British partitioned India because of two reasons:
    1. The two-nation theory:
It states that Hindus and Muslims cannot live together, or Muslims cannot live in a Hindu majority state, so they wanted to create their nation. But now we know that when East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) gets separated from West Pakistan (now Pakistan) because of the imposition of Urdu language on East Pakistan (Bengali speaking). Also, because 60% of the population of Pakistan resides in present-day Bangladesh (mostly Muslim) were not given adequate political representation in the parliament, and they were considered inferior to the West Pakistanis. So when the Pakistani army carried out atrocities on Bangladeshis, they got separated in 1971.
So when Bangladesh separated from Pakistan, the two-nation theory failed because nations cannot be divided on the basis of religion; they are divided on the basis of language, ethnicity, and culture.
    Read More on this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangladesh_Liberation_War.
    2. Secondly, the British wanted to create a buffer state for the western powers to fight with the Soviet Union, which was expanding rapidly. At that time, both Indian and Afghan leaders have a good relationship with the Soviet Union. British wanted to create an artificial state that will help them fight against the Soviet Union in the future because if India were united, then the Soviet Union would have got access to the Indian Ocean, and that would make it much more potent than western powers.
There plan works when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, western powers (including USA, UK, etc.) uses Pakistan and its military dictatorship to counter the Soviet Union by supplying them weapons and money, some of which they use against India by carrying out terrorism and proxy wars.
Pakistani army created a false impression in the minds of regular civilians through fake history and propaganda in the education system of Pakistan that India does not consider Pakistan a state and will attack and reoccupy it. Although the reality is that India has never attacked Pakistan. On the contrary, Pakistan has attacked India four times and also carried out multiple terrorist activities.
(Here by Pakistan, I mean Pakistani army, ISI, Islamists, radicals, and establishment. What you see in these humane videos is the regular Pakistanis. But that is not the complete reality. No government in Pakistan has ever completed it’s five-year term since independence because of the multiple coups by the military)
So when the Indian government says they will isolate Pakistan, it does not mean its people but its establishment that doesn’t want peace with India because if there is peace with India, then Pakistan does not need that considerable army and nuclear weapons.
Also, if Pakistan has peace with India, Pakistani army generals who make vast sums of money on the war economy and have control over almost everything in Pakistan, including business, education, energy, etc., will go away, which they don’t want(of course).
This issue is extremely complicated and vast and requires thorough research. The video that you have watched is only 10% of the actual problem and only one perspective that politicians are evil (they sometimes are actually). But there is so much more to the story including terrorism (partly the reason for fencing at the border) and much more.

    Breif reason for partition:
After seeing the unity of hindu and Muslims in the 1857 war of independence, British followed the policy of divide and rule to instigate the feeling of communalism in them. And over the course of 90 years they made such situations which made Hindus and Muslims believe that their interest are different and they cannot live in one country.
So people ( especially Muslims, fearing the Hindu being in majority) themselves demanded partition. Hence 1947 partition happened

    • @prateekbhore2264
      @prateekbhore2264 5 лет назад +16

What a false analysis! Muslims that demanded partition of India were inspired from wahabi ideology, that started in 17th century,it was there plan also known as Ghazwa e hind. Which means ISLAMIZATION OF INDIA.
British just agreed to there wishes.

    • @anshumalimishra7383
      @anshumalimishra7383 5 лет назад +9

@@prateekbhore2264 i agree with you to some extent but the origin of differences between Hindus and Muslims was the systemic eradication of unity by Britishers.
In 1857 the unity was such that hindu sepoys willingly accepted Muslims ruler Bahadur shah Zafar as leader.
Muslims protected the slaughter of cows.
In 1905 partition of Bengal, hindu and muslim tied rakhi showcasing unity.
It was the British policy of divide and rule that led to the emergence of conflict of interest between them.
Cashing even the slightest possibility of conflict and turning it into communalism.
      Ex. Promoting separate electorate etc.
Bringing the tension to the point that both muslim and hindu conservative started to believe in two nation theory leading to partition.
And regarding the wahabi movement, it was a revivalist response to the western influence and the degradation that had come in the Indian muslim practices . It was a religious reform just like that of arya samaj. And wahabi movement was also mainly directed against Britishers in 1857, not particularly against Hindus

