Job said, “ if a man dies, will he live again ?” God said there was no one like Job. Job was hoping to be resurrected. He didn’t think he was eternal or going to heaven when he died. He was hoping for a merciful God to be merciful. Also, Saul couldn’t see Samuel , but the pagan witch who was directly disobeying God could. She saw a demonic entity pretending to be Samuel. Finally, Lazarus was dead for 4 days. There’s not a single mention of what he experienced because he experienced nothing but death until he was called from the grave by Jesus, the same way we will hear his call at the last Trumpet
This gentlemen's interpretation reflects higher criticism, in that he takes the clear teachings of the Bible in infuses his own opinion of what he believes the context should be saying. Resulting in the exact opposite interpretation from what the ideas conveyed through the biblical texts. In other words, he's infusing his own ideas to twist Scripture to fit his preconceived ideas, rather than allowing the Scripture to interpret itself.
I don't feel that any of those versus fully justify the topic that you are sharing. I don't claim to understand what the state of the dead is, but i cannot understand how we can go straight to heaven or hell when Jesus hasn't returned and the judgement hasn't taken place. Why would the dead in Christ rise at Jesus return if they are already in heaven? Why would the wicked later be raised just to go back to hell. This does not make sense. Perhaps we should not make definite statements about things we don't yet fully understand. It's not important, and we fool ourselves thinking that all our dead friends and relatives are in heaven just because they were 'good'. Who is actually working out their salvation with fear and trembling today?
A Believer has eternal life (a portion of the Father's Spirit), so their spirit cannot die, but will be in the full Presence of God when the body dies.
Body stays on the ground. Aka dust returns to dust. Spirit goes to God. At Christ return, the dead earthly bodies transform to glorified bodies. Not glorified souls.
@@regine3147 I am. Not a seventh Day Adventist, or Jehovah’s Witness simply a Bible reader. The Bible simply does not teach an immortal soul effect in Ecclesiastes. The Bible says the soul that is sinning dives. Since were all souls and all sinners when we die, we die and await the resurrection according to the Bible teaching most people believe this false teaching that the soul is immortal. It is a hard pill for humanity to swallow that when we die, we just die, but that is what the Bible teaches several scriptures throughout the Bible and scripture at a time and twist them and say that’s not exactly what they mean or that’s not in contacts, Solomon was not. He was a man what he meant.
Stop listening to Satan. Read scripture --Matthew 10:28 directly states, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.' This verse clearly tells us the soul continues on after death and Satan has no hold on you.
@@johndena2882 I just noticed your other response. That verse I offered does indeed say that the soul does not die. But let me give you another (and please offer any that support your point). True believers in Jesus Christ go immediately to heaven when they die (I am simplifying, because even the demons believe and tremble, but by Believe I am also combining that along following scripture). By “heaven,” I mean a real place of comfort and blessedness where God dwells. Of course, the bodies of believers remain on earth, awaiting the resurrection, but their souls/spirits go to be with the Lord. Believers know that because 2 Corinthians 5:8, and many other verses tell us this. “Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” Now Satan of course would like you to believe otherwise, that is why he hates videos like this. But truth will prevail.

