TY for this video! Our cat just got diagnosed last night…with diabetes…gave him antibiotics and we have to take him back on Sun to decide oral or insulin shots…
I’ve been learning meds are what they should be now a days and also learning natural ingredients are far better for humans! 😊❤
This video is a God sent. My cat had kidney disease stage 2. She is on hydracare from Purina to keep her from losing fluids and a renal prescription diet and a potassium powder. I added this twice a day in her wet food. I left on vaca for a month . My friend watched over her. I came back and she was playful. It is been 2 months now. She sleeps peacefully, doesn t wake up every 5 min like something is nagging her. She Peess less and drink less. Started Playing again which she stopped doing for more than a year now. Almost 20 years old and a second chance to live. Standard procedd makes this supplement for cat which is this supplement with a few extra stuff. So I give her the cat version. Thank U from both of us!!
thats awesome. You gave your cat something in nature to her body heal itself.
@@HelpingHermit exactly! I use the enzyme digestive support for myself from Standard process. I am Definitely trusting them. God Bless U Hermit!

Thank you so much for making this video. I appreciate the time that was invested and the simplicity of your video is more grateful to a lot of us then having it be so scientific that we need an encyclopedia to figure out what you're talking about so thank you for making this easy for everybody to understand. This is my first day looking into this information to help my cat who is 17 his name is Kiki and he was a rescue 15 years ago and I am just so grateful that someone like you has taken the time to put all the information in this video I will look for that product that you were discussing thank you.

My cat is 15. Her bloodwork shows she's in renal failure but I've been giving her stuff from the vet, and special food and other supplements that appear to be working. I'll check out what's suggesting here too. She's my furry friend and I'll do all I can to keep her going.
How is she doing?
So far, she's doing great. I give her special food, and dust it with the vitamin restore powder and that's what she'll eat. I've put the rest on too but she just starves. If this helps her, then that's what I will do
Great idea to use filtered water!! Keeping inflammation low is important too so I am adding an aloe vera powder to my cat's food. A high quality probiotic can also help to "pre-filter" by breaking down food and improving the immune system.
I boil my cats water for 6 minutes then let it cool off before putting it out for him calcium products & magnesium produce nasty blocks that plug up the remaining 25% of your cats kidney functions.. The filler in dry food is the worst...baking soda raise the ph which helps.
@@highlightedcomment Boiling works for pathogens that can (uncommon) enter water sources. Unfortunately, boiling does not destroy minerals. You do need a mechanical filter for them. I've been using Zero Water with great success. I'm happy to report that my cat's kidney disease stage went from 3 to 1, the vets are shocked! Filtered water, TikiCat wet food (lower phosphorous ones), RenaFood, and pro-biotics have been the right formula for us.

Avoid giving your dying cats Hartz Delectables fish broth six packs tuna & salmon by the box of six even if it's all your cat can lick up including water. Harrz has no idea how much CALCIUM CARBONATE is in a six pack of above mentioned Hartz Delectables fish broth six packs which is disturbing for those who can't read or didn't read the box like me etc. ....For two extra days with kitty, why is 200mg in cats days(24hr) meals the universally excepted max amount of calcium carbonate in kitties food ? Thank you for sharing this, we had to put down one of our cats yesterday because she had kidney issues (both swollen to golfball size) which came up out of nowhere, we always visit the vet with them..., we have another one on medicine for a year, but with her, it came out of nowhere and it broke our heart to put her down but it's best to put her down before organ failure kicked in she was in the final stages it appeared... luckily our son is still to youn to understand as it was also his favourite kitty :( RIP Stella
Thank you thank you thank you! Been to the vet and sadly has kidney failure but wanted to see what I can add to his treatment
Thank you so much! I ordered it for my cat 🐈⬛ via your affiliate link🙏🏼
We already lost a cat a couple of years ago to this dreadful disease and the reason was because the covid crisis held up the appointments so badly that by the time we were able to get the cat in he was too ill to save. We also have another cat, which we found literally at the same time, as Oreo. +They were strays). So he is the same age as the cat that passed. He's having problems as well and he's been through these thing before, we're able to manage it at that time. But we're having a similar situation of trying to get him in to a very busy vet. They won't prescribe anything without seeing him, including the food that helped him before. So I just ordered that supplement you recommended and it's coming on Saturday. Will let you know how Kyle does.
thanks for letting me know. Yes its shocking how little vets there are in the US. There are only 38 vet schools in the entire country so no wonder its hard to find an appointment. Don't beat yourself up over the pandemic. You gave your cats a loving home and made it as comfortable as possible for their entire lives. That's more than 95 percent of all cats in the US. Most cats never find a home and are homeless and zero love
Thank you for posting this informative video. I actually have a full bottle of Renafood left over from my daughter who stopped taking it in 2018. I hope it's still potent enough to be of good use. I will order a fresh bottle soon.
This was so very helpful …thank you ✨💝✨
Thank you so much! I just ordered it for my 14 year old looking like she's nearing the end! And I'll begin immediately to start giving her distilled water again that i drink! Thank you so much@