I agree with what you say regarding the divide and rule policy of the colonial government. But we shall not forget one thing. It all happened before 1950....the queen or the previous kings(after the democratic part was set up) never had a power to influence decisions..they could only debate them..they never had the power even to live there own life..each small personal thing of there’s requires a council approval of ministers which are chosen democratically..so specially after the 1940’s ie ww2 there power are very limited even if they don’t seem

You want the politics of Kashmir? I'll give you the politics of Kashmir.
When the British left, Kashmir was to be a separate Nation, it hadn't actually decided which Country to join. The place called Kashmir itself is not Kashmir, Kashmir is just a Valley in the Himalayas, there's also Leh, Laddakh, Gilgit, Jammu, Baltisatant and Aksai chin regions in that Area. Jammu had Hindu majority, Gilgit and baltistan had Muslim Majority, Leh laddakh had hindu and Buddhist mixed, Aksai had Buddhist majority and Kashmir Valley itself was mixed but Majorly Muslim population.
When the British left, Kashmir was Independent nation till then because the Hindu King of these regions wasn't sure which side to join.
Pakistan Launched a full scale invasion on Kashmir just weeks after independence hoping the Muslim majority of the state will join them, and the King wanted help. The King asked India and India basically said we'll only help you if you join us. So the king signed Instrument of accession. Indian Constitution gave Kashmir a special state status, thus allowing it to have its own flag and constitution through Article 370 (which just abolished on 31oct 2019). Kashmir was kind of part of india but still different.
Then, to the current scenario, in 80s there was insurgency in Kashmir, Muslim leaders which wanted to be separated from india and join Pakistan (Sponsored by Pakistan) began their propaganda and started committing Genocide Againt Kashmiri Hindu population, and thus the Mass exodus took place of Hindus from the valley. Since then Indian Governments have Placed all Kashmiris under watch. Their state assembly gets dissolved again and again and president's rule and AFSPA ( Armed forced special provisions act) is established, taking away the democracy of all kashmiris. Many Incidents have been reported by Kashmiris that Indian armed forces committing serious Human right violations and getting away with it due to AFSPA.
Pakistan sponsored Terrorist regularly Communalise and radicalise the population by pointing out these incidents and saying India is the enemy and the youth of kashmir regularly stones Indian forces for as little as 500₹ per day.
Pakistan wants Kashmir because their major River Sutlej all its Tributaries begin in kashmir. And we claim it ours because of Instrument of accesion.
Pakistan has already taken some part of it which they called Azad Kashmir (free kashmir) and Gilgit-Baltistan. Indians just call it PoK(Pak occupied Kashmir) and Kashmir state assembly had vacant seats for the people that were to be elected from PoK. But Pak actually administrates those areas and thats Why Map of Kashmir Is shown differently in Indian versions and Global/Pakistani versions.

My grandparents on both sides are refugees of partition. They lived in what is today Bangladesh and was East Pakistan from 1947-1971. This focused on the Western border, the same thing happened in the East. They literally left with what they could carry on their backs overnight back then. The trauma continues to define the dynamic between the countries even today.