@@iThinkBiblicallyGabe, Scripture says no man has entered Heaven save He who came down from Heaven,(Jesus). It also says even King David did not ascend to Heaven but remains w us to this day. If one is either in Heaven or Hell already, then where does that leave room for the second coming of Christ to judge the living and the dead? Makes no sense.
Why God say to live man forever must eat from tree of life? Genesis 3:22 ...Genesis 2:7 is it Adam a live before God breathed to Adam breath of life? What will happen when God revoked breath of life from Adam? When God put souls inside in new born babies.,what the Bible say about this? Why God create bodies when souls or spirits exist independently from bodies? Why resurrection of bodies is necessary when souls or spirits live independently of bodies? Is it resurrection some kind of show, spectacle?
No physical bodies will ever rise after physical death if you have been begotten of the Fathers incorruptible seed and born of his spirit, we are already in our new body, a spiritual body, a NEW Adam. Most people are still confused about this all because they've misinterpreted the allegory of the resurrection story in the gospels. Along with the editing by blind guides of Rome. No physical body ever rises from physical death. Never has. Rome literalized a spiritual allegory in the gospels which is easily proven throughout the epistles.
@@jdaze1No sir. Paul says our bodies are changed from corruptible to glorious and incorruptible, AT THE LAST TRUMP. Why complicate the Bible with your own pet doctrines?
The word nephesh has several meanings. It can mean creature, or one's desire/drive. So when the Bible says that the soul that sins dies, that doesn't sound immortal. A proper translation would be, the creature that sins dies. Man is a living soul, he doesn't have an immortal soul. Notice when God created man, man became a living soul, God didn't give him a soul. Lazarus was dead for 4 days and twice Jesus said Lazarus sleeps. If Jesus took Lazarus out of heaven or "hell ", you'd think that Lazarus would have had his own book in the Bible; either the beauty of heaven or the horror of hell. But Lazarus didn't mention one word about this astonishing experience. God said that only he is immortal and lives in unapproachable light. Out of the 31,102 verses found in the Bible, God, Jesus, Paul or any of the other apostles say directly that I have an immortal soul. I believe it was Plato who said the soul is immortal, being influenced by Greek philosophy and pagan myths.
Solomon, although with his struggles was still wise enough for God Himself to allow his words to remain recorded in the scriptures for our learning. The dead know nothing, the body goes to the grave and the spirit goes back to God (who gave it) only to be reunited again on the last day to be rewarded with eternal life and others for shame and everlasting contempt. The Bible makes perfect sense when it talks about those that “sleep in the dust of the earth.” No one is in hell because no one has been judged. Even King David has not yet ascended into heaven! (Acts 2:34) The Scriptures are so beautiful and clear yet others make them so complicated to the point that I don’t know who’s interpretation or comment to trust, yet I’ve learnt that the Bible itself can interpret itself beautifully and clearly, we on the other hand take it to another direction.
Also, the verse right after "the spirit returns to God" says "meaningless, meaningless". Did Solomon really mean: "When you die, you go to heaven. O how meaningless"? How can it be meaningless to go to heaven? I love, how sometimes the verses, that people quote, end up proving the opposite. It's the same way, when they quote "God is a god of the living", when in fact, Jesus was arguing for the reaurrection and the idea of heaven after death would destroy his argument. Or when Jehovah's Witnesses quote John 17:3, that there's only one god, when they themselves claim that Jesus is a second god. (Trinitarians believe in only 1 god Jehovah in 3 persons, while JWs believe in 1 god Jehovah and 1 god Jesus).
Did you watch the video? Remember when Caleb pointed out the importance of 'Context'? This is a perfect example. So just so you know, Peter is addressing a crowd in Jerusalem shortly after Jesus' ascension and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. He is making the case that Jesus is the promised Messiah and has been exalted by God. In this verse, Peter is quoting from Psalm 110:1, which says: "The Lord said to my Lord, 'Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.'" Peter's argument is that David wrote this psalm, but he was not speaking about himself. David had died and was buried, and his tomb was known to the people Peter was addressing. Therefore, David must have been prophesying about someone greater than himself - the Messiah. By saying "David did not ascend into the heavens," Peter is emphasizing that David's physical body remained in the grave. This contrasts with Jesus, who had bodily ascended to heaven after his resurrection. The point is to show that Jesus, not David, fulfilled this prophecy by ascending to the right hand of God. This supports Peter's larger argument that Jesus is the promised Messiah and Lord. So when you take it out of 'Context' you are presenting it in a false light to serve your own purpose. But you are correct on the point about "making them so complicated to the point that you don’t know whose interpretation or comment to trust". Trust the one who offers scripture in its true context.
@@DB_- Sir, your reply confirms exactly what I meant about “personal” interpretation. It’s obvious that you don’t see it the way I see it, still it doesn’t prove whether you or I am right. But of course we all have the green light to our opinion.
Q. Why does it say the dead know nothing? A. Because THE DEAD KNOW NOTHING! NO need to infer anything else, and no reason in context to tske this as anything but literal. Unless, of course, one wants to justify one's pagan errors, such as the soul being a separate conscious entity that never really dies. Ezekiel 18.4: the soul that sins, shall die.
The verse that says He comes back with those who are ASLEEP in Christ....What does "sleep" actually mean? I can definitely see how someone could interpret it as soul sleep. I certainly don't understand it. Can you address this?
Exactly! This is the error of the idea that the saved go directly to God when they die. But actually, because there are no perception of time for the dead, the saved will perceive it like they fall to sleep and next moment they are with God. Independent if it has passed 1 day or 1000 years.
It's a good thing, that you're studying this topic. Please take your time to read this comment: We have many clear witnesses for the resurrection of the dead on the last day. Daniel 12, Matthew 22:23-33, Matthew 25:31-46, Luke 14:14, John 5:24-29, 1.Corinthians 15, 1.Thessalonians 4:13-18, Revelation 20:4-6,11-15. But we have only a couple of unclear verses, that are used to support the natural immortality of the soul. And even those verses can be interpreted according to the resurrection. And what would be the point of a judgement on the last day, if the dead are already being punished? Also, this doctrine destroys some of Jesus' and Paul's arguments. Paul argued, that there would be no point in getting yourself into danger for the Gospel's sake, if the dead are not resurrected. Why not? Wouldn't going to heaven right after death be a good enough reason, even if there was no physical resurrection? (1.Corinthians 30-31) He also told the Thessalonians, that they should comfort each other with the resurrection of the dead. Why didn't he tell them to comfort each other by saying, that they are already in heaven? (1.Thessalonians 4:13-18) Some argue, that the dead are in heaven, because Jesus said "God is the god of the living, not the god of the dead." But this does violence to the context. When Jesus said this, he was not arguing, that the dead go right to heaven, but he was arguing for the resurrection against the Sadducees. If we claim, that the dead are in heaven, then we destroy Jesus' argument, because we either remove the need for the resurrection or we turn God into a god of the dead. (Matthew 22:23-33) Another verse, that is often taken out of context, is Ecclesiastes 12:7. "The spirit returns to God, who gave it." Does this mean, that our spirit is conscious in heaven? Why would Solomon then conclude this passage with, "oh meaningless, meaningless!" in the very next verse? Going to heaven is the opposite of meaningless. Maybe this comment is the answer to your prayer. Consider, what I wrote, but study the Word yourself under constant prayer. The state of the dead is a very important topic, because if people believe, that the dead are conscious, they might try to talk with them. The Bible calls this necromancy, a great sin. We know, that Satan can appear as an angel of light, and he is a better actor than anybody in Hollywood. He can impersonate the dead perfectly, because he knows our habits and secrets. And when the people get their theology from church instead of the Bible, they will fall for it.
@@DominikKoppensteinerExcellent rebuttal, and VERY scriptural, line upon line. False doctrines fail to hold water when ALL relevant scriptural evidence is lined up without cherry-picking just the desired ones. It's much like when Sun Day advocates go straight to Acts 20.7 to "prove" the apostles started observing a "new Sabbath," after stumbling over Acts 13-18, where the 7th day Sabbath was observed by Paul and many others, HUNDREDS of times.
@@jeanclaude7018 Also, breaking bread was a daily habit according to Acts 2:46. And even if it was no longer a daily habit at the time of Acts 20:7: Can you only break bread on a holy day? Even if Sunday was a special day to them, it wouldn't automatically change the Sabbath.
The idea that we can’t die, is the teaching of the demons for the Bible teaches of a a resurrection of the dead not the living when we die we die. this is what the Bible teaches I am not a JW just a Bible reader and this is what it teaches It’s not the only place in in the Bible that teaches us about the dead we return to the dust. Solomon was telling the truth, twisting the word of God does not change the truth. If when we all die then who will God resurrect , read the accounts of the resurrection for God says I will open the memorial tombs and they will come out,and from the Depths of the sea I will bring them out this indicates people that have already died. I suppose God could send us to heaven kill us again put us back in the grave and resurrect us, but that doesn’t make sense. Does it , if we die and go to hell or heaven then who who will God resurrect. Satin told eve you will not die, this was a lie anyone that believes we never die is believing the teaching of the demons.
So many twist the word of God to fit the preconceived notions in their minds. So few allow the Bible to merely explain itself, oftentimes in other books, chapters and verse. Most are unaware that when God breathed into man the breath (nephesh) of life that the same term is used to describe the beasts of the lands and the fowl of the air. It’s a physical existence and not an immortal soul, as taught by all pagan religions
Not me. I was resurrected into new life in 2016 when I was Begotten of the Fathers incorruptible seed born of his Spirit of Life. The 2nd death (physical death) has no power over me.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. That spirit which God gave us imparts INTELLIGENCE and THOUGHT in man, differing from the beasts of the earth. Upon death it returns to God…..it’s that simple and I fervently wish people would not complicate the Word!
@@DCelente The very next verse is "meaningless, meaningless!" So clearly, Solomon was not saying, "Your body dies, but you go to heaven. O how meaningless!" That would make absolutely no sense. Solomon describes the opposite of Genesis 2:7. There, God gives man the breath of life, and he becomes a living soul. In Ecclesiastes, man becomes the opposite of a living soul, that is a dead soul. Also, have you ever noticed how God never warned Adam and Eve of hell? Wouldn't etenal suffering be more important to mention than "you will return to the ground, of which you were made"?
Excellent Caleb! Yes, the subject of Ecc 9 is “fate”. Solomon is mulling over the fate of the living and contrasts it with the dead. Saying that only the living have hope, the dead are simply dead, “No extra tries left to do right”. Like verse 4, he says it’s better to be a live dog than a dead lion. Why? Well, the dog still has hope, because it is alive.
I really enjoy these videos about biblical context. Especially these recent ones that reference the Seventh Day Adventists & Catholics. This channel has been making very entertaining, playful jabs at catholicism & I love it. It's been brutally honest without insulting anyone. Very delicate balance. Excellent work!
