catholic Church Teaches That Christians and Muslims worship the same God. Vatican 2: NOSTRA AETATE The Church regards with esteem also the Moslems. They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all- powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth,(5) who has spoken to men; they take pains to submit wholeheartedly to even His inscrutable decrees, just as Abraham, with whom the faith of Islam takes pleasure in linking itself, submitted to God.
However, there are a number of significant differences between the God of the bible and the god of the Quran.

Having a Pope who decrees where the Church stands on various issues, which changes the body of the Church itself in regards to what scripture says is sin. Why does a man get to decide these things and lead the masses astray? The Crusades are in no way supported by Scripture, as Scripture is clear about each individual accepting the gift of Salvation. It is clear that ir cannot be forced upon anyone. The Virgin Mary is worshiped, but that is never hinted at in the Bible. All of their rituals and idols, all forbidden by Scipture. This is all because men in the position of Pope have distorted Scripture. Catholics are not a good comparison to use. They are just as far away from Biblical truth, mired in man-made rules and viewpoints. The Pope's edicts mean more to them than the Word of God.

I always found it strange that Muslims say Allah has no son but affirm that Mary was a virgin when she was told she was pregnant with Jesus. Who then is his father?
I want to add here, Allah is not a general arabic word for God, its a proper noun and it was a name of arab pagan diety, later adopted into islam. Its not the same God of the bible. The word for God in arabic is 'rab' not allah.

@@randycarson9812 - I am not a Trinitarian Randy. I do believe Jesus Christ is God. I do believe the Holy Spirit is God. I do believe the Father is God. But, I don't believe there are three persons in one God as Trinitarians suggest. So, I am not a Trinitarian.
It is a Trinitarian teaching that Father, Son and Holy Spirit existed eternally in a loving relationship as three persons of God. The Bible doesn't teach this. Hence, I don't believe it.
So, I stand by what I said. I don't trust infallible humans, I just trust the Biblical scriptures that were human written but God inspired.

The God of the Christian Bible is "I AM THAT I AM"..............as a sinner, I am not on equal footing with God, so thus I am prohibited from calling Him by name ( Ask yourself: Do you call your parents by name?, so then who are you to call God by name?)
Two problems:
1. You identify as “a sinner.” One Christian identity is child of God. Another is saint, meaning, one whom God has sanctified and re-identified as “not sinner.”
2. A child of God has the privilege of addressing God the Father (in second person) “Father,” God the Son as “Jesus” or “Lord,” and God the Holy Spirit as “Holy Spirit.”
However, when addressing others (third person), it’s perfectly reasonable to call God “YHWH” or “the I AM.”
People assume YHWH is the Father, but Jesus is the Word, the Person of God who interfaced with man. Jesus applied the title, “I AM,” to Himself.
God needs no name to distinguish Himself from other gods, who ARE NOT. No greater being exists with authority to name Him. God chose “I AM” for our edification. We may and should use it appropriately.

He references this and the adoption of the religions of their time, but Muhammad converts them into monotheism by expelling all other gods except the Moon God. There are plenty of scholarly references in the book, though I don’t know much about the scholars in references.

God is a spirit, John 4:24! Not spirits, but spirit. God is one, in that he is a spirit, but he functions as three persons. The spirit of God is the Holy Spirit. The spirit of Christ is the Holy Spirit, and the spirit of the Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit. Three persons in one spirit.

