SERGIO ACEVEDO steering wheel controls are maintained. As for comparison we just need to find someone willing. As for remote access with the app, that’s built into the old sync3 head unit. Once it’s out of the truck all the app access is lost and Ford will not accept a 3rd replacement. Would be nice, but I don’t think it will be possible.

There are profiles built in that will match what options your truck has for climate and seat controls. The only item you loose is the cabin light colors. It can’t control those.
We didn't check the profile, but it's suppose to replicate all the sync controls for the seats. Mine had heated and cooled. As for the sound, it's comparable to the stock Sync system.
Dewayne Font yes it does. When you setup the system, you pick the profile and options package that matches your truck and from there the climate and seat controls get added. There are a ton of profiles on this that cover the majority of the Ford Models.

Thank you for the video. One question; would the climate control work if this is installed on the F-150 XLT 2017 (manual control), retaining everything else (heated seats)?

I don't understand the fascination with these screens. What is the benefit besides being larger and just a different screen to be different? Seems to be more fiddling with many screens to make the same things happen.
FireTrail741 to me it cleans up the center console. I prefer clean and simple and the stock setup is busy. I’ve owned 2 Tesla’s now and love that clean interface and wish other manufacturer would adopt it, quicker. The only complaint I’ve heard about touch screen is those that live in cold weather. They have to take if their gloves to use them and that’s why manufacturers have not widely adopt them yet.
But isn’t there a lot of back and forth between screens? I guess I just like direct interface buttons for common use controls. Efficient. Thanks for the reply!
FireTrail741 there is some but commonly used control like climate are always on the screen and have shortcuts. On the music side yeah, there is some back and forth, but the sync3 is not any better. Such a pain to get it to Bluetooth audio. At least 3-4 clicks and it’s so buggy. We got much better results with the GU Auto Tech screen. Keep It Dirty Off-Road I got the Alpharex Nova because of your video, this I want but... let’s see cause I want so many things for the truck that if I got them all I’ll have to get a home equity line just for the truck lol
You should compare their dash unit to the guys from Phoenix automotive same exact screen and they already have car play and android auto but about half the price
Daily Driver we are trying to find someone to do a comparison. But these are completely different screen with completely different hardware. Phoenix auto systems are tablet based. GU displays are automotive based, built in the same factory that does Pioneer decks with the same quality components. I had a tablet based system in my e39 M5 and it sounded like crap and eventually fried the amp in the car.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad if you go into the settings it clearly says this is running Android 6 .. not sure why they are saying its not but it is tablet based.
Eville Truck there is an Android OS down there but the difference is hardware. The Phoenix system are tablet hardware based, even google classifies them as tablets. The GU unit uses automotive electronics. Very different vibration and impact standards. Also makes a huge difference with Amps and audio quality.
It’s available now man. SDI has Gen1 kits. But you need Gen2 live valve shocks and you have to replace the front shock bucket with either the KHC or Camburgs buckets to support the shocks. Few guys already running them and soon we hope to get one of them on the trails to see how the trucks perform
Ramon Pasion yes, the truck microphone is used for phone calls and it also has a mic right next to the screen as a backup I think. I use it with an IPhone and tested the audio and it came it good and clear
Yeah I know. we said the same later when we reviewed the footage. So we asked. They are running their own custom OS application on top of the Android OS. They don't call it Android OS based because they are not using the tabled or phone version of Android. Not sure what that means, but they do have a custom OS on top of it running everything with automative grade electronics you would normally see in Pioneer decks instead of tablet based hardware like their competitors.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad they've just taken Android source and customized it. I understand it's not phone or tablet Android, but he can't say it's not Android is all. Marketing though 😜
William Hall I can ask, but honestly with so many options out there with free streaming services that sounds so much better I doubt it’s a priority for them.