Nothing can account for the loss of lives and livelihood in this civil war, there is no measure of loss of human life. Our grandparents tell us about the partition, which is just two generations above us. You have to go through it to understand it, and only India-Pakistan can understand this trauma. @Korbin and @Rick :
"RADCLIFFE LINE" - Same thing was in Sacred Games !! when you were wondering whats the connection in there.
And to asnwer Rick, "Why it was split in half?"
To break india and rule British used a policy called "Divide and Rule". Which was being used in every ruled nation of Raj. In India, they divided people on based of Religion (unfortunately it continues till now in minute amount)
While struggle for independence of Bharat/Hindustan/Bharatwarsha or India (as said by British because 7 Sindus/Indus or major rivers were here, 5 in Punjab and 2 in north. And Britts back then being lazy changed many names to their convenience , eg: calling sindu as Indus, Kolkata as Calcutta, etc.)
People started to get divided on based on religion and two major religion being Hinduism (collection of Sanatan and Arya samaj and other branches) and Islam. And minority being Sikhs, Christians, Jains, Buddhist, etc.
Some Hindu as well as Muslim political leaders got insecure and saw that Muslims are being ignored or mistreated. They gave draft to such splinters of fire to make a big fire out of it .. obviously for political benefits in TO BE formed Nation. They proposed Two nation theory. One separate nation for Muslims and then a remaining one for others. This was proposed to Brits. ANd was requested to bring two nation thing in picture. The Brits took advantage and did what they do best.. "YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN"
They took advantage of that to break india further and make brothers fight with brothers.
Post separation overnight, chaos and religious sentiments and many other negative things. There was a big riots where Hindu-SIkh-Muslims started killing each other. Pakistan sent a train which was raided and everyone was killed. So it was a train full of raped women and dead bodies to city of Amritsar (railway station in Amritsar) and it was said that on the train it was written in Punjabi and Urdu, "Kafir ! learn how to cut from us". And India responded by sending a train with dead bodies and raped women in similar way.
(these are stories told to me by my Grandad who came to india just before the dead body train from Lahore as he was working there in the capital city of Punjab and Punjab was a separate country back in the days which was part of Indian Sub continent)
So Indian subcontinent was made into Pakistan(East pakistan and west pakistan. East pakistan is now Bangladesh, a separate country bordering West Bengal. ANd west pakistan is now Pakistan) and India.
Now second question, "Why Kashmir is the way it is?"
When the thing about Partition came into picture, Sardar Patel also called Iron Man of India. He started uniting all smaller kingdoms which were part of Indian Subcontinent (Marathas, SIkh Kingdom, Nawabs, Nizams, Kingdom of Jammu and Kashmir, etc) to that they cannot be partitioned. ANd at the same time promised the Rulers/Kings that once these Brits are out then we can sit and get our kingdoms back, the way they were earlier. But first, push Britian out.
Post independence and partition, unfortunately Sardar Patel died and this promise was not kept. Also, Pakistan attacked state of Jammu and Kashmir to take over not because of its beauty but also because of its strategic location (Khyber Pass). The one who rules here can control Three nations, namely, India, pakistan and China. So Jammu and Kashmir took refuge in India and agreed to be part of India until the attacks are stopped. (there are different versions of this but this is what i have read from Indian History)
Third point towards the end. "If sikhs would do that for other religion"
Yes !! As per Sikhi, Sikh has to take care of every religion. He has to do the service to every religion. There is a Mosque in Punjab "Guru Ki Maseet" means The mosque of Guru. It is a UN heritage site. It was ordered to be built by 6th Guru of Sikh because Muslims in his kingdom (Guru was also a king) asked to a place of worship. So it was built because SANGAT (people of holy congregation agreed to it). And the Father of 6th Guru, Guru Arjan Dev (who was 5th Guru of Sikhs) was tortured and killed by Mughal Muslim Governor and post his death the some took the sword and built the army and became a kind by winning battles. this was done to show that SIkhi was against the tyranny but not against any religion. Because religion is like a river going to sea. They all will reach sea with their own path.
Similar to this, Muslims in Pakistan have been taking care of Sikh Gurudwara as their own place of workship with all the respect. (and it is their and everybodies Gurudwara.)
Building of mosque was shown in KESARI, this event was taken in consideration.
Its just like today you are living in a place and over the night you are told US is partitioned and Korbin is now in a separate country. You will not stop loving him and his family and Korbin wont stop either (even though he has a heart of Ice/white walker)
So you guys will take care of each other's things that are there in ur vicinity. You might not say a Thanks to each other but you will be thankful.
I hope RICK AND KORBIN SEES my long post .. it took me an hour to see and answer your questions.. hahaha

Last week I saw a post on facebook of a pakistani, asking indian sikhs to nuke Quadiyan (a place near Batala, which is center of Ahmedi muslims movement), in return of their favour of opening Kartarpur Corridor for Sikhs!
Believe me when I say this, I've been going to that place for sometime and till date I didn't know about it being special to a specific community among muslims. I had my relatives get treatment from a Muslim Homeopath there, and still noone was concerned about his religion or stuff.
This makes me question, that if they (pakistanis) can think like this about a sect of their own religion, on what basis can we trust their respect for other religions and their intentions concerning them?