I agree, very well done and backed up with solid scripture. Of course it hasn't gone unnoticed by the subject of the video. Swarms of SDA calling it 'doctrines of demons' only further supports the importance of these videos.
@@MushmouthJoe Mainliine evangelical there? Interesting how SDAs are most diametrically opposed to papists doctrines, yet you limp them together as groups to make "playful jabs" at. The catholic church is not only the most apostate "Christian " institution on earth, but also the beast and antichrist of the Revelation, as recognized by all the Reformers UNANIMOUSLY, 500 YEARS ago. The SDAs, on the other hand, are the ONLY denomination today, preaching Revelation 14, and proclaiming thar the papacy IS what the Reformers said it was. They are also one of the very few upholding the 10 commandments of God, rather than the "9 commandments," and their doctrines are very tough to refute, because they are biblical, line upon line. Evangelicals tend to feel smug and even snarky about their beliefs, because they feel safe in the majority. In "no more _reward_ " in the KJV, the original word is שָׂכָר (Strong's 7939) which means, most accurately, _wages_ from hired labor. It has nought to do with a reward from God on the day of judgement.
there were no blood transfusions when that was written. Blood transfusion had not been invented until 1,900 years later. Don't it bloodied meals sacrificed to idols
What about... "In that day, their VERY THOUGHTS PERISH.."? Is there some reason to NOT take that literally? Do you think there are dead folks without ANY THOUGHTS in heaven?
The word translated "thoughts" is only used once in the Hebrew bible and scholars call words like that "hapax legomena". Whenever there is a word like that scholars look at other ancient manuscripts in other languages like Syriac and Aramaic in order to understand the word better. This is where translators get the idea of "plans" instead of "thoughts".
@@iThinkBiblically Well, if your thoughts perish, obviously your plans are gone too. It seems that , much as papists try to squeeze a Petrine "pope" out of Matthew 16, so are you trying to use this minor and vague point to contradict what many comments here bring up about all the biblical evidence FOR sleeping in the grave until whichever of the 2 resurrections you are raised by. The DEAD in Christ rise first, at the LAST TRUMP. The rest of the DEAD, LIVED NOT for a thousand years. "DEAD" and "LIVED NOT" does not indicate a conscious, yet disembodied, state of "living." That's, like most Christian errors, was borrowed from paganism by the PAPACY, and made its way into the mainline ecumenical world, along with the deceptions of dispensationalism.
What did Jesus say to the second criminal who realized he was a sinner and needed to repent, didn't Jesus say to him today you will be with me in paradise after he ask Jesus to remember him when Jesus returns to his kingdom.
The bible says " I tell you this today, you Will be with me in paradise ." If Jesus went to paradise why did he tell marry at the tomb not to touch for he had not met the father
As many people have already commented on other platforms, the debate between different denominations of Christianity regarding hell and soul sleep revolves around four key words. SHEOL, GEHENNA, HADES TARTARUS. The great challenge to Christians is to decipher what these terms meant in their original cultural context in which they were written. In other words, exactly how did the ancient peoples to which these scriptures were written actually understand these terms in their original cultural context and environment. So Christians need to work together to meet these challenges regardless of their denominations.
Is Death the end of existence? When the Bible compares death to sleep it's talking about the physical body but the soul either goes to heaven or hell (Hades) upon physical death base on the person's choice if they chose Jesus Christ or rejected him when they were alive. If there was no afterlife then why did Jesus Christ tell the thief on the cross today you will be with me in paradise if there was no afterlife then that wouldn't make sense for Jesus Christ to tell the dying thief that. Also, the apostle Paul said that he was caught up to the third heaven wether in the body or out of the body he doesn't know but God knows. Also, the Bible says that it's appointed for men to die once and after that comes the judgement this clearly let's us know that their is an afterlife for both the righteous and the unrighteous and that the human soul is immortal. Also, when the Bible says that the dead knows nothing and that their thoughts and emotions perish at death it means they no longer have any participation of the things under the sun or they no longer have participation of the things on planet Earth. Also, for those who go to the lake of fire for rejecting Jesus Christ will not eventually cease to exist or go into oblivion because their soul is immortal and at that time by the time they are thrown into the lake of fire the unrighteous will have received resurrected immortal bodies that would suit them to spend an eternity in hell (the Lake of Fire). When the Bible says that God can destroy both soul and body in hell and that the wicked shall go into everlasting destruction it's not talking about that the wicked will go into non-existence as that can't be as their souls are immortal but it means that they will perish spiritually forever while being separated from the power and glory of God that right there is what it means by the second death it means being eternally separated from the goodness and glory of God as death always means separation and not going into non-existence and that applies to physical death as well as when a person physically dies their soul is separated from their physical bodies and enters into the afterlife.
The Adventist's teach that EXACTLY LIKE THE lambs of the burnt offerings IN THE LAW are the burned up and cease to exist, so the wicked will burned up and cease to exist and will not SUFFER. This is what Adventist FOOLISHLY THINK is same as the meaning of as what Christ meant the wicked would receive *"ETERNAL PUNISHMENT"* . To the Adventists, the wicked are burnt up and annihilated! Yeah, Christ sent those lambs to *"eternal punishment"* according to Adventist theology!
The soul is the natural man. When dead it doesn’t go anywhere. A soul is a breathing, living creature. When it dies it is dead. Transmigration is not a biblical concept. You have no understanding of the subject.
The point is that after you breathe your last, you cease to exist. You are aware of nothing. Psalms 115 v 17 It is not the dead who praise the Lord, those who go down to the place of silence; “Man lies down and does not rise. Till the heavens are no more, they will not awake nor be roused from their sleep. … His sons come to honor, and he does not know it; they are brought low, and he does not perceive it” (Job 14:12, 21). The dead cannot contact the living, nor do they know what the living are doing. They are dead. Their thoughts have perished (Psalm 146:4 KJV). The "spirit" that returns to God at death is the breath of life. The soul goes nowhere. Instead, it simply ceases to exist. Two things must be combined to make a soul: body and breath. When the breath departs, the soul ceases to exist because it is a combination of two things. When you turn off a light, where does the light go? It doesn’t go anywhere. It just ceases to exist. Two things must combine to make a light: a bulb and electricity. Without the combination, a light is impossible. So with the soul; unless body and breath are combined, there can be no soul. There is no such thing as a “disembodied soul.” No further reward in Eccl 9 v 5 refers to after you breathe your last before the second coming, you sleep & wait. That is totally obvious.
Because saints, dead people do not spectate the living. It’s not like spirits look at the living like watching TV. And thus, praying to one is like praying to the dark deep void of nothing 😂
Brother, I'm sorry but that is some serious mental gymnastics in just the first 5 minutes with Ecclesiastes 9:5 . How do you manage to allegorize a LITERAL verse? There's nothing to "interpret" he's speaking in LITERAL terms. I'll break it down line by line For the living know that they will die (Yes we are all aware that we will die someday But the dead know nothing (It's making a contrast between the living and the dead. The living has knowledge and the dead doesn't) And they have no more reward (This is referring to Earthly rewards, as you mentioned SDA believe in the resurrection, when you're RESURRECTED you're NOT DEAD you're ALIVE. It says the DEAD as no more reward. @3:04 You literally made up a contradiction out of nowhere. This line is also saying whatever state you die in, if you are out of favor with God there's nothing more to gain. For example Catholics pray FOR their dead relatives. If they believe there's a relative in purgatory they'll pray for them to get into heaven.) And I noticed you skipped verse 6 "Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished;" (why would your emotions perish if your soul has just simply left your shell body?) Nevermore will they have a share in anything done under the sun. (@4:10 For this part you literally made up your own THEORY, and then said Solomon contradicted scripture BASED ON YOUR THEORY)... I'm typing in caps because I am astounded. If you read that line plainly it's clear. How did you get into the new heavens and the new earth and a new sun??? 10 'Whatever your hands find to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or KNOWLEDGE or wisdom in the grave where you are going" (It's reiterating the dead knows nothing, have no reward) For anyone watching this video, I IMPLORE you just go back to the first 5 minutes, LISTEN to what he said, read Ecc 9:5-10 and tell me if what he's saying sounds accurate in regards to the Ecclesiastes. He DOES NOT explain the verse, he basically says Solomon thinks life on Earth is vain and Solomon contradicts other parts of scripture, then HE (IThinkBiblically) proceeded to MAKE UP CONTRADICTIONS. By misquoting Solomon saying "the righteous no longer has a reward" Solomon didn't say that he said "the DEAD has no more reward" and creating his own theories. I understand if you're reading this and you believe in the immortal soul, there is a strong urge to refute my points. I implore you once again Read Eccl 9:5-10, watch the first 5 minutes of the video. Watch it with the critiques I made, you'll see that it is never explained, neither does what he says makes sense. I also want to note he's associating the SDA with the JW in order to discredit the SDA. We believe Jesus is God. If you reject spiritual truths whatever little understanding you have will be taken from you.
Correct on all counts, from the gymnastics to the unspoken "cult" association with JWs. It just so happens that both SDAs and JWs see the light on this point. He implies, as many do, that "WE" ( the ecumenical majority) must be correct due to sheer numbers, and asks, "How are WE, the officials , to respond to THIS ?", as if it's their duty as the official source of doctrine to "correct Heresy " .
@@jeanclaude7018 So you both are going to call Abraham's bosom a lie? The spirit lives apart from the body. You have to learn how to use context properly
Even if you consider them cults their interpretations are actually and seemingly are biblically sound. And this teaching doesnt really bother me. I know and I trust Jesus.
Brother, thank you for clarification; however I think the way you tried to clarify the first scripture you quoted in Ecclesiastes, does not do justice to the "inspiredness", inerrentness" infallibleness" and sufficiency of scripture. If you say Ecclesiastes is just Solomon's opinions, I disagree; I believe that Solomon is inspired by God to speak the infallible Word of God FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE FLESH. All what he is saying is true, if you would look at life from that position, it's meaningless and hopeless.
Amen. exactly the Holy Spirit led him to write that. it is the WORD OF GOD for a reason. all Scripture is God breathed for our benefit even if it may not make sense. trying to make everything fit the same use when 2 Tim 3 16 mentions the numerous purposes of Scripture is liable to lead to error. God never lies nor is He deceptive but people twist His words to their own harm. the book of Eccliastes is full of wisdom and truth when taken as you have said it
So basically you're saying the dead know what is going on with the living and the living can talk to dead, which is spiritualism, which is of the devil😂 My brother you need the Holy Spirit guidance💯