@@williamhall426 I liked Satellite radio back when XM ran things. they had good audio quality and less issues with signal cutting out. Today, the sound quality has really dropped with Sirus XM. I have the free trial right now on my truck and even with the B&O radio it sounds like crap. You can hear the compression, they added bass to try and compensate and it just does not sound good to me. So I won't be keeping it once the trial is done. I get much better sound quality from Apple Music, Pandora, and amazon music and I can fast forward songs I don't like on all of them. And Pandora and Amazon are basically free services.
SYNC is just worthless, I do not know if I have a defective unit or not on my 2018 5.0 Ford XLT. The whole SYNC system gets disconnected all the time using the bluetooth or reception would start breaking up. I does not matter if I use my IPad tablet, my Pixel phone or my OnePlus 6 phone I tried the master reset button and still the same. Now I like the big screen on your unit but I also like the CD player on my unit. This system does not appear to have a CD player and that is a big thumps down for me.
CD players have been dying for years now. Ford has not offered a CD played in their truck since late 2018. No new truck has one anymore. It’s a dead media and MP3s and Bluetooth have taken over. I’ve never used the CD player on mine. As for sync, yeah man. You should get it checked out. My sync 3 has worked great for Bluetooth and all that stuff

yep it's just a Chinese radio. and they made some changes on it and they paid him more per unit to change their logo on the boot up screen you can easily do that. I think it's like $10 per unit
Would not doubt it. Sound quality and reliability seems better than others, but it’s also very limited in what it can do compared to other android based systems
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad hell yes . online that you're admitting that it's probably a Chinese radio most people would not admit that I like that keeps a good job up
It doesn’t sound like an upgrade if your truck came a 8” screen. You lose a lot of features with this unit (XM, HD Radio, Ford Pass remote start, Voice Control, etc.) but you gain a bigger screen for nearly $2,000?! Garbage!
Minh Tran I personals don’t use any of them except the Ford Pass remote start and I found out later when I put this system on my 2017 truck that the Ford App remote access still worked. The system is not for everyone. It’s great for those with base model trucks without Sync. Or those that want a Tesla like display.
Keep It Dirty Off-Road Yes, it would be an upgrade for those without Sync. Value-wise just depends on user perception. If you have Sync, it seems like all you get is a bigger screen with reduced functionality for a lot of money.
At least you tried it for free lol I have a $2,000 12 inch screen that will barely play fm radio. I've contacted support and get no response, the only time they respond to me is if I pretend to be a customer looking to buy one of these bricks!!!
Just wanted to say for $1,800 this is a joke. Oh and obviously the display isn’t smooth as you had to edit the video very noticeably. Linkswell Gen 4 will be $7-800 less. And the Phoenix is $1,100 cheaper! Pass.
Stephen J it’s not for everyone man. Phoenix or linkswell systems are tablet based. Meaning it’s the same as installing an android tabled on your dash. The GU display has automotive grade electronics. Pioneer electronics to be exact. That results in a huge difference in reliability, quality, and better sound quality. Hope to do a comparison soon to show the benefits and drawbacks of this display compared to the other systems. They do have some advantages over the GU display and hope to highlight them as well as the drawbacks.
Keep It Dirty Off-Road Says who? What is the hardware specs? How much RAM, CPU, GPU? I would be surprised you sell any at that price point. Just being honest no one is paying $800 over the linkswell for this. By your own admission it’s not even Android. So, it’s a locked down proprietary OS.
Stephen J I’m not selling them man. We just did a feature of them on the channel. We found out since making this video, that the core of the OS is android with their custom interface on top. As for specs I’ll see if I can get those here in a follow up video. But honestly man, Android OS is not a plus in my opinion. I have an old 2003 BMW e39 M5. Lots of android based head unit replacements for that car. I tried one and the audio quality was just bad and the bugs were even worse. Only used that system for a few weeks before I got fed up.
Android 6.0.... in 2020, what a joke. 5 years old. Bet the processor and such are from about the same timeframe. Yeah definitely not worth the price they are charging for it.