He saw those who weren’t able to go inside completely get chopped down by sword wielding Muslim goons lining the tracks as the train moved forward. It was ghastly, awful and horrible. Some bodies remained on train as they acted as a buffer between the living passengers and the swords.
He used to tell me tales of going to the station daily once he got to Delhi, to look for relatives, and how he used to see trains full of bodies every day. Of stories of announcements on the radio of the names of people who managed to cross over safely. I am still surprised that he never had episodes of PTSD. My grandmother’s tales were worse. She lost family in more than one way.
Yet all my grandparents who were forced to flee always hoped to reunite.

To answer Rick’s question as to why draw a line at all and not keep it as it-
1.The British played a smart and horrible move of “Divide and Rule” quite early in their reign.
    2. By the time 1947 arrived there was no way of going back to as-is situation because of the grown up tensions between Hindus and Muslims.
    3. The biggest reason though is that leaders on both sides were power hungry and wanted to be the Prime Minister of independent India.
    4. Both of them wouldn’t give up and so partition became inevitable to keep both sides happy. Mahatma Gandhi aided in the thought of Partition.

You are wrong on point 3 and 4. Gandhi did all to avert partition, along with many other leaders. It was Jinnah who was adamant. Many tried to pacify him. But it was direct action of Jinnah which led to point of no return.
Jinnah too in reality also did not want partition till 1947, rather he used it as a bargaining tool, but eventually got it when all options were exhausted!

Korbin and rick, I am being nice and truthful :) :
    1. I am an indian and i love pakistani music and food and may be people too :)
    2. Common people on both sides are similar and dont have enmity but politicians love to score points over each other
    3. Happy to inform that both countries have buried the bitterness for a while to establish a corridor between the sikh shrine in Pakistan and India, inaugurated just day before yesterday.
    4. The border ceremony you saw is a healthy competition.
    5. Parition happened because of British policy of divide and rule
    6. Indian leaders never wanted it and so we have the biggest muslim population. But sadly, since Pakistan was a muslim nation, Hindus were persecuted and converted in pakistan and their numbers declined to less than half of what it was right after partition
    7. U.S policy of containment of Russia in Afghanistan which has roots of terrorism also has the root of pakistani army's (not pakistani people) propaganda of insurgency in Kashmir and India. (Kashmir issue is too complicated to explain here.)
    8. Military control in pakistan's pseudo democracy is a distress for both countries. Indian foreign policy is to have a peaceful and developing pakistan because otherwise is a huge loss of money, lives, and constant insecurity that both the sides are living with when we literally have 1000s of other problems of our own to deal with.

The case of Sind province & what happened to the Hindu Sindhis is much more poignant. Unlike for Bengalees & Punjabis, the Sindhis were't given the choice of partition of their province (may be because Hindu majority "Karachi" city would have to go to India then). However a day will come when Hindu Sindhis will go to their homeland, with the Muslims there inviting them with open arms. They saw their state (Sind, Sindh or Sindhu) that was a prosperous state deteriorated, with the heavy Mohajir exodus (predominantly from UP, Bihar, Maharashatra & MP) and became a hotbed for crime. It is so, while the immigrant Sindhis in India started new enterprises providing employment (JB Mangharam was one) for many more. With their exceptional good looks they found their ready calling in Indian Cinema (Bollywood) industry with Ms. Sadhna as prime example. They spread out to many cities & parts of India. One of my best friends (Govind Boolchand) was from Visakhapatnam, where his parents migrated to.

