    I remember the feeling I would get the day of a Van Halen concert. All day I would be so excited that I was going to a VH concert that night. Then when I got to the venue that evening I would be so excited that Ed is somewhere in the building. And then when the band hit the stage and you got that first glimpse of Ed you knew it was game on. No other musician makes me feel the way Ed did when in his presence. I’ll never forget that.

The weird thing is I was listening to girls gone bad on my way home from work and got out of my car and got on Facebook and saw that he had died. And then Tony Rice died on Christmas Day. Ed was a fan. Ugh..2020 was shitty.

      @@biffleonetti5298 @UCu932X_-EcD40H9W7Zs9hqA I've always loved classic rock, but in December 2019 I broke the antenna off of my pickup somehow and instead of spending $20 on a new one I popped in VH1, Poison's greatest hits, CCR, and Kid Rock's Cocky CD. VH1 was in my dash for about 8 out of 12 months in 2020 and that is no exaggeration. It just never got old to me. That CD is the reason I bought a guitar and starting trying to mimic the wild things I heard on that album. Then he passed away that October. His death was the only famous death that actually had an impact on me. It felt like I had lost someone I had known for a long time. It is simply incredible how his music touched so many people the same as it did me. RIP to the greatest to ever do it.

    The essential quality with Eddie is realness. Because it is real. It's all his deal, he's the source. It's like Robert Johnson (or Charley Patton, Son House, Skip James, etc) and the natural blues. We can practice till we're blue in the face, but compared to them we're just typing. It's a similar thing with Eddie, as compared to everything else downstream from him. And there's a whole hell of a lot downstream from him. Respect.

    A few times I've seen Alex say that ginger baker was one of his heroes. Alex actually smokes ginger baker to oblivion on a bad day. He's like Bonham and Peart rolled into one..As for his brother Ed, he was and still is the pioneer of modern rock guitar..

    • @andrewgarcia3136
      @andrewgarcia3136 2 года назад

      Nah Ginger Baker was a monster. The problem with comparing ginger to other rock drummers is that he really came from the jazz world and he's a jazz drummer at heart. The guy has a totally different sense of when and how to let loose than the people who've followed him in the rock world. When ginger goes to take a solo or fill he's not trying to cram in as many hits as he can get into measure or sound like a v-twin motorcycle

    • @Roger8176
      @Roger8176 2 года назад +1

      I've always felt that Alex didn't ever get the appreciation that he deserved. He was a very musical drummer and definitely had his own thing going on. Van Halen would've been very, very different without him.
      Also, as hard to believe as it is, even in a band with David Lee Roth, Alex was always kind of the life of the party in the old days. He was a crazy S.o.B! His interviews were always my favorite to watch. This is just a guess, but my opinion is that his wife drained a lot of the life out of him. She always looked angry and bitter in photos. I believe she took Al for a lot of money as well. Plus isn't her brother that sumbitch Ray Daniels?

    • @Starburst514
      @Starburst514 Год назад

      @@Roger8176 That's what I've always thought too, even Eddie himself would talk about how Alex is also very gifted musically, even as kids how Al would win all these awards for violin playing, and said that unlike himself Alex could read music quickly and play accordingly super fast.
      As for his wife, yeah Ray Daniels was her brother. And idk about her draining the life from him necessarily, I think his first marriage (the one that lasted only four months, a lot of people forget about that one, Al's actually been married three times) hurt him a lot more, but he also got sober with his second wife but that was around the time thier Dad died and it seemed Eddie went the other direction cause his addiction began to get even worse. I think all the stress from that and going on the journey to sobriety did make Al become more calm and collected, but yeah he seems a ton more happier with his current wife (who he's also been married to the longest I think🤔)