Thank you so much for sharing! I'm going to give this a try.
Thank you so much for all the tips and your wonderful approach
Great video
Those faucet filters do not remove cllhlorine or floride. The bigger under the sink ones do. Thanks for all the helpful info!😊
Brita filters dont filter fluoride or chlorine. A test I use on bottled water is to sniff a drop or two of water. A light burn to the sinus will tell you how much chlorine is still in it.
Boiled water for 6 minutes is my 20 year old male cata drink
Thanks friend. I'll give that a go.
My senior cat will only eat dry.. i have bought very expensive wet food, stinky cheap food, I have bought fresh meat, tuna, fast food meat.. he won't eat ANYTHING like that. Only dry Iams, ugh. He does puke, back hunched at times. I'm wondering if I sprinkled this on dry food if he'd eat it. I'd hate to spend that kind of money on an "if".. but thank you for this video, I'm so glad it helps our furbabies!
Would they eat the dry if you added water and made it soft? They need moisture if they have kidney issues
They make RENAL dry food. Royal canin brand. And others. For kidneys. Low phosphorous.
The vet can also get you a phosphorous binder to sprinkle on if helpful.
These supplements get rid of heart murmurs too. Love that company.
Thank you for this video!!!❤❤❤
Hello, thanks for sharing 😊. I have a Yorkie and a Havanese. The vet said stop all protein. I'm going to find home made diets i can cook for them and I'm going to try the Renafood on them. Will keep you posted 👍 👍 👍

Thank you for sharing! I have been researching both Renafood and Renal Support by Standard Process. The renal support for cats seems to have phosphorus in it for some reason. Do you happen to know Renafood has any?
I'm not sure, but go on Amazon store were the Renafood is listed and ask that question. Other's may want to know.
@@HelpingHermit I actually ended up emailing them directly and I got an explanation very quickly! Here's what they had to say:
Hello,
Thank you for your question. As you likely know, Renafood is a product from the Standard Process line of products that is formulated to support kidney function. It is safe for cats and dogs to take and has been recommended for various reasons in place of the Feline Renal Support. Renafood has been available since 1975 so vets that have been recommending our supplements for many years have more experience using Renafood over the Feline Renal Support. Feline Renal Support was introduced in 2002. The big difference is that Renafood is targeted to kidneys whereas the Feline Renal Support has primary support for the kidneys but also provides ingredients that will support other areas of the body that work closely with the kidneys such as the liver, cardiovascular system and autonomic nervous system. It is considered a more broad spectrum support. Both products are in tablet form and the recommended dose for both is 1 tablet twice a day. Ultimately, both are great products and the one chosen just depends on what is best for that particular cat and which product the veterinarian has more experience with.
The phosphorous question is a very common question that we receive about the Feline Renal Support. Standard Process understands the need to be mindful of the amount of phosphorous that a kitty with kidney disease is taking in. This is why we list the amount of phosphorous that is in the product. The phosphorous is naturally occurring in the food ingredients in the formula since foods do naturally have small amounts of phosphorous in them. We DO NOT add any phosphorous to the formula. We don’t want to completely remove all phosphorous as their body does still need phosphorous for multiple metabolic processes. We just want to be mindful so they aren’t consuming excessive amounts. The 2.4 mg of phosphorous per tablet is actually a very small amount. If you would compare the amount of phosphorous in the product to the amount of phosphorous in recommended kidney prescription diets, you’d see that the amount in the supplement is quite tiny.
Your video was soo helpful, because I cannot afford the expensive Hills Science cat food right now. So I will be trying this, my question is...since most canned cat foods are high phosphorus...which cat food should I buy to mix the pill with 🤷🏾♀️? Any recommendations?
The Renal Support by Standard Process is the best. My holistic vet saved my cat by telling me to give her this.

