The reason why, is because Britain followed a policy called "Divide and Rule" to manage populations in undivided India. The name is self explanatory, they basically divided people on any basis whether religious, linguistic, skin colour, etc to fulfil their own objectives.
Contemporarily, they divided India and Pakistan in 1947 so that both countries continue to not progress.

I personally would love that India and Pakistan can become one again but cannot also forget the bitter history between us ...it's complicated to say the least....

The documentary won't tell why Modi said those words. Pakistan would sent terrorists in Kashmir to kill Indian Army Soldiers and Modi is the first to retaliate by taking action against those terrorist. And even crazier part is that we have shown full evidence of killing terrorists and destroying their camps but Pakistan rather than thanking us for helping in fight over terrorism(because Pakistan have like bomb blasts once a week) would kept denying that any such thing has happened. It's just so weird.

Gist of the atrocities he faced:
    (1) Watched his grandfather die.
    (2) His father saved 2 young Sikh boys by shaving their hair and getting rid of their turbans.
    (3) He got lost during this entire ordeal. Kept walking on the tracks and jumping from train to train and finally arrived in Delhi after which he luckily was able to locate a relative he knew there, since he had visited before. As luck would have it, he found his family there too.
This is only the stuff I remember, the horrors go on, and on. I'd say he was one of the luckier few.

    1. The reason why the border was created:
Muslims in India felt that they were treated badly as compared to others. They wanted their representation in the Congress and started their own political party called "All India Muslim league". Their initial focus was to protect the culture and heritage of Muslims and give them their rights, education etc. But at some point they thought they needed a separate country as this won't be possible in India. Several nation wide movements later, british government and congress representatives allowed the two nation theory.
    2. Why killings happened:
Pakistan was established as an Islamic nation while India was declared secular. People wanted to be close to their religious. Millions migrated overnight from one province to another. How would they settle in new area if they left empty handed? So what they did was, they kind of just declared "Hey, this region is of this religion. Get out or convert " which led to lot of violence.

In 1947, he genuinely believed that he could work in Lahore (now in Pakistan) and his family would live in delhi (in India) and was going to visit them once a month. Little did he know.. When violence broke out in delhi they all had to flee. It was so quick that the food was still on the stove and the new house they got in Lahore originally belonged to a Hindu professor at Punjab university who did the same and ran. It was basically a real life purge. Murder, rapes, theft and violence, everything went unpunished.

PAKISTAN has Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Hindko, Afgani and a few more languages. India has more languages INCLUDING ALL THOSE WHAT PAKISTAN HAS.
SEE THE TENSION IS STILL THERE between India and Pakistan. But it is more between the governments. Over there in Pakistan unofficially the army controls.
But when people from India and Pakistan talk they love each other. Now because of Internet people have friends over the borders. But it is the governments who make it worse IN PAKISTAN IN MANY schools they are taught to think bad about Hindus and Sikhs AND SIMILARLY in few States of India there in many schools in the books they are taught to hate Muslim. How are they taught to hate- It is by writing the BIASED HISTORY IN BOOKS.

One of Gandhi's earlier lieutenant, who either felt he was sidelined or was a little more power hungry played the religious card and got his muslim brothers to demand for a separate country for muslims with an argument that they would be persecuted by the majority Hindus if they stayed back in India. The British were more than glad to accept fully understanding the repercussions that would follow later.

What I heard about partition is that at that moment after world war you heard in the video about the situation of British rule and Indians were protesting for independence and they got it after so long. British officials were so scared of Indians ( India+pakistan) that time they thought instead of Indians coming behind us to take revenge let them make fight with each other. In that case they’ll be fighting and we can escape easily. Other reason was that they knew that Indians (india+Pakistan) will be so strong and maybe can come to rule us in revenge. That’s why they did this partition thing. Reduction of power we can say they played smart.

The Muslims were scared that they would become a minority in India. Because they did not like the idea of following a Hindu Leader.
So, they decided and the leader of the Muslim league proposed a partition of only Muslim majority country and that is Pakistan!
Although India strongly condemned this and was against the idea, it had to agree because there was soo many people fighting and killing and raping each other on both sides. Those were some of the most Brutal and violent times. So, the British forced themselves and were the mediators for the partition.