To understand the partition, you need to read about the khilafat movement, where Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his followers fought for a separate nation. It wasn't the idea of the British to separate the country. That is just a lie. The British took advantage of the stupidity of jinnah where he asked for a separate nation.
Also, the country wasn't divided just like that. There was an actual vote among the Muslim population of British India if they wanted a separate country or not and nearly 75% people said yes. It wasn't just British divided India for the heck of it. They took advantage of someone else ideas and did what the Muslim leaders asked them to do. Not to mention, people like Nehru were lustful for power so they let it happen for reducing competition in India.

Rick Segall asked: "Why a partition in the first place, what was the motivation of the Brits?"
The answer is quite simple no Phd. required.
We need to undertand that the "Cold War" started after wwII. By 1947 when India was getting its independence the world was divided into two parts, America and its allies and The USSR and its allies. Britain and America felt that India might fall to the USSR because of its close proximity to the Russians. The western powers needed a country to be pro America in Asia.
The partition of India "made sense", create a pro western Pakistan and blame it on the Hindus and Muslims. America and Britain have always supported Pakistan and its good business for the arms manufacturers. I hope that this explaination helps.
With love and best wishes from South Africa.

    Why Partition had to happen:
The basic premise of the British empire was to "Divide and Rule". They created differences within communities, made them fight with each other and pretend to be everyone's friend to keep ruling.
200 years of such calculated divide created irreversible trust issues mostly between the two communities of Hindus and Muslims which exist even today.
These trust issues peaked as independence was nearing as Jinnah, the leader of the Muslim League was told (by British bureaucrats) that a Hindu leader of independent India would mean the end of already minority Muslim population. This created a fear psychosis and large scale rioting and things only got out of hand from there.

Tejasvi Joshi that's a totally wrong stat brother. If you look at 1951 census data of both countries and add the numbers, total number of muslims comes to 102 ish million out of 435 million total population... which is roughly 22%. So 22% of undivided India would have been muslims. You feeling insecure is the direct result
Of British colonial system of divide and rule which is still being practiced by our politicians...

    • @r2.b2
      @r2.b2 5 лет назад

Non Existant: while you are correct to a point, the unity of Hindus and Muslims that was slowly evolving in the wake of a new enemy frightened them. 1857 saw no divisions along religious lines, the British rule nearly collapsed after that. It was luck, grit and the fact that the majority of the native Rajas did not join in that allowed the British rule to continue. Technically British “rule” started in 1857. Bahadur Shah “Zafar” was still nominally the “Emperor of India”. To prevent another such debacle, the British tweaked their divide and rule policy along religious rather than political lines (the Maratha wars exploited differences between the Marathas...)
NB: considering the complexity of this, I am sure I am also correct only to a point...

Partition had to happen as Muslim leaders thought it will be a good idea to get an islamic country for themselves. I understand the fears of being a minority in a newly independent country but they didn't take care of their own minorities. It was feuled by the western interest of having a favourable base in the region near russi as India wasn't going provide that to USA.
Common people on both sides would love to be friends, i am Hindu from Himalayan region of India and i have more common with Pakistan than rest of the India, our dialects and accent is similar to people from hills of Pakistan. To answer Rick's question, the irony is British United India, earlier there was a large Mughal empire and there were other regional kingdom, including the Sikhs, rajput the Marathas who were fighting amongst themselves. British used the infighting to their advantage helping one over the other till they annexed the entire subcontinent. The national movement started against the outside Britishers and our freedom fighters used not just native outsiders sentiment to unite people but also did so on the basis of religion and seeing Hindu Muslim unity, Britishers started the policy of appeasing religion trying to placate one community, this sowed the seeds of fragmentation. Which was further exploited by politicians with religious bias. By the time of independence it was not just fight against British for United India, but also a sentiment that muslim can't stay with a majority Hindus and they needed a seperate country . This was led by Muslim league. As independence approached and it was imminent that British would leave , the Muslim league massacred Hindus in majority muslim location which led to civil war with Hindus being targeted in Muslim majority neighborhood and vice versa and finally the Indian National Congress had to acceed to the idea of partition which led to countless displacement and death, Gandhi was assassinated because a lot of people blamed him responsible for partition and agreeing to it. It's a sad history, you need to look at it dispassionately while analysing every decision made by people in power. Putting their interest over that of people.