Hello! Thank you for sharing this information. I had two brother cats and one of them had renal failure and the vet’s doings killed him in 3 days.

@@Samuelfish2k Hello again. My cat is doing pretty well. I’ve put together a program of homeopathics and additions to his raw food diet, along with massaging his kidneys every day. He’s a happy 19yr old kitty. Thanks for asking.
This is GREAT, my cats are not showing any symptoms, but I will add this to their food to prevent any problems. I also removed any food containing added synthetic phosphates which are a cause of kidney failure.
I did give them this for about 2 weeks, then they developed diarrhea and I was only giving them half a tablet. I stopped but I removed all forms of synthetic phosphates from their diet.
I'm going to try this and let you know how it goes!

How about giving raw (frozen) bovine kidneys? As I see kidneys are the main ingredient in this supplement. I can’t buy this supplement where I live, and my cat is just got a very bad diagnosis of kidney failure. She doesn’t eat anything but yogurt. I want to go buy raw kidneys at the pet shop and try it. What do you think?
So she doesn’t want raw kidneys. She just ate a tiny bit of her normal food yesterday and today only yogurt. I’m adding now baking soda and rosehip tea into her water. Anything that can help fast??

Great info thank you, our cat is in late stage renal failure, so I will try this asap. It's sold out on Amazon so will try to find it somewhere else. I felt like I was sliding off the deck of a ship watching the video haha.

Standard Process makes a Feline Renal Support. I wonder why people like this better than the pet version.
What are your thoughts on standard process’ renal support tablets? Thank you for the video.

Question. How many times a day should I feed a cat with CKD? This is important since I am out of the house for many hours of the day and I need to know how to do this correctly. Thank you in advance.
I'm not a vet, but I think you would feed them just like usual, but high quality food. I feed by adult elderly cat twice a day with a approximately one cup of food. Make sure to give them plenty of filtered or spring water.
@@HelpingHermit Thank you. I'm just trying to get an idea as to how much to feed my brother's Kitty since she is dealing with a kidney issue. And I'm here to help :)
My cat is a also suffering from ckd in other articles i read people said to keep their bowls of water separated from their food. This helps them drink more water since dehydration is bad for ckd cats.
Should there be any concern with excess vit A? My understanding is that vit A is not water soluble so it can build up in the system. My cats eat a mainly raw food diet that I use chicken liver in as their excreting organ that's needed. My 16 yo is doing pretty good with his food, filtered water and subQ fluids, but has nighttime caterwalling that is keeping us all up at night. He's obviously stressed. And he's still losing weight little by little. My vet prescribed Xanax for him but I'm holding off on using that because I hate prescription drugs, but I want him to be calm
I'm not a vet but the Renafood is 100 percent natural, meaning its not synthetic at all and it is how it is in nature which is from the cow. It would almost be like your cat eating cow kidney. I think it would be fine but you can show your vet.
This is in response to the post about your cat needing to be calmed down.
You can try an all natural calming pheromone spray called Feliway. Be sure to get the calming spray. I accidentally purchased the Feliway that was made to keep cats from scratching furniture. It works. I spray his cat carrier 15 minutes before the vet. Smooth trip! All the best to you!