Great Video! Those are great points. Soul sleep is a doctrine I have struggled with for a while since I was raised in a Jehovah's Witness family. The main objections I hear from JWs are "If there is an immaterial soul that survives death, why is there no mention of this when someone is resurrected, like in the case of Lazarus or Jairus' daughter?" Also "Why would God take someone who has gone to Heaven and put them back on earth so they can suffer an earthly life again?" What would you reply with apart from it being an argument from silence? Could you please help me with this?
In Jesus first coming He showed His miracle of resurrecting Lazarus and Jairus but both died again. Only Jesus resurrected from the dead and is ALIVE now like we read in Revelation 1:17-18. People have been to Heaven like NDEs and will suffer again the only difference is they see things from an eternal perspective now. They trust in God more because it’s their hope!

I will just say here that the belief that the soul goes to heaven creates a myriad of sins.1) Praying to the dead. 2)spiritualism.3) wrong eschatology about resurrection.4) praying to the saints. 5) everlasting he'll.
@medusa. I reject soul-sleep and believe our soul goes to be in the presence of the Lord when a christian dies. I have never prayed to the dead, nor am I a spiritualist. There is ample evidence of immediate life after immediate death in scripture or teachings that support it.
You can't contradict any scripture. Our soul goes to God. Body returns to dust. No where in the Bible says we will be chilling in heaven. Scripture does say believers are kept under an altar.
Bro you completely misunderstood solomon in Ecc 9:5 Solomon is basically expressing the state of a dead person. No more reward is just saying dead people don’t receive or give. It’s a condition of nothingness or sleep.
Now, regardless how we interpret these verses: The Bible is clear, that Jesus will come back. He will judge the living and the dead at the second coming. Our great hope is the resurrection. The Bible is very clear about that. What the Bible doesn't say, is that we go right to heaven or hell after death. We can base the doctrine of the resurrection on very clear verses, but the doctrine of the immortal soul is based upon... What? A few unclear verses. And it contradicts all logic, when Paul or Jesus speaks about the resurrection in such great detail, but only mentions the soul going straight to heaven or hell in a short side sentence. It also contradicts all logic, when the wicked have been in hell for thousands of years and will then be resurrected and judged. It also makes no sense that "the wages of sin is death", but the wicked are alive in hell forever, and Christ died to give us eternal life, if our soul is already immortal. It also takes all power from Jesus' and Paul's arguments about the resurrection. Jesus says, "God is a god of the living because of the resurrection", you say, "God is a god of the dead until the resurrection." Paul says, "Why do we get ourselves in danger, if the dead are not resurrected?", but you say, "you can get yourself in danger, because you will go right to heaven, you don't really need the resurrection". Paul also says, "I do not want you to be ignorant about those, who are asleep (interesting choice of words by the way), for we will not come before them. For the Lord himself will descend and the dead in Christ will be raised first. Then we, who are alive, will be caught up together with them, and shall be with the Lord forever. Therefore comfort each other with these words." But you comfort each other by claiming, that the dead are in heaven already. Can you force the doctrine of the immortal soul into the Bible? Yes, and you will find unclear verses to "prove" that. But this unclear doctrine totally contradicts the clear doctrine. And it opens the door for spiritism. Mar Mari Emmanuel told the story, that his dead mother appeared to him in the hospital and talked to him. He basically admitted to committing necromancy, which the Bible calls an abomination. All because he thought, that the dead are actually alive.
There's alot of verses u miss. Body returns to dust. Spirit goes to God. Can you explain this? 1 Cor 15. Tells us about Jesus return, and guess what? He's going to change our earth bodies to glorified bodies. Where is our bodies? In the dust of the earth. Where's our soul, in heaven. When Christ comes he will bring our bodies on the ground to above where our souls are.
@@Timzy2Drip The body returns to dust, and the spirit returns to God. But did you read the very next verse? "O meaningless, meaningless." Is Solomon saying, that it is meaningless to go to heaven? No, just as the body is dead without the spirit, the spirit is dead without the body. Paul also argues, that getting yourself into danger is pointless, if there was no resurrection. How could he say that, if the dead went straight to heaven and the resurrection on the last day was only a little bonus?
If only our Bible scholars would say..." I believe this particular doctrine to be true and self evident but I could be mistaken." Many , if not most Christians have changed their minds on non-essential doctrines through the years. I think this is probably one of them.
Ecclesiastes is my favorite book to use in this atheist country i live in. i don't think you have the right impression saying it was written in apostacy and that it's completely wrong. vanity of vanities all is vanity, and all indeed is in this world. everything you build up will sooner or later perish back to dust everything will go. the purpose of life is not to be found in the world, but in the Will of God our maker, who created us with a purpose. the purpose of anything is to be found in the intent of its maker. And God has given us His Word to reveal His Will for us. as the conclusion of Solomon after all his observation of the things of this world is: Ecclesiastes 12:13 ¶ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
I have been in a similar position and I agree. Ecclesiastes was a God send for me in my time of trouble and is full of wisdom and truth if read/interpreted correctly. the Holy Spirit carried the author to write this for out benefit. saying it's the words of an apostate who came back but wavers back and forth discredits the word of God. all His word is truth but it's important to be learned and stable in interpretation lest we are led to our own destruction
Bro only pull out verses from Ecclesiastes….here a little more. As a cloud vanishes and is gone, so one who goes down to the grave does not return. 10 He will never come to his house again; his place will know him no more. (Job 7:9-10 NIV) “For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, “‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand,” (Acts 2:34) “Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” (John 11:23-24 KJV)
A door is a door not a window unless it is parable or idiom or prophecy. I wonder where resurrecting people will be coming from if not from the dust where they were sleeping 😊
Its disheartening to hear the pagan doctrine of immortality from all the ancient pagan cultures being appropriated into Biblical teaching, while the Bible plainly shows that we die, then we AWAIT a resurrection from our Lord
@@RuggedCross1 It can actually mean that the next state in a person's consciousness is at the ressurrection day. So it does not contradict that we "sleep" in the grave until then. Both a person who died yesterday and thousand years ago will perceive it like they fell to sleep and shortly after wake up again.
@@patricj951 NO. The body sleeps, not the soul. Or are you going to call Paul a liar when he said We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Which means the moment you die your eternal conscious soul goes to be with God. You also call Jesus a liar when He speaks of the eternal conscious souls of Lazarus and the rich man.
@@RuggedCross1 Amen! How do they explain what our Lord told the thief on the cross about being with him in paradise if they were going to sleep until the judgement?
@@Nobody92421Quite elementary, really: it turns 'on a comma'! What when we interpret Jesus statement according to Eccl 9:5: "Behold, I say to you today, you will be with me in paradise." This is truly a more dramatic promise, since Martha also confessed the general Jewish, Biblical belief to Jesus, that her brother would be raised by God on the last day. The hope of heaven is greater with this understanding than should we separate soul from body. The Bible gives no warrant to distinguish between soul and body: for "Adam was made a living being" or soul, which returned to the dust, and the spirit in our nostrils is what returns to God who gave it. Paul's statement was based also on his experience being carried away in vision up to the third heaven, etc. His statement is not clear enough to change Eccl 9:5 and ps 115:17 and others. Also, Adventists do not agree with "soul sleep": death for the soul or human being is only akin to unconsciousness, as Jesus said, not actually the same.
The bible doesn't tell us but the soul must have left the body according to other scriptures. 1 Kings 17:20-22 Then he cried out to the LORD and said, "O LORD my God, have You also brought tragedy on the widow with whom I lodge, by killing her son?" And he stretched himself out on the child three times, and cried out to the LORD and said, "O LORD my God, I pray, let this child's soul come back to him." Then the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived.
@@iThinkBiblically so I think this should tell us when people die, their souls are reserved for a resurrection to either everlasting life or everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:1-2. Dead people are now yet to receive their reward, and this will happen at the second coming of Christ. It tells us the souls of all dead people are unconscious waiting for the resurrection.
@@Trublu52 Yeah it does unless you want to call Jesus a liar when He speaks of the souls of Lazarus and the rich man's souls as still living. Ok and how about...Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
The confusion is in understanding how mankind is constructed. We are created in the image of God which means there are three elements to our being. Mind, body, and spirit are similar to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Our soul is comprised of mind body and spirit. God is comprised of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. So while our spirit might return unto God where it came from our body (which is also us) knows nothing in the grave and can contribute nothing in this life (anymore).
@@RAFAEL27769 Nothing I said was untrue. My body is me. My mind is me. And my spirit is me. The Father is God. The Son is God and the Holy Spirit is God. You can try and shoot everything down with your impulses but you can't shoot down the truth.
@@daddada2984 Ecclesiastes states, but even the soul that sins dies the Bible absolutely does not teach in a immortal soul. This is the teaching of demons the Bible says the entire habited earth will be misled. That’s everybody in order to believe in an immortal soul and then we die and go to heaven or hell you have to ignore the resurrection of the dead and the judgment on the last day , which is exactly what the disciples preach. The resurrection of the dead , it is a hard pill to swallow to think that ourselves as well as our loved ones are just simply rotting in the grave, but this is what the Bible teaches if you read it and let it speak for itself. People will take each and all scriptures pertaining to the subject and say that isn’t really what they meant and you have to read in context Solomon was a man and men of his day said what they mean they did not mince words they have to change the Bible to what they believe instead of letting the Bible me speak for itself. The Bible says do not follow men but follow the Christ
Sometimes that's true. Its also true that there are a lot of deluded people who think their interpretation is from heaven but it's simply wrong and they can't see it because their pride has blinded them. They think they are closer to God than what they actually are.
Whats the point of resurrection if we are not dead? If I die and go to heaven... why would I look forward to being "resurrected" to go back to earth? Seems like sime sort of demotion
@@jamesdabrowski6436 Your question is problematic because it is based on an entirely false premise. The Christians' reward is to rule this world, and eventually the entire universe, with Christ. Ruling this universe and restoring God's government with Christ as fellow members of God's Family is NOT the demotion you believe it is. Is a much greater reward than sitting around in Heaven doing nothing for eternity. Now that is a demotion.
Correct James. The promise of the ressurrection has become the promise of getting your body back. But if the saved already are in God's presence they are very alive.
Curious on the position you take regarding Adam's ontology. Correct me if I'm wrong 😊 I assume you believe that Adam's soul or spirit, an immaterial part, possesses immortality and this is inherent to the human nature. But the body part of Adam, after sinning, was subject to death. And so when a human dies, the body is what stops living, but the immaterial part continues to exist due to being inherently immortal. What would your position be regarding Adam BEFORE sinning? Say Adam is out walking near a river, he slips on some algae, hits his head, and falls into the river face first. Would it be possible for Adam to drown before the fall or did he have the ability to breath under water indefinitely?
I don't think the bible answers that question. I often find this kind of philosophical reasoning to lead infinitely into other topics and you can build a whole theology based on human reasoning. This is exactly what Solomon was doing in the Book of Ecclesiastes and he ended up contradicting what was later revealed.
@iThinkBiblically I think we can deduce from other aspects of the Bible if Adam could die before sinning. Take, for example, the idea that Messiah and Adam are a type and arche-type, a shadow and reality, and the 1st and 2nd Adam. The reasoning would be "from the greater to the lesser" type of argument. Because "x" can happen to the greater, it seems reasonable "x" can happen to the lesser. Because the archetype, 2nd Adam, and reality can die without having sinned, it seems reasonable to conclude that the type, 1st Adam, and shadow can also die without having sinned. Based on the above, I think Adam could have drowned, been crushed by something, and in general die without having sinned.
@@coreyevans9543 To believe that Adam could die before sinning is a dangerous thought. Death could not enter the world ,because there was no sin yet. Even so Adam and eve were eating from the tree of life, because God told them to eat from every tree except the tree of knowledge of good and evil. After they ate from the tree of good and evil, their body began to die just like God had warned them. So that moment is when death came into the world. The Bible state that God put protection on the tree of life so that they could not eat from it anymore.