Neither Blocking nor ignorance is gonna change the reality or history KOrbin. No matter what, for me my country is my first priority bcoz as a soul citizen of it'we know our history, our present & our future very much..everything is fine unless someone is sending terrorists into my nation..we can never be as modest as u ppl for not thanking the very politicians & army who are ensuring our security, which we won't be able to make u understand if u r just gonna be u know....
These are some of the 'COMMENTS' which will make u understand the reality of the partition, about the oversimplification of the video & about u being a little naive..READ::
1.Korbin: Vox is amazing making these kind of videos ..Yeah they amazing made one of India's and the world's greatest leader look like a dictator. They also amazingly ignored how the Pakistani army and Government promote terrorism and how much the Pakistani public is protesting against them.Rick has been absolutely amazing in understanding & using the term 'Oversimplification'.Thank u Rick..& I wish Korbin doesn't block me & leave this comment to be so that u can get the proper information.
2."Korbin: Vox does a fantastic job. " Haha, yeah like NYTimes does, very convenient for American interests.Korbin lives in a country where any one can buy a gun from the store.... Sees replica key chains -- "that's terrible" rip logic
3.One day we have peace talks and hug it out, the next day they send terrorists to kill our soldiers in their sleep. And the video says that our politicians thrive on the tension?
really..we r the one just enduring it since decades for apparently no reason just to maintain peace.
4.I did not expect much from Californians, they had to seek information from a left-leaning news agency which will attempt to confuse people on who the enemy is. The good thing is most Indians in this generation are very clear that the enemy is Pakistan and not our leadership. Also no need for distinguishing between the people and the government because the government/leaders are chosen by the people so the people have no right to complain.
5.Do you know that there is a military indoctrination(Actually & Literally) of Pakistan where they have written," We can't defeat India in a direct fight but we will bleed India by thousand cuts". That's the real problem. Military controlled country of Pakistan wants
6.Proxy war because of their hatred towards India. Also, a country which trained Islamic Jihadis as per the instructions of US agencies like CIA in return for military and financial aid.
West doesn't want India to rise and because of this belief, they want a destabilised India. That's the problem. West indulge in dirty tricks. India never ever invaded and attacked any country in the world. But western countries always trying to create chaos out of situations.
6.India and Pakistan are two separate nations because the British seeded the idea of the "2 Nation Theory" in minds of Islamic separatists pre-independence. And the separatists bought it. The Muslims in Pakistan and what is now Bangladesh, for the most part, believe that the Muslim people are a different nation and that they could never co-exist with the Hindus. Whereas, even though India has a Hindu majority, she remained officially secular and inclusive of all people-kind. The partition of India in 1947 lead to the largest (forced) migration of all human history.
7.This stark contrast in foundational ideology has manifested in a dire and unfortunate manner: This is the same reason why Pakistan and Bangladesh started out with a significant ~20% Hindu population during partition, and today, the number is a dwindling 1-2%. Minorities (Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, even Shi'a Muslims, Ahmadiyyas and Wahabis) are persecuted extensively (killed, abducted and forcefully converted etc.) in Pakistan. India has her share of issues, but almost always, Indian Muslims (and other minorities) are thriving and have way more religious freedom as compared to Pakistani Muslims.
8.Pakistanis crave for the confirmation that the 2-nation theory was right. India always knew that it was wrong and utterly stupid: All people get along well and participate in each others' lives in India. There are more Muslims living in India today, than in either Pakistan or Bangladesh. Besides, the 2-nation theory failed in 1971 when India militarily liberated and officially created Bangladesh (the 3rd country). Additionally, the places of worship of Indian minorities are protected by law and it isn't uncommon to see the places of worship of many different faiths established in each others' vicinity. On the other hand, ancient Hindu temples and other sacred non-Muslim places in Pakistan are in horrible conditions and non-Muslims are basically second-class citizens (they can't run for office, subjugated by their blasphemy laws, actively considered Kaffirs i.e., non-believers etc.)
If you are only blaming the political system, then you definitely need to learn more in life. The video was actually good in showing the reality but it did not show why and what led to the events that changed the history. Also using Modi's comment from his speech without explaining the actual context was a smart way to portray him in a slightly negative way.The video just scratches the surface without leaving any mark. Would have been nice if it would have touched upon - Two Nation Theory, Separate Electorates and various movements in history or the reasons behind the Indo Pak wars after independence.
9.The Great Game between the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union is also one of the reason why India was partitioned into two.The British felt that the Islamic Pakistan would prove a faithful friend to the West and a bulwark between the Soviet Union and a socialist India. And this is the same reason why even the US supported Pakistan for so long.Excerpt from Peter Hopkirk's book: The Great Game:'The Great Game was played between the Russian Empire and Victorian UK for supremacy in Central Asia. At stake was the preservation of India, key to the wealth of the British Empire. When play began early in the 19th century, the frontiers of the two imperial powers lay two thousand miles apart, across vast deserts and almost impassable mountain ranges; by the end, only 20 miles separated the two rivals'