My 18-year-old cat has been diagnosed with kidney failure. He has stopped eating, and his teeth are causing him a lot of pain as they are rotten. My about 7 months old kitten whom I rescued from a nearby railway station when she was almost 2 months old, got her 1st heat last month. After her heat passed, she who usually went to pee 3-4 times a day would pee only twice in a day. One day she showed signs of UTI and i took her to vet. The vet said she got it cause she didn't drink enough water. Her UTI symptoms got better with medications within a week and she was normally peeing since then. It's too hot here and my cat doesn't drink much water on her own so I sometimes gave her water by syringe. Yesterday after peeing 1st at 4pm she peed 2nd time at 5 pm. Then at 7. Then at 10. She drank plenty water from 5 to 10 pm. But still I'm really worried.

Isn’t vitamin C an issue for cats since they synthesize their own? Thanks.
I don't know but I don't think there is a lot of C in the supplement and C is found in beef liver and other things cats eat anyways. Can't imagine it would hurt.
@@HelpingHermit my guess is that the vitamin C they make is different from the synthetic one. Why things have to be so complicated with cats?
Once the cat is under stress they stop their own vitamin c. That's why they get seriously ill very quick.
I did an ultrasound for my cat and he has multiple small cysts in both of his kidneys and a big cyst on his liver... will this help? I honestly have nowhere else to turn to. His blood tests show no sign of kidney or liver disease and my vet pretty much told me I have to hope the medication works or else I have to see an emergency vet (which he says still may not help). My cat is peeing little sprays on my bed and has trouble stooling and urinating in his litterbox (he goes in and out the box multiple times a day with very little to nothing coming out)
the cysts might be benign which is good. Cysts are not a big deal but this is natural food so it couldn't hurt.
Seriously... any calcium additive or salt & gum are not a help...magnesium is a big no no too...
Low Ash low protein near liquid diets are a God send...
Vets should sell their BMW's to support a sick cat like my 20 year old indoor male...not demand my car to kill my best friend...