I'm Christian, and my God the father is not a trinity, the scriptures clearly state the God the father resurrected Jesus, not that he resurrected himself. Acts 4:10, Romans 4:23-25.
Perhaps I’m missing something but I feel like you could say that they technically do worship the same God as is but just have a very incorrect view of the attributes of that God. If two people were to know me but described my personality very differently, it doesn’t mean that they’re not both talking about me. I cannot find in Scripture, the Apostle Paul borrowing a “triquetra” from the ancient cults, and then repurposing ancient alchemy's “One Essence and Three Substances” to form a Trinity as the description of the God of Israel. Because that is the etymology of the “Christian Trinity”.
Millennia before Christ, all pagan religions and cults, used the “triquetra”, the three-cornered connection to the power of three, as their common theme of the meaning of life. Interconnectedness and infinity in the triangle is the foundation for all these groups. In the pagan perspective, it represents the maiden/mother/crone. In the Christian tradition, it represents the father/son/holy Spirit.
The Christian Trinity also borrows from ancient alchemy, which held the concept of the existence of life as being One Essence and Three Substances. The One Essence, was also referred to as the First Matter, the fundamental substance that underlies all matter, and is the source of creation. The Three Substances are seen as different aspects, or manifestations, of the One Essence. The Three Substances are not separate entities but rather different forms of the One Essence. The key differences between the One Essence and the Three Substances lies in their nature and purpose. The One Essence is the fundamental substance that underlies all matter, while the Three Substances are different manifestations of this essence. Modalists hold this belief about the Trinity, as it is more logical than classical Trinitarianism.
Out of the Council at Nicea in 325 AD, came the confirmation of the Second Person, the Son, and introduction of a third Person, the Holy Spirit to a new found Trinity Godhead. At the Council at Constantinople in 381 AD, the triquetra of three Persons in one Godhead was solidified by confirming the Holy Spirit as the Third Person. Absurdly, The Trinitarian religious leaders reduced in rank Almighty God and Father (the One Essence, the First matter), to be just one of the Three Substances, equal to the other Two Substances. The obstacle for the purveyors of the Trinity then became, if the Three Substances are equally the One Essence, or Being, called God, you now have three independent Gods, and polytheism directly conflicts with the one God of Scripture.
So the Doctrines of Eternal Generation, Hypostatic Union, and Eternal Procession of the Holy Spirit evolved in an attempt to shoehorn into Scripture, without offending it, that three Persons who are all Gods, can, at the same time, be only one Being called God. So God number one, the Father, becomes the source of the eternal generation, or eternal begetting of the Son, and along with God number two, they both become the source of the eternal procession of God the Holy Spirit.
Why, oh why, couldn't they just read Scripture? There is one God in the Old Testament, a union (echad) of two Persons (Almighty God and the Word of God), in one immortal, invisible Spirit. One of the two Persons, the Word of God, incarnated from the form of God (invisible Spirit), to the form of a visible man (Php 2:6-8), and was filled with the Spirit, that is His Father, without measure. (The image of God in man is two persons who, in a holy union, become one flesh. God and the Word were two Persons, from the beginning, in the holy union of one Spirit - John 1:1-2). The Risen Son ascended back to the Father, where He came from as the invisible Word of God, and where He dwells eternally in His Father's own Self, the “unapproachable light”, His Own One Spirit.

The question is loaded. Islam is a Christian heresy. Insofar they believe in the same God but have a distorted view of God. The point is this:
Who does define who God is? People don't have that power. They cannot create God by their imagination. But they can get wrong in their perception how God is. If they do so the question is whether they worship a false God or the true God who they misinterpret in some aspects.
Islam believes in the one God who is personal and who created heaven and earth and every human being. They believe that humans will be hold accountable by this God. What they get wrong is how God provides salvation by his only son, Jesus Christ. Although they believe that Jesus Christ will come for judgement.
Yes, their faith has great deficits but it is directed to the same God.

Different meanings of words. God hates workers of iniquity, yet He patiently gives all life, conscience, air, food, and time to repent, and takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked.
So, God can hate unredeemed sinners on an emotional level while loving them on a principled, practical level.

By using that way of thinking the God that the Hebrews worshiped is not the same God that Christians worship because the Old Testament showed that God was filled with wrath but the New Testament doesn't. All three Abrahamic religions came from the same religion, and worship the same God.
You need to study the creation of Islam which was created by the Roman Catholic Church to persecute Jerusalem for them.

God throughout bible he was called our father. Even the prophets that Muslims claim are their prophets like Moses David Jesus. Also referred to God as their spiritual father. However in Quaran Islam teaches Allah is no one father and the closest relationship someone can have to Allah is like a slave/servant to a master. No Muslim would dare to pray to Allah and call him their father.
2. Allah in Quaran is referred to the greatest deceiver/ trickster. In the bible God never deceived or trick someone. The only person who is referred to the as great decivever/trickster/ liar is Satan

Also Jeshua did the Will of HIS Father not HIS own Will to become a human - the Origin of Salvation for Mankind came therefore from HIS Father (another example!).
Let the Holy Scriptures interpret itself through The Holy Spirit(3. Person) alone, not through feelings or doctrines of men/demons.

Love and hate are not opposites. Do you love your family? Then look at this verse. Luke 14:26 "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.

I am Roman Catholic, it’s true V2 stated this but it not dogmatic. In fact I wholeheartedly reject this nonsense statement . The so called god of Islam is not the God of Abraham. Jesus pronounced all foods clean to Peter, and also said that what defiles a man is not what goes into his mouths, but what comes out of his heart.
As long as you hold your view of halal, don’t eat it. But don’t judge those who are stronger in the faith than you are.

Forgiving sin had different meanings before and after the cross. When Jesus forgave sin prior to His sacrifice, it was atoned for, meaning, covered. This is like having a debt that’s covered by an IOU. After the cross, forgiveness has been washed away, paid in full by Jesus’s sacrifice.
To ignore this difference and say God forgives at any time is to confuse meanings and oversimplify, and that oversimplification leads to a distorted view of God.