Napsterbater I asked about too because it stood out. They do it for reliability. The less bugs an OS has the better. They are in the process of updating the system so hopefully we see some changes in the OS soon
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Yeah, no.. 1 version older ok, maybe even 2, but 4 versions old that is 5 years old. Yeah not for $1800 And even with that old of an OS there was still some lag and jerky ness to the OS which is likely because they are using hardware such as processor and such from that time, which is conveniently not listed anywhere..
Minh Tran actually, Ford Pass features are maintained but yes HD and XM radio is lost. I personally don’t use either or the hotspot since my phone has all that so it did not matter.
Keep It Dirty Off-Road That’s good for FordPass. But I still feel that they removed features for the sake of cosmetic. Well-known aftermarket manufacturers like Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood/Jenson, and Sony don’t sacrifice any of those features, including FordPass now, but provide better sound. This and the Chinese-made ones are for people who just want a big screen with less features.
Minh Tran I would agree with you on the cheaper models. This one maintains the APIM module (I think that’s what’s it’s called) so all the remote features work. Some cheaper manufacturers don’t and those have limited functionality. Now this system does offer better audio. It’s got high quality audio internals and after a recent update it was a full EQ to allow for much better audio control. The system is not for everyone. I would say the stock system will work best.
We found out later that most of the Ford Pass features still work. I was able to remote start and lock the truck with the app. So there must be a separate module handling all that. But the price is steep for most.

🤣🤣 yeah, he did not know and we later found out it does not have XM radio capability.
Very cool.👍
Well done
Dont ask thanks 🙏
This is amazing. Can this fit on a GEN 1 Raptor
No I don’t think so, it has year specific bezel and harness. know GU does not have a Gen1 version yet, not sure about the other companies.
We got our hands on one of these systems and wi be doing a full comparison
My 18 does have a cd player
looks great, but that 12-20 second startup time seems like it need to be improved
The Forerunner agreed. They are continuously improving the display and we hope that improves
I have a 2018 F-150 Lariat with the 502A package and the B&O system. It DOES have a CD player
Zigman my channel mainly focuses on Raptors. Mid way thru 2018, Raptors started to loose the CD player
Like it, looks like it’s the best aftermarket unit for F150s ... but at $2k... I’ll keep it in my “wish list” 😬
Agreed. The price is a little steep. We are doing testing for them right now and hope to have an install video up soon
Keep It Dirty Off-Road I got the Alpharex Nova because of your video, this I want but... let’s see cause I want so many things for the truck that if I got them all I’ll have to get a home equity line just for the truck lol
EmilFerr77 wait on this display for sure till you see the install video. We are doing some testing for them too and hope to do a video on that soon
No way to play video while moving?
We were able to with them browser. But it wasn’t worth it. Since it does not have it’s own cell connection, it constantly drops
THE REAL QUESTION .... what if you have subs , like I have 2 10s under my seat , how would you hook it up w this , with a stepdown
My ‘18 Raptor with 802A and B&O came with a factory CD player.
So android auto does not work on this?
Nope. Makes no sense considering it’s android based.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Looking forward to seeing the comparison video when you do one.
Great !! How much it ???
Check the links in the description
2018 Lariat does come with a CD player.
Depends on the build date. Some later 2018s did not
Where can I buy it ?
Darwin Navas check the description, we provided links to 2 places where you can buy
I have a Ford F-150 2018 xlt can installed?
Darwin Navas YES, as long as you don’t have the B&O speakers
I just have the original speaker normal
Darwin Navas then your good, and install should be the same as the Raptor. We have an install video up on this channel too
We need this for GEN 1 RAPTORS 2010 and up💔😭
It’s available now man. SDI has Gen1 kits. But you need Gen2 live valve shocks and you have to replace the front shock bucket with either the KHC or Camburgs buckets to support the shocks.
Few guys already running them and soon we hope to get one of them on the trails to see how the trucks perform
then in platinum is not available
The system is designed to work with all trim levels that currently have sync3.
It is compatible with the truck microphone
Ramon Pasion yes, the truck microphone is used for phone calls and it also has a mic right next to the screen as a backup I think.