You lost me at eating an animals internal organs 😣. It’s great to give advice on a supplement that worked for you, but please - respectfully - don’t give health or nutritional advice - this is WHY people are so confused 🙃 80% of what you hear or read on nutrition is absolutely incorrect. Food companies want to sell their food, supplement companies want to sell their supplements, diet companies want to sell their diet products, etc. they do not care about our health or wellness. Holistic nutritionist here 🙋🏼♀️. Animal products are extremely hard on our kidneys, liver and digestive system. One out of two men & one out of three women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, and it’s not from eating plants. Now cats ARE obligate carnivores (dogs are omnivores) - they NEED meat to thrive. No kibble (cooked to death so pets won’t get sick - almost no nutrients) Nutrient deficiency and toxicity are the two reasons people or animals get disease. Freeze dried raw food, raw meat from a holistic pet store (do not feed your animal raw meat from the grocery store, as they expect you to cook that and there’s a very good chance of food poisoning. It happens more often than not in people yet they blame it on an “upset stomach” or “ The stomach flu” - when more times than not it’s animal products (meat, dairy, eggs), or the frozen raw meat RAW INSTINCT you can get in Petco or Petsmart. Shop around, I did and I found a holistic pet store that sells raw meat from a local farm and sells it at a very reasonable price at $4.25 a block (3-4 meals for my cat). It’s actually cheaper than the bad stuff! I just thought in the refrigerator and warm some filtered kettle water (do not cook or overheat the meat over 118°, otherwise you start losing 50% of valuable nutrients). I will look into this supplement for a friends kitty. My cat has never been to the vet except when I adopted her at four weeks old (feral mama cat abandoned her litter because her milk didn’t come in 😢) to get fixed and once for fleas) and she’s 13 years old! No meds, no expensive vet visits, and a very playful, happy, healthy kitty
❤️🐱
and where is your doctor's degree to give nutritional advice and to say protein is hard on the kidneys or are you just repeating what you've heard from a "medical expert"? Well I'm doing the same and the information I've given is from doctors in their field.
@@HelpingHermit Sir, I didn’t claim to be a doctor, so I don’t have a medical degree, but I do have a diploma for my studies in holistic nutrition from one of the best universities - for this - on the West coast. Medical doctors (& vets) get 0-2 hours of nutritional training ALL through med school. So asking a doctor how to get healthy, is like asking a plumber to rewire your house, or build a computer from scratch. Doctors don’t know how to cure or heal disease, sickness, illness etc. (if they did, there wouldn’t be someone dying of heart disease every 36 seconds, or someone diagnosed with cancer every 30 seconds) they are diagnosticians - they know how to diagnose and treat illness & disease with either medication, surgery or both. I on the other hand have helped people get off medications when medical doctors told them they would be on for life (High blood pressure meds, high cholesterol meds, acid reflux meds, etc.), because they did not know how to help them - but they did know how to “diagnose” them. Do you question your electrician when they come to your house about their degree? I’m used to it, because food is highly addictive and it’s like dealing with addicts when I’m asked how they can change whatever condition they have - and they’re told to change their diet. I’m proud of what I’ve learned about health, wellness & nutrition over the last 7 years. for one thing, after I graduated I went completely plant based with an emphasis on Whole Foods and about 70% raw foods (when food is cooked you lose 50% of the nutrients - but w/raw food like salads, fruits, vegetables, etc. you retain ALL of the nutrients and enzymes) & never got sick again! Also my doctor said my bloodwork Looks like I’m 21 years old, & I’m over 50, and that it can’t get any better. I’ve watched 3 friends heal their bodies of “terminal” stage four cancer, AFTER the doctor gave my friend no more than three years to live, and another friend was given 18 months to live (she healed her self in under a year - completely cancer free) and a client of mine never said the words out loud, because he believed in mind over matter, along with detoxifying his body and drinking fresh green juices, lots of water and other natural modalities. Instead of getting on the defense, maybe a “thank you” or ask some questions to learn yourself. I’ve never taken offense when I’m corrected on something - I always ask WHY? So I can better myself. But when it comes to health and nutrition in humans, cats & dogs I know my stuff! I helped one of my clients who’s doggy was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was cancerous and she was told he only had about three months to live. She took some of my advice (unfortunately not all of it) and he lived another year and a half 🐶❤️
Again, thanks for the recommendation on the supplement - but please don’t give misinformation on health related advice. if you do want to learn how to live illness free and save money on medication’s and doctors visits, I highly recommend watching these documentaries:
Fed up
Cowspiracy
The game changers
Fat, sick & nearly dead
There’s a great - free - documentary on RUclips called “Jason Vale: Superjuice me” which shows the power of juice fasting & heals a bunch of very sick people
For animals I tell everyone who loves their pet to watch “pet fooled” on Prime.
@@jaylynn444 you do realize that cats are carnivores? One reason American cats have kidney issues is because their owners are feeding them vegan, grain made processed garbage. If pet owners fed their cats organic calf liver as their primary diet they would do better than the average cat.
Bro dogs and cats are supposed to have organ meat. Educate yourself before you go after people making helpful videos
@jaylynn444 you sound brilliant on technical issues but no need to be an ass about it. I am vegan and recall all the Cattlemans lobby and the Dairy Association lobbyists fighting us with completely skewed and cherry picked nutritional info saying humans had to eat meat and dairy. Ha! Recently I read a vegan dog is now 27 years old. I taught nutrition for 10 years University level. I say, if all our pets are having these issues with too high protein and phosphorus...why aren't we adjusting our analyses with these facts. Why do I need a prescription to be able to purchase food with less protein? In humans there is a disease related to too much meat...like what the Atkins diet resulted in ..kwashikors...but I will seek out the freeze dried meat you suggested...but I do counsel you to not get on this 1984 misinformation bandwagon. Misinformation means intentionally wrong info, this fellow here seems an honest contributor and allowed you a platform for you and your perspectives. Disagreements and perspectives other than your own are not misinformation...
Thanks!