11:27 see Alissa ji what was happening then was that the Britishers used Divide-and-Rule trick to rule India. So in 19th and early 20th century Britishers put so much fuel in the fire of Hate based on religion and caste WHICH INCREASED THE TENSIONS A LOT BETWEEN HINDUS AND MUSLIMS AND SIKHS. From 1900 to 1948 many clashes happened between Hindus and Muslims. A political party Muslim League was also formed earlier then. Indian National Congress and Muslim League were two major parties then. And when the call for 'Poorn Swaraj' was given by Freedom Fighters leaders in 1930s the Muslim League and Indian National Congress started working on forming policies to help Muslims regards Hindus respectively. And in 1945 a big clash happened. And president of Muslim League Mohammad Ali Jinnah and President of India National Congress Jawaharlal Nehru wanted to become First Prime Minister of independent India. So the Talk for a seperate Nation for Muslims originated. BUT BUT IT WAS CLEARLY STATED THAT PAKISTAN WILL BE FORMED AND AFTER A FEW YEAR (5 or 7) PAKISTAN WILL JOIN BACK INDIA. (sadly that never happened). So Mohammad Ali Jinnah became First Prime Minister of Pakistan and Jawaharlal Nehru became first Prime minister of India. The TOPIC TO FORM TWO SEPERATE NATIONAL STARTED in, if I am not wrong it was in, 1935. So Britishers were to do that, do make two seperate nation. FACT- MAJORITY OF PEOPLE NEVER WANTED TO HAVE TWO SEPARATE NATIONS. And the hate which Britishers increased between Hindus and Muslims is till day and after Independence many riots have happened. The hate existed since Mughals invaded India but it decreased and again INCREASED BY BRITISHERS.

In the Indian-subcontinent (that consists of countries such as Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan), Hindus are in majority, so, the Muslim community and rightly so, lead by its leader Md. Ali Jinnah, felt they would be treated as second-class citizens within their own country. Muslims demanded a separate country named Pakistan from the British, which was later agreed and done in 1947, during the final days of the rule.
I am from India, and I feel Jinnah was absolutely right. Muslims in India are still treated as second-class citizens. India is constitutionally a secular state, but we are yet to elect a Muslim Prime Minister in our country. I know we are a parliamentary system, but still. We have elected several Muslim Presidents in the past, but that is a ceremonial post. Presidency in India is like monarchy, they hold certain powers, but it is the government, lead by the PM, who holds real power. Presidents in India are just puppets, chosen by various political parties to woo certain sections of the society. For example, THEY (MPs, regional legislators) elect a Muslim president, when they are targeting Muslim voters, Dalit president, when they want to appease to some of the most oppressed people of our country, the Adivasis and the scheduled castes.
    MY POINT IS:
Establishments on both sides want this religious differences to remain, and this tension to grow, because that is what diverts the mind of our people from demanding real development and rights. That is why governments on both sides keep instilling fear in the minds of people and spew venom against each other to keep us in an illusion.
Reality, but harsh! My own people will troll me for this, I know. BTW, I don't even care!!!! After all, Delhi se hu bhen***d😂😂😂
WE ARE A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY FOR A REASON.

    1. Urdu(pakistan) and hindi(india) have different script but easily understandable vocally.
    2. Brits divided india cause there was a politician by the name Jinnah, who wanted a land for muslims( i think he wanted power so he wanted a place after brits left so he could rule it) and he demanded it on behalf of all muslims and Indian politicians hated him so they agreed to his demand as to get rid of him, later on jinnah became Governor General (sorta president) of pakistan and nehru (his nemesis now) became PM of india.
    3. Muslims wanted more land so they claim kashmir, india refused, so they had wars and thus the hatred of each side since their countrymen were killed.

Pakistan was a state created in 1947 on the basis of religion, it was actually one political party in india called the Muslim league which was very pro British, they demanded an exclusive Muslim state and it was also aligned with the British policy of divide and rule,so they gave them that, the present location of Pakistan was not the place where this political party was based, and people of that place did not demand a new state, the people of Muslim league were from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, they moved to Pakistan after independence and basically forced the people of that part to adopt a new way of life, where Urdu was the official language, hence Pakistan was created, but today there are more Muslims in India than Pakistan. The border is heavily guarded as there was a lot of smuggling of drugs and arms into India in the 80s, which created a drug epidemic in Punjab, even to this day, Indian forces seized 205 kgs of heroine 2 days ago, its a way for Pakistan to create insurgence in Kashmir, the drugs and money that get smuggled into India is moved to Kashmir as Kashmir is next to Punjab, and smuggling drugs across the Kashmir border is not viable so they do it through Punjab. And the British left India not because of Gandhi, but because they feared a mutiny in the army, the navy had already rebelled once and they feared they would all be killed if the army did the same thing.

The main reason partition happened is due to the fact that Muhammad Ali Jinnah (one of the founders of Pakistan) knew that once the British left India, cooperation between Muslims and Hindus would be nearly impossible due to difference in religion and many historical reasons. Even when the British controlled India, frequent violence between Muslims and Hindus would occur so imagine how bad it would've gotten once the British left. The only possible solution to this was for Muslims to have their own country where they were in the majority. Majority of the Muslims living in India accepted this idea (though some Muslims were also against this). However what NO ONE expected was how the British were gonna handle this. Mr Jinnah was forced to accept these borders of Pakistan by the British otherwise there would've been no Pakistan. I keep seeing many comments below (most notably many Indians) trying to spread misinformation regarding this (the once who hate Pakistan) so be careful reading the comment section guys.