I use it with an IPhone and tested the audio and it came it good and clear
Keep It Dirty Off-Road where can I buy a screen like the one you have in the video
@@ramonpasion9835 Check the video description man. there are 2 links there. One fr the screen at Stage3 and the other from Shelby parts.
Where can I buy one for my raptor 2019 send the information please
It’s in the video description man. To links to give you options
Why u are cutting out the fact that’s xm doesn’t work?????
Andriy Moskalyk not cut out man. This unit has no XM support.
When I can pull up LeadNav or Gia GPS from my phone or tablet then it's worth buying but to just have a larger screen. No Thanks.
Maybe one of the video inputs can be used somehow.
I was thinking the same thing. Would love to see LeadNav pushed to the big screen.
'This doesn't run android'
"Android Version 6.0" in the config screen. lol
Kevin Smith yeah very true
Is there any like this for my 2012 platinum?
Get this to support Sirius I'd buy this asap
William Hall I can ask, but honestly with so many options out there with free streaming services that sounds so much better I doubt it’s a priority for them.
Ya forsure I really dig this setup tho I paid too much for my Sirius xm tho but I'm guessing they working on new products
I'll keep my stock system lose to much. Wait 2020 for later updates for B&O radio.
Pat Mason Mason I have a 2020 now and not many updates in the new version. Just minor software changes and same B&O system.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad I guess the sync won't work with that unit.
@@patmason7276 This unit replaces the Sync system.
Too bad I cant upgrade... I have B&O system in my 18 Platinum. Otherwise... this bad ass would be in my truck!
Zac Jackson they have a new system coming out soon that will support the B&O radio. Hope to get a chance to test it out soon.
Why is it so damn laggy?????
Pure Luck the lag is improved with the latest software updates. But even the sync3 has lag.
yeah it felt slow - and resolutoin looks low as well.
@@CorrupteddSanity resolutions is not so bad. We played a RUclips video and got some good video.
$1799 I almost dropped my tablet. And you lose sync3 no thanks
Yeah it's not for everyone. But some have to have that large screen.
My sync 3 has worked great for Bluetooth and all that stuff
is it not made in China and it's just a clone of all the other ones that you put your name on it. am I going to find one that does the same thing from somebody else
yep it's just a Chinese radio. and they made some changes on it and they paid him more per unit to change their logo on the boot up screen you can easily do that. I think it's like $10 per unit
Would not doubt it. Sound quality and reliability seems better than others, but it’s also very limited in what it can do compared to other android based systems
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad hell yes . online that you're admitting that it's probably a Chinese radio most people would not admit that I like that keeps a good job up
Everything is made in Asia. If it’s eletronic, 99% chance it’s China or Taiwan.
Boy, what an edit when asked about XM radio. JUST SAY NO! This guy gets meek as a mouse when things don't work. HAHAHA.
Yeah, we found out later that no it’s not supported within the unit.
Doesn't support android auto but it's an android device running android 6.0 That's rediculous.
2000 bucks and it’s not Sirius compatible
Still no android auto after 3 years
Yeah. Makes no sense considering the OS is based on Android. We did an updated review recently on the channel if you want to check it out
At least you tried it for free lol I have a $2,000 12 inch screen that will barely play fm radio. I've contacted support and get no response, the only time they respond to me is if I pretend to be a customer looking to buy one of these bricks!!!
That’s not good man. Wish we knew about this stuff so we could include it in our review video.
Also missed he said the OS is "close to android" "but its not android"... it is Android. Yep, def a nope.
Bigger screen is all it has over Sync. It loses all FordPass remote features, HD radio, XM radio, and wi-fi hotspot. Gimmicky.
Not for $1999-$2499 and I lose my ford pass also running Android NOPE HARD PASS
We found out later that most of the Ford Pass features still work. I was able to remote start and lock the truck with the app. So there must be a separate module handling all that. But the price is steep for most.
