@@supradeepreddyalamuru4798 Ganga is not Shiva's wife. He just caught him in his hair. Recently I got this clarification from learned scholars on TTD SVBC TV.
The Manusmriti is responsible for the caste system which is followed today in India. It was one of the first Sanskrit texts to have been translated into English in 1794, by Sir William Jones, and was used to formulate the Hindu law by the British colonial government. Modern scholarship states this presumed authenticity is false, and the various manuscripts of Manusmriti discovered in India are inconsistent with each other, and within themselves, raising concerns of its authenticity, insertions and interpolations made into the text in later times. Many believe that the Manusmriti was in favour of the British Strategy to Divide and Conquer India.
Sahil Joshi If it is so (concerns of its authenticity, insertions and interpolations made into the text in later times), then why don't we assume that the same (insertions and interpolations) were incorporated in Sir William Jones' translation? Well, all this debate takes us away from the core issue or actual problem, "untochability" in whose name Social discrimination & domination is being practiced. It is inhuman to subject a part of the society (people) to practices like carrying human waste (sh*t) on their heads. As a matter of fact (as a normal human) I wouldn't want to shake hands with him or sit with him for a meal, though I may not express my feelings openly. Not withstanding that, it is inhuman all the same. Then why not this society devise ways & means to mitigate their insufferable situation & help them out? Instead the society heaps on their heads more abuses, more dicrimanant treatment & all that. Some sections revel in that & it becomes societal practice. There is no way out for them. Can't we emulate the west (modern plumbing & waste disposal, instead of being indifferent) & improve their lot, to enable them into the mainstream that ushers in real equality? Yet, Indifference is monumental. You know what is the (humongous) societal cost? "work is worship" is an empty slogan, if not hypocritical. There shall be no discrimination in the kind of Work, any work. When work oriented society devices norms of work, to quantify it (a la, Frank Bunker Gilbreth, pioneer of time and motion study), that society progresses. We have examples of it in the West. It is the principal logjam Indian society faces. In India (you may fault me for that) work is something that the other fellow does (not me).
The reason that Hinduism and Islam clash is because Hinduism believes in an open framework where you can believe anything you need to achieve moksha. Islam mandates you have to believe a certain set of things with zero leeway. These things cannot exist together unless someone gives
Ofcourse because Hinduism is not just a religion but a philosophy while are other religions are prophets... And the unique thing about philosophy is that it's a never ending thing where it's suppose to grow and develop.... Hinduism sticking to its main morals has developed with time which is the beauty of it ... And the soul of Hinduism lies in the fact that it allows u to question it... And the questions can be justified by the philosophy of Hinduism itself ...
1. The movie is the Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama. Its a good movie, you should definitely check it out. 2. The Engineers, doctors thing is just parents being parents. Sort of Asian thing I guess. Dharma is basically if I have to say in very simple terms- fulfilling your responsibilities. No one forces you to, its your own path. 3. The castes in its essence were a very good system of categorizing skills and roles. But as with everything left to humans over hundreds of years, there is degeneration and misuse.Sadly its the only thing most Westerners would know about of this great religion. 4. The best thing is its non imposing. There is no one god, nor one book to follow. You are free to choose ideas, concepts, your own path from the plethora which exist. You aren't branded as heretics. There are even Atheist Hindus. Its an ever evolving foundation stone of this massive civilization that continues to exist until today.
26:27 - Except, None of the major Hindu warriors attacked any other country of that time, for the sake of spreading religion! Thats the major difference.
Absolutely. Hinduism has never been a religion of conquest. Also, the Srimad Bhagavat Gita is actually a part of the Mahabharata. It is actually Lord Krishna's advice to Arjuna about following his Dharma on day 1 of the 18 day Mahabharata War. In this case, it was to fight the war, even though he was fighting against his cousins and uncles and also knowing that he would kill quite a few of them in battle.
Dharma is contextual. In general, Dharma in casual conversation means 'religion' as in Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, etc. Within Hinduism, Dharma means a person's moral duty, responsibility, obligation being in different roles like husband/wife, son/daughter, king/soldier, etc. Karma, which means action, is measured against Dharma. And the person faces consequences of these actions based on that.
Sadly, sensibility is in short supply on the internet :) Remember people, it is okay to have an opinion, and share it. Just do not expect everyone or even just a few people to share your opinion. That is what makes humanity great - our diverse views. If everyone thought and acted the same way, the world would be either boring or burning.