I completely agree with every single fact she has written.
India is not the one who would attack first. We believe in peace, always.
She has already said everything what i would have written and would like to add that, it's not our Prime Minister Mr. Modi, who wants to spread hatred, it's Pakistan. As they attacked our soldiers in Balakot and killed them for no reason, they attacked in URI and killed our soldiers when they were asleep, which according to any law is not acceptable. They have planned bomb attacks in India and bleeded it multiple times including the attacks of 26/11 just like that of 9/11.
And there's lot more to say but i will conclude by saying that its just that after Mr. Modi we have learned to retaliate and we will, forever now, only retaliate and not attack, like pakistani's.
And that's what our Prime Minister said in the video which Vox misrepresented as a matter of fact.

Rick used the right word "oversimplification".He oversimplified the most complicated issues that have developed around 60 years. He tried to show that politicians spread hatred...... Not all politicians spread hatred.... Some say what they say because of the events that have unfolded in the past. The video shows that people on both sides of the border are just the same.... Well there some differences, cultural difference, societal differences. Such complicated issues cannot be explained in a 15 minute video, yes it would take a lot of time.

The Kartarpur Corridor was inaugurated yesterday on Guru Nanak's 550th birthday. It will help around 5000 pilgrims from India to go to Kartarpur daily. It was a joint effort from the governments of both the countries.
P.S: Please react to a video about Narendra Modi, India's current Prime Minister and one of the greatest yet. He's a great man. All I'll say is he is the opposite of Trump

I'll never be able to forgive the British for what they did to our land and people.
Also they're using a wrong map of India

As a British Pakistani I really don't understand what the need for partition was in the first place. I just want both sides to be at peace with eachother again.

My maternal great grandfather and grand mother were a part of Indian Independence movement, from the Bengal region. My family has to forcefully migrate to West Bengal after partition of Bengal because of being Hindus, leaving behind acres of land and ancestral home in East Bengal (later on East Pakistan, now Bangladesh). I am first generation Indian. Interestingly later on my father, when he was just a teenager, escaped from West Pakistan in disguise to India (as Hindus were being beheaded by the Pakistani force) and joined the Indian army (Mukti Bahini) fighting for liberation of Bangladesh (his motherland). My family had to bear the tag of refugee for so long as an aftermath of Partition. I have many such stories and first hand accounts that I heard from my family which someday I would love to share. Colonialism had both it's pros and cons...but the aftermath was the worst, which is still creating so much issues.

The Reason for divison was that muslim people were afraid that they won't be treated equally in hindu majoriy country....and this thought was put into Jinnah's (muslim leader) mind by the britishers only.
so he said he want to be the PM of the country, but Nehru (congress leader) didn't accepted his proposal so he agreed on divison idea ,only to become the Prime Minister.