Any Church or organization that says that they have the truth and without them there is No Salvation should be Avoided. It's all about Christ and perfect finished work on the Cross! Anyone who doesn't agree are not our brothers and sisters in Christ!
So people are in heaven now? They are resurrected into perfect body? Can they see us? So we can pray to them? Like catholicism idea? They have long time in heaven than others?
SDA don't believe in soul sleep, souls die 5. Do souls die? “The soul that sinneth, it shall die” (Ezekiel 18:20 KJV). “Every living soul died in the sea” (Revelation 16:3 KJV). Answer: According to God’s Word, souls do die! We are souls, and souls die. Man is mortal (Job 4:17). Only God is immortal (1 Timothy 6:15, 16). The concept of an undying, immortal soul is not found in the Bible, which teaches that souls are subject to death.
You need to read two books, "Immortality of the Soul or Resurrection from the Dead" by Oscar Cullmann, and "Life, Death & Destiny" by Warren Prestidge. These Lutheran and Baptist theologians prove beyond doubt that soul sleep is the ONLY correct Bible teaching. Soul sleep is the ONLY LOGICAL position to take and deals with many erroneous doctrines in the Christian Church today. However, I can almost guarantee you will not take up the challenge to read them ....
@iThinkBiblically Well, yes I have. He was a brilliant theologian. His ecumenism was misguided, but I don't know of any peers who would speak against his integrity or character. But, it's interesting to throw up any red herring possible to steer away from the fact that soul sleep just might be the truth.
Big key here is that the WICKED won't rise until after the Millennium (even Job realized that he would see God in the flesh in the Resurrection). The lack of praise of those in hell is clear from other scriptures in Psalms and of course Lazarus and the rich man in the N.T. Plans die with the death of the wicked as there is no future on the earth. Good point on Job being off on stuff. We also realize Solomon said eternity is in the hearts of men.
The ABC’s of the Bible is easy to understand Jesus said: “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.” John 5:28-29 KJV
I usually agree with you but here you are dead wrong. Your claim now, that it's Solomon's view and not God breathed is blasphemous. When you die you know nothing. You are not aware of what’s going on, on earth and you are not looking down from heaven because the dead knows nothing. In order to be conscious of anything you must have a soul. But a soul is the combination of body and spirit. When the two no longer exist together, there is no soul and there is no consciousness of anything. At this present time, no one is in heaven or hell. Acts 2:29 and 34 tells us that King David is both dead and buried and his grave is still with us TODAY. But King David has not yet ascended into heaven. His body has turned to dust and his spirit is back with God and his soul no longer exist. If this is true for David, then it is also true for everybody else. Nothing happens to the dead until Jesus returns. I Thessalonians 4:13-18 makes it perfectly clear what happens when we die. The passage begins by saying the Lord does not want us to be ignorant about what happens to the dead in Christ. The dead in Christ refers to those who have died as saved or born again Christians as a result of accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. If you as a Christian, believe Jesus died and rose from the dead, then we too will eventually rise from the dead. And that will happen when Jesus returns. I Thessalonians 4: 16-17 says, “For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then, we which are alive and remain, shall be caught us together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we be with the Lord forever.” It is perfectly clear all the saved will be called at the same time. This eliminates anyone being able to say, “I got to heaven before you did.” I should point out here that as we and the dead rise up to meet the Lord in the air, before we get to Him, our bodies will be changed, in the twinkling of eye, into a new incorruptible body. Jesus then will give back to the dead, their spirits that had been placed back in God and the dead will once again become a living soul to enjoy being in the presence of the Lord for ever. This is the joy of Eternal Life. This is how the bible wants us to comfort one another as Christians. Not with, “he/she is in a better place.” Not with, “he/she is looking down on us from heaven.” Not with, “he/she is with their loved ones in heaven.” None of this happens until Jesus returns to get us. By the way, if people go to heaven immediately after death, then why is Jesus coming back to get us?
That is pure Seventh day adventist talk. I have talked to them and they are so indoctrinated in this Ellen G White doctrine, so imprinted in the minds of these members. I know 100000% fact that we never die. Our body ceases to function and have a life force but WE our SPIRIT is our true self, NOT the body. Hard to comprehend I know.
Jesus is called the Firstfruit in various Scripture. He is the firstfruit because He is the first one to be born again, of spirit being raised from the dead by His Father in Heaven. To me, its that simple, like most of the Bible
I know 100000% fact that we never die. Our body ceases to function but WE that is our SPIRIT is our REAL self, NOT the body which allows us to interact in this physical world. I left my body in 2009 only to return. I know exactly what it is to be out of the body and I know that this physical life is not the REAL life as hard as this may be to comprehend this.
.....on a waiting list for the old body's atomic particles to be dredged up from the ether when "the dead rise first". Anyone ever consider where those particles have gone after 10 years, or 10 thousand years recycled by animals, plant life, or simply intermixed with the rest of the dust of the earth. Last time I checked, Jesus said multiple times that HE would raise HIS own up on THE LAST DAY. Even Martha knew this when she said to Jesus about Lazarus..."I know he will rise again on THE LAST DAY"....and no, I am not a JW or SDA, just someone who knows for a fact that Paul DID NOT SAY "absent from the body, present with the Lord"....read what he said without looking through the lens of what MacAurther and the rest of the 'pastors' parrot.
Heavenly souls are waiting for their glorified bodies, as Christ received, in the Rapture if in Christ... after crucifixion. The old testament saints await the same at the resurrection after Armageddon. All will be resurrected after the millennium to the white throne judgment .
Our Triune God bless you and I pray for you! However, I disagree because death is often compared to sleep in the bible and the reason is that, the same way you (usually) don't remember what you dreamed about and don't know how much time has passed, when you die, you wake up in the presence of Jesus our God and savior for the judgement, where everyone get his reward and those he never knew are condemned.
@@iThinkBiblically Daniel 12.1-2 shows, Christ is yet to send people to either Heaven or hell….don’t you notice that in the verse? It will happen when he’s coming the second time
The dead are currently either in Paradise above or in Hell below. The Holy Bible says they know nothing because they do not know what's going on on Earth from the time they depart. And, guaranteed, those who've gone to Hell are being so tormented that whatever they do know is doing them no good. All they know besides the constant fear, horror, and pain is that THEY WANT OUT.

