I bought a farming bot way back in WOTLK, I was banned within 12 hours of using it. I sat my 6 month ban and haven’t botted since. It amazes me that people get away with these bots for so long without getting banned.
Movement is how Google detects bots too; the new captcha is far less about you "clicking the image with "X" and mostly how your mouse moves to click the panels - bots move in strict lines, whereas humans have more erratice, circular patterns (just observe how you move your own mouse)...
ran into a holy priest bot around 2100mmr, it would run forward at the start of the match and the milisecond they were in combat the bot would plant and not move at all and just cast, was ez wins once we realized after the first round but holy shit the fact that this bot was able to make it to that mmr is wild
It's a shame Blizzard stopped caring about pvp several expansions ago. It just gets worse as time goes on, because people get more and more blatant knowing that they won't be punished in any meaningful way for ruining everybody else's experience.
Blizzard had a chance for wow pvp to be huge but they just hemorrhaged 90% of their pvpers to mobas instead of implementing good systems, really sad to see.

I will also express my opinion on the matter. Ven, not everyone has been playing the game for 20 years. I have been playing for 3 months. I play Devoker. I'm still learning how to use the mouse to move around. And I still use "AWSD" to move. But my mouse setting is 10, and I can turn 180 degrees in a second. I'm still getting used to it. I can't unlearn not moving with the keyboard. It seems unnatural to me to move with the mouse. I'm also still learning the positions, when and where to stand. Mosty of the time i stand still and do damage, and i move only when i'm attacked. I fly when i can. Just because someone doesn't move like a pro or advanced player doesn't make them a bot. i will never use a bot because i will never learn to play. The goal is to learn to play, not to accumulate a rating. I agree 100% that bots should be removed from the game completely.
Man, I’m not surprised any of this is happening… I’m decent enough to hold my own and find success in Arena… but, this can seriously kill/discourage players who are actively trying to get better. Hell, this is discouraging for me, too… guess I’ll be fighting bots from here on out lol

Bots can even fly dragonriding mounts now. My realm is full of them. Many players are using bots to farm or boosting low-level characters in Nokhundo Hold.
Idk if Myst still has it, but here quite a few months ago, I was doing 3s with him and our buddy thunder. But we ran into a boomie bot and he had set patterns of everything and we were calling literally every single thing the bot was doing. I believe Myst was streaming at the time, but go ask him about the boomie bot from several months back, I'm sure he'll remember it. I even told them "watch, im gonna bolt and he's gonna auto meld" and it happened exactly like I said it would 😂 because he'd done it multiple times over
Inb4 people will use bots as a reason why they cant push rating. Add that to the lack of ´´inflation´´ that everyone uses as an excuse. Even though the same people as usually get their usual rating without inflation and with bots
Rocket league had this issue about 6 months ago - psyonix came out, openly stated theyll be perma banning every single one of these, and any and all discords/groups/youtube channels will be taken down as well if they dont stop leaking the software. Suddenly, botting stopped being an issue lol
What do you get from botting an arena? I can see bgs, where there are enough people to carry. In an arena though, I can't imagine their win rate is very high.
I can see it being a lot more prevelant in solo rbg's honestly, there's not as much z-axis things to worry about, and classes like ele shaman can pretty much just be a turret in team fight
Blizz’s employee turn over is damn high recently that you don’t even know who’s working on what anymore . I’m sure many projects were started and finished by someone else, etc. this happened with d4 and overwatch so not surprised if WoW has the same issue .

YES if it'll help Solo SHuffle, the bots will be = skill so it's fair. I honestly don't give a shit if they are bots if I can get instant ques on my DPS.
It's pretty bad currently. Although I am still subbed through the early part of december but I have refrained from playing due to this issue. When gearing up alts or different specs the BGs are laoded with them making it just not worth the time. I hope it gets fixed soon as I will not return to a mess like this.
It's not that its too much work. It would just cost them money. 7,000 players x $15 a month = $105,000 a month they would lose if they banned those accounts.

These rotation bots have always existed and they all get detected every once in a while. They might even be detected already and blizzard is waiting for a bigger ban wave like we had a month ago
to add to this. the people who cheat in WoW do this on a regular bases (esp. in pvp). They have a main license with their main character and a 2nd, 3rd or even 4th license that they cheat on until they get banned. Achievements,mounts etc. carry over to the main one so it doesnt matter to them. The big problem is that they do not get perma banned and its mostly only one license that gets banned and not the entire account.

Ban waves are not the solution, if you do some research most bots are sold between 100 - 150 a month. Add on top 12 dollars for a subscription and you end up with $130 after taxes. Even if blizzard bans a cheater, he is straight into the game, no gear, just goes offline for few hours, spams bgs, gets the gear in a week he's back in the arena above 2000. They need to remove all the input sources that bots use, such as Addons, macros, and introduce some counter measures to obscure the data that is being transferred from the server to make bot inputs harder to execute. There is also that even with all the obscuring in the world, in a small form factor mode such as arena i think the battle is lost before it even started, as there is no way to make 100% fool proof solution against it, hope rated solo q bgs will fix it as even if one person is cheating the game doesn't change much when the rest of the people are playing fare. But in a 3v3 1 is enough to change the entire outcome of the game.
Not trying to sound racist here but I've noticed a large amount of bots and cheaters ever since WoW was shut down in China. I've also seen a lot more Asian character names in game as well since it happened.
Asians are known to use dishonest methods to get ahead, not racist. Should see what they do to cooking oil in their country when they are done with it.
It's worse in epic bgs where you have dks tanking entire enemy teams while killing boss. Never missing a click and only taking .03 damage self healing for more than that.

Now there was a promotion for this boost, hence the flood of boots. The same thing happens in Ohn'ahran Plains. I kill bots that play war mode. Even if I lower their HP to 10%, they still spam their skills and won't even change their target to me. It's terrible that players who pay for the game month after month have to play with cheaters. Blizzard must allow this because it makes a lot of money from selling boosters.
This is why the Wrath Classic PvP is a huge joke.. I'm at a 2k rating right now in WTLK classic, and damn.. I've never seen so many botters and scripters.. instant kicks the split second you start casting, the AHK scripters, it's just getting out of hand.. it's nearly impossible to gain rating past a certain point when half the players are cheating...
Call of duty probably makes more than WoW. Also, those accounts are still paying monthly fees. So, the trade off is let them play and collect cash or maybe ppl quit because of botting but you don’t see Ven discontinuing his subscription, lol.

Botting and the Classic Era PvP change basically killed pvp. Sometimes wait 1-3 hours for a WSG queue. Only PvEers and bots queueing AV now.