God warns us to stay away from familiar spirits (See DEUTERONOMY 18:10-12.) In verse 10, witches are forbidden as well. King Saul was rejected by God and that’s why he needed answers from another source. Familiar spirits are fallen angels that are good in pretending to be our loved ones. John 11:11-14 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep , he shall do well. Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. Satan has been using this scheme from the very beginning, when he told Eve, “Ye shall not surely die.” Our souls are not immortal. When we die, there is no conscience of thought. Jesus even calls it sleep. There are only a few people that made it to heaven. Enoch, Moses, Elijah and the 24 elders. These men are our examples to prove that if we obey God, we can make it as well. 1st Thessalonians 4:15-17 mentions two groups of God’s people. Those that are asleep in Jesus (the righteous dead,) and the last generation of faithful living Christians will be gathered by his angels to meet him in the air.
It was a demon masquerading as Samuel. The witch mentions that the spirit came from the earth, the same place Jude 1:6 mentions as being used as a prison for demonic spirits. The spirit of the real Samuel returned to God when he died. The last recorded conversation that the real Samuel ever had with Saul was back in 1 Sam. 15 where he tells Saul that God was going to stripthe kingdom from him and replace him with an obedient ruler.
From the beginning we are told what exactly happens to men when they die, no need to speculate God told Adam that when he died he would "return to dust". God did not give us a philosophical treatise about death. No "soul this", no "soul that", simply put, we (all men) die and we "go to the grave". Jesus tells us that he overcame the grave via his Resurrection. Therefore, he now has the power to Resurrect believers in him unto Immortality, which is the ONLY WAY to be alive after having died. People are in the Grave after they die. They don't "go" anywhere, they "return" to dust, ashes, and corruption. Paul tells us that we, believers who have died, will be raised INCORRUPTIBLE when Jesus returns to Terra Firma. He is the HOPE of both the "living and the dead". Souls, i.e., people, individuals, persons, speaking FIGURATIVELY, even as Jesus said of Lazarus, "sleep in the grave", a EUPHEMISM for being dead as a door nail in the Grave.
People say Jesus went to hell when He died . To the robber He said today you will be with me in paradise . So is paradise hell ? No one ascended to heaven except Jesus Joh 3 13 Dead in Christ resurrected at last trump when Jesus rreturn
Psalms 115:17-18 [17]The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence. [18]But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD. Silence is figurative for death. Sounds like he's making the comparison between the wicked in verse 17 and the righteous in verse 18. The righteous will never cease to praise God but will do it forever.
i do not comment on soul sleep because i am not dead and i don't know what goes on in the spirit world ... death is the separation of the spirit from the body ... so if we sleep or are some where else i do not know so why would i speak about something we do not know ... we will find out when we die ... it is safer that way
This guy is using terrible and pathetic apologetics. The Bible calls death sleep 54 times. Even Jesus used it to explain that Lazarus had died, and he was going to “wake him up”. The Bible makes it very clear that the dead are awaiting the second coming of Christ and the resurrection “Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.” 1 Corinthians 15:51,52 He’s also using a guilt by association fallacy. There are many things that Jehovah’s Witness teach that are wrong. I’m protestant myself and I think there are many corrupt doctrines within the Catholic Church, but that doesn’t mean that every single thing they teach is unbiblical. I believe that the trinity is a biblical teaching. I don’t irrationally disbelieve in something just because a denomination approves or denounces it. We come to the conclusion that death is like an unconscious sleep by using the entire Bible in context and proper exegesis not just Ecclesiastes 9.
The word in the Hebrew is thoughts. H 6250. Dr James Strong defines this word as "THOUGHT." Stop twisting scripture to say what you want it to say. God said "The dead know not anything. " Don't call God a liar. All scripture is God breathed. Jesus said "those in the graves will hear His voice. He didn't say "the bodies" in the grave will hear His voice but "THEY" BTW how can God bring back Sodom to their former estate Ezekiel 16:55 if they are in hell? Surely they would need to be resurrected from the dead? Well, if they are in hell, at least they'll get some respite when they're pulled out of the flames so that they can return to their "former estate." 😆
Those were all excellent examples in the video supporting that the soul continues to exist in a conscious state after physical death. Another is also evident in Luke 23:43 This is where Jesus tells the repentant thief on the cross, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." This suggests immediate conscious existence after death.
Or "verily, I say to you today, you will be with me in Paradise." But even, if he said, "today you will be with me in paradise", that's a pretty weak proof text. He also said, "the dayy that you shall eat from the tree, you will surely die." The Bible gives us many clear proof texts for the resurrection, but no clear proof texts for consciousness in death. There are a few unclear verses like Luke 23:43, that could be interpreted that way. But in fact, this doctrine destroys some of Jesus' and Paul's arguments for the resurrection. Paul argued, that getting yourself im danger for the Gospel would be meaningless, if there was no resurrection? Why? Isn't going to heaven after death good enough, even without a physical resurrection on the last day? (1. Corinthians 30-32) Also, in 1. Thessalonians 4:13-18, he tells them to comfort each other with the resurrection. Why didn't he tell them to comfort each other with the thought, that they are in heaven? Jesus also said, that God is a god of the loving, not of the dead, because of the resurrection. But if we claim, that they are in heaven, we have either removed the need for the resurrection, or we turn God into a god of the dead. Either way, we destroy Jesus' argument. Why is this topic so important? Because it either opens or closes the door to spiritism. If a dead person appears to us and we know the Biblical teaching, then we know, that we are looking at a demon, who is trying to deceive us. But if we believe, that the dead are conscious, we might talk to "them". The Bible calls this necromancy, a great sin and abomination. And Satan, who plays with our emotions, will take full advantage of it. And there are Christians, who practice necromancy.

Sounds like Ecclesiastes is talking about the unrighteous dead. Jesus clearly says Abraham Isaac and Jacob are not dead and God is a God of the living.
Matthew 22:31-32 NKJV [31] *But concerning the resurrection of the dead* , have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying, [32] ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” That Jesus said that God is a God of the living is concering to the ressurection.
@@RuggedCross1 that is your interpretation. In these two verses Jesus makes it clear that it is about the resurrection. Jesus was here in conversation with the Sadducees who argue that there is no resurrection of the dead. See from verse 23. And Jesus proved them wrong.

Ecclesiastes is a lot like the book of Job. We must be very careful taking doctrine from those books. The books in the Bible are inspired by God, and true. It is true Bildad the Shuhite said those things, but the things Bildad said weren't true. They were recorded accurately. Ecclesiastes is Solomons view of life "under the sun". That is how we see life as men, under the sun. But even heathens know there is more to life than just what we see.
2 Tim. 3 shows Paul saying ALL of scripture is profitable for doctrine. That includes Ecclesiastes and Job. The same God that inspired the Gospel accounts and the epistles for doctrine also inspired Ecclesiastes and Job to be treated as authoritative.

How interesting. You know, I've always been of the *"soul sleep"* position, and presumably was taught it as a child by my SDA grandmother. It was never a topic I had really attempted to critically analyze, and had ever even really thought about. Well, I guess I was wrong.
No, you weren't wrong. You will find clear passages about the resurrection, but you won't find a single clear passage about going right to heaven or hell. What would even be the point of the resurrection, if the dead are in heaven or hell already? This doctrine also destroys Jesus' and Paul's arguments for the resurrection, because their arguments no longer work, if the dead go right to heaven.
@@kellyanne7225 There is soul sleep. "Those, who are asleep in the dust of the earth, shall awaken", "she is not dead, she is asleep", "Lazarus has fallen asleep", "I do not want you to be ignorant concerning those, who are sleeping." (Daniel 12:1-3, Mark 5:39, John 11:11, 1.Thessalonians 4:13) The Bible also puts a great focus on the resurrection, but the doctrine of going right to heaven or hell is based upon a few unclear verses. It also destroys some of the arguments, that Jesus and Paul used for the resurrection. Jesus argues, that without the resurrection, God would be a god of the dead. So if we claim, that the dead are in heaven, we either destroy his argument by removing the need for the resurrection, or we destroy it by affirming the need of the ressurection, but turning God into a temporal god of the dead. Paul wrote, that without the resurrection, there would be no point in getting yourself in danger for the sake of the Gospel. How could he say that, if the dead went straight to heaven? Being heaven is good enough, even if there were no resurrection. Also, if Paul really meant "to be dead is to be with God", he would contradict his own argument, that without the resurrection, it is pointless to die. Also, our souls don't go anywhere, when we die. We do not _have_ a soul, we _are_ a soul. (See Genesis 2:7) So because we are dead, our soul is dead, which the Bible compares to sleep.
You were not wrong, he is misinterpreting those verses, picking and choosing that which is inspired by God and that which supposedly isn't and is just "the opinion of Solomon or Job" that is wrong. God says "all scripture is given by inspiration of God" 2 Timothy 3 vs 16.. Acts 2 vs 29, 34 also speaks of the dead being in the grave right now using David as an example.
"She saw a demonic entity pretending to be Samuel" But the Bible doesn't say that.
Exactly!

May the good Lord bless you for the work he is helping you to do for his glory. Thank you
I don't feel that any of those versus fully justify the topic that you are sharing.

I am.
Satan's first two lies have echoed and re echoed down through history and most of humanity still believes them both...
Stop listening to Satan. Read scripture --Matthew 10:28 directly states, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.
Glory to GOD! This is a fascinating topic.
The Bible makes perfect sense when it talks about those that “sleep in the dust of the earth.”
No one is in hell because no one has been judged. Even King David has not yet ascended into heaven! (Acts 2:34)
The Scriptures are so beautiful and clear yet others make them so complicated to the point that I don’t know who’s interpretation or comment to trust, yet I’ve learnt that the Bible itself can interpret itself beautifully and clearly, we on the other hand take it to another direction.
In this verse, Peter is quoting from Psalm 110:1, which says: "The Lord said to my Lord, 'Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.'"
Peter's argument is that David wrote this psalm, but he was not speaking about himself.

It's a good thing, that you're studying this topic. Please take your time to read this comment:
We have many clear witnesses for the resurrection of the dead on the last day.
(1.Corinthians 30-31)
He also told the Thessalonians, that they should comfort each other with the resurrection of the dead. Why didn't he tell them to comfort each other by saying, that they are already in heaven? (1.Thessalonians 4:13-18)
Some argue, that the dead are in heaven, because Jesus said "God is the god of the living, not the god of the dead." But this does violence to the context. (Matthew 22:23-33)
Another verse, that is often taken out of context, is Ecclesiastes 12:7.
Pure presumption. If you agree with this false presentation, SATAN answered. Sorry. He ignored the Scriptures that disagree with him.

As many people have already commented on other platforms,
the debate between different denominations of Christianity regarding hell and soul sleep revolves around four key words.
So perfectly & eloquently put🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌!!!!

Because they know nothing. They are dead.
Maybe i should do a 5 second video.
Because saints, dead people do not spectate the living. It’s not like spirits look at the living like watching TV. And thus, praying to one is like praying to the dark deep void of nothing 😂
That includes prayer to Mary, as the Antichrist church teaches.
Brother, I'm sorry but that is some serious mental gymnastics in just the first 5 minutes with Ecclesiastes 9:5 . How do you manage to allegorize a LITERAL verse? There's nothing to "interpret" he's speaking in LITERAL terms. I'll break it down line by line
For the living know that they will die (Yes we are all aware that we will die someday
But the dead know nothing (It's making a contrast between the living and the dead. The living has knowledge and the dead doesn't)
And they have no more reward (This is referring to Earthly rewards, as you mentioned SDA believe in the resurrection, when you're RESURRECTED you're NOT DEAD you're ALIVE. It says the DEAD as no more reward. @3:04 You literally made up a contradiction out of nowhere. This line is also saying whatever state you die in, if you are out of favor with God there's nothing more to gain. For example Catholics pray FOR their dead relatives. If they believe there's a relative in purgatory they'll pray for them to get into heaven.)
And I noticed you skipped verse 6
"Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished;" (why would your emotions perish if your soul has just simply left your shell body?)
Nevermore will they have a share in anything done under the sun. (@4:10 For this part you literally made up your own THEORY, and then said Solomon contradicted scripture BASED ON YOUR THEORY)... I'm typing in caps because I am astounded. If you read that line plainly it's clear. How did you get into the new heavens and the new earth and a new sun???
10 'Whatever your hands find to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or KNOWLEDGE or wisdom in the grave where you are going" (It's reiterating the dead knows nothing, have no reward)
For anyone watching this video, I IMPLORE you just go back to the first 5 minutes, LISTEN to what he said, read Ecc 9:5-10 and tell me if what he's saying sounds accurate in regards to the Ecclesiastes.
Actually the rewards are given in this life received in the next. So it is literal but not what you are talking about.

God never lies nor is He deceptive but people twist His words to their own harm. the book of Eccliastes is full of wisdom and truth when taken as you have said it
All scripture is inspired, including Ecclesiastes . Any teaching to the contrary is false .
So basically you're saying the dead know what is going on with the living and the living can talk to dead, which is spiritualism, which is of the devil😂 My brother you need the Holy Spirit guidance💯

@medusa. I reject soul-sleep and believe our soul goes to be in the presence of the Lord when a christian dies. I have never prayed to the dead, nor am I a spiritualist.
There is ample evidence of immediate life after immediate death in scripture or teachings that support it.
Thank you brother, you are a blessing
It’s not just in ecclastasis , there are other scriptures that say when you die it’s as a sleep. Many verses in the scriptures.
You can't contradict any scripture. Our soul goes to God. Body returns to dust. No where in the Bible says we will be chilling in heaven. Scripture does say believers are kept under an altar.
Bro you completely misunderstood solomon in Ecc 9:5
Solomon is basically expressing the state of a dead person.
Jesus says, "God is a god of the living because of the resurrection", you say, "God is a god of the dead until the resurrection."
Paul says, "Why do we get ourselves in danger, if the dead are not resurrected?", but you say, "you can get yourself in danger, because you will go right to heaven, you don't really need the resurrection".

And God has given us His Word to reveal His Will for us.
as the conclusion of Solomon after all his observation of the things of this world is:
Ecclesiastes 12:13 ¶ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
(Job 7:9-10 NIV)

@@RuggedCross1
It can actually mean that the next state in a person's consciousness is at the ressurrection day.
What when we interpret Jesus statement according to Eccl 9:5: "Behold, I say to you today, you will be with me in paradise."
This is truly a more dramatic promise, since Martha also confessed the general Jewish, Biblical belief to Jesus, that her brother would be raised by God on the last day.
So when Lazarus died, where do you think he was before Christ resurrected him? In Heaven, hell or hades or where?
The bible doesn't tell us but the soul must have left the body according to other scriptures. 1 Kings 17:20-22 Then he cried out to the LORD and said, "O LORD my God, have You also brought tragedy on the widow with whom I lodge, by killing her son?" And he stretched himself out on the child three times, and cried out to the LORD and said, "O LORD my God, I pray, let this child's soul come back to him." Then the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived.

Curious on the position you take regarding Adam's ontology. Correct me if I'm wrong 😊
I assume you believe that Adam's soul or spirit, an immaterial part, possesses immortality and this is inherent to the human nature.
@iThinkBiblically
I think we can deduce from other aspects of the Bible if Adam could die before sinning.
@@coreyevans9543
To believe that Adam could die before sinning is a dangerous thought.
Oscar Cullmann? Seriously? Have you ever looked into that guy?
The ABC’s of the Bible is easy to understand Jesus said: “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”
John 5:28-29 KJV
Very well done!

Kindly explain Daniel 12:1-2 to me if the dead is conscious.

@@gdg1963 than who will God resurrect because you can only resurrect the dead to believe in an immortal, so you simply have to ignore the resurrection of the dead, it is a hard pill to swallow to think that our loved ones are simply just rotting in the grave. It is easy to believe that they really just go on, but the Bible just does not teach an immortal so in fact, most scriptures like an ecclesiastic state that even the soul that sins dies. There are many other scriptures indicating the same thing and you have to go through scripture by scripture and state that isn’t really what they meant but Solomon was a man and his day men said what they meant and why so many indicate nothing at all and many other scriptures if it weren’t true to believe in an immortal soul is to believe in the teachings of the demons, this is a lie something, the Bible simply doesn’t teach in order to believe it. We have to ignore the resurrection of the dead on the last day and we have to change the meaning of the scriptures throughout the Bible.
Its very difficult to discuss the immortal soul theory that people are taught in modern christianity. So hard to unlearn the lie they have believed all their lives.

Is it really Samuel who comes to Saul? Or a demon playing Samuel?
So is paradise hell ?

i do not comment on soul sleep because i am not dead and i don't know what goes on in the spirit world ... death is the separation of the spirit from the body ... so if we sleep or are some where else i do not know so why would i speak about something we do not know ... we will find out when we die ... it is safer that way
Luke 16: 19-31
Lazarus and the rich man
Well that explains Schutz:” I know nothing”
This guy is using terrible and pathetic apologetics. The Bible calls death sleep 54 times. Even Jesus used it to explain that Lazarus had died, and he was going to “wake him up”.
The Bible makes it very clear that the dead are awaiting the second coming of Christ and the resurrection “Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.” 1 Corinthians 15:51,52
He’s also using a guilt by association fallacy.

What about the Christadelphians?
Those were all excellent examples in the video supporting that the soul continues to exist in a conscious state after physical death. Another is also evident in Luke 23:43 This is where Jesus tells the repentant thief on the cross, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." This suggests immediate conscious existence after death.
Or "verily, I say to you today, you will be with me in Paradise." But even, if he said, "today you will be with me in paradise", that's a pretty weak proof text. He also said, "the dayy that you shall eat from the tree, you will surely die."
The Bible gives us many clear proof texts for the resurrection, but no clear proof texts for consciousness in death.
(1. Corinthians 30-32)
Also, in 1.

@@RuggedCross1 It is clearly not God's interpretation. If you read from verse 23 you will notice that the topic of conversation was "whether or not there is a resurrection of the dead". Jesus was talking to the Sadducees who claim that there is no resurrection of the dead.

It's always wise to reconsider things :) I do it all the time
No, you weren't wrong.
@@DominikKoppensteinerThen where are we? There is no soul sleep, no purgatory. Our souls are someplace after we die, they’re not in limbo.
@@kellyanne7225 There is soul sleep. "Those, who are asleep in the dust of the earth, shall awaken", "she is not dead, she is asleep", "Lazarus has fallen asleep", "I do not want you to be ignorant concerning those, who are sleeping." (Daniel 12:1-3, Mark 5:39, John 11:11, 1.Thessalonians 4:13)
The Bible also puts a great focus on the resurrection, but the doctrine of going right to heaven or hell is based upon a few unclear verses.
Thanks for exposing the false teaching of these two cults.