@FatPaws I completely second your sentiments. We should be willing to entertain ideas without necessarily accepting them. First of all understand, the only reason why Hinduism is still alive and it is the only ancient civilizations, is because of the cast system given by Paramashiva himself. I can even site gita where Krihsna talk about it. But, it's very important to understand, that there are 2 things here which are both mentioned in the scriptures. One is Jati, and it's by birth, which can't be changed, but there also is Varna, which is decided by the quality of the person, and amount of responsibility he is willing to take for the society. For example, who is ready to take responsibility for the education of the nation are Brahmanas, who take responsibility for administration of the nation, are Kshatriyas, who take responsibility for wealth of society, are Vaishyas, and who can only give their time, are Shudras. "Then let me tell you what you and Mr. Darwin don't know. Listen carefully- The first avatar was the Matsya avatar, it means the fish. That is because life began in the water. Is that not right?" Vasu began to listen with a little more attention. "Then came the Kurma Avatar, which means the tortoise, because life moved from the water to the land. The amphibian. So the Tortoise denoted the evolution from sea to land. Third was the Varaha, the wild boar, which meant the wild animals with not much intellect, you call them the Dinosaurs, correct? " Vasu nodded wide eyed. "The fourth avatar was the Narasimha avatar, half man and half animal, the evolution from wild animals to intelligent beings. Fifth the Waman avatar, the midget or dwarf, who could grow really tall. Do you know why that is? Cause there were two kinds of humans, Homo Erectus and the Homo Sapiens and Homo Sapiens won that battle." Vasu could see that his Mother was in full flow and he was stupefied. "The Sixth avatar was Parshuram, the man who wielded the axe, the man who was a cave and forest dweller. Angry, and not social. The seventh avatar was Ram, the first thinking social being, who laid out the laws of society and the basis of all relationships. The Eighth avatar was Balarama, a true farmer showed value of agriculture in the life The Ninth avatar was Krishna, the statesman, the politician, the lover who played the game of society and taught how to live and thrive in the social structure. And finally, my boy, will come Kalki, the man you are working on. The man who will be genetically supreme." Vasu looked at his Mother speechless. "This is amazing Mom, how did you.. In the example, atman is a drop from the ocean while Brahman is the ocean itself. Another way to look at it is that Atman is the air inside a clay pot while Brahman is the air outside. Once the clay pot breaks, there is no differentiation between them. Realizing this for yourself is the final barrier to moksha. 2. Another important principle that they missed is that ALL beings have atman and emerges from Brahman. Hinduism recognizes the oneness of all beings. This is why ahimsa /non-violence to all life is very important because when you engage in violence, you are being violent to yourself (in a way ) and also to Brahman. 3. Both Atman and Brahman are essentially pure consciousness. Essentially Hinduism states that the only God is pure consciousness and everything exists because of it. 4. You can imagine Atman to be a flashlight that illumines everything that comes in front of it. If the light from the flashlight is not coloured by anything kept in front of it, you see things as they are. This is how enlightened beings see things 5. However, due to a variety of reasons that I wont go into, for everyone else, the light from the flashlight is coloured by ego and conditioning. You can imagine this as different coloured glass kept in front of the flashlight. Due to this colouring, we then start seeing the world imperfectly as we dont see the pure light from the flashlight, but the coloured light due to the glass kept in front of it. 5. The way to moksha is to first recognise that your view is coloured and then slowly removing the layers of coloured glass in front of Atman. There are many ways/paths to achieve this. 6. Brahman has 2 aspects/attributes to it: Purusha/Shiva (inert) and Prakriti/Shakti (Creation). Essentially these are 2 sides of the same coin. Just like we cant think of fire without thinking of its heat, we cannot think of one of these aspects without the other. When Shakti is active, the universe comes into fruition and when it is not, it goes into dissolution. 7. All of the gods in Hinduism embody certain aspects of Brahman and their imagery is steeped in symbolism. Unless we understand the background I mentioned above, the symbolism will be lost on you and the imagery will seem meaningless. For e.g, as you mentioned in your video, Hinduism sees the world as maya (unreal). The third eye of Shiva is actually the ajna chakra, which is a nerve center in the human body. When that nerve center is activated (not going into how), the veil of maya is lifted and you see the world as it is. So in essence, Shiva opening the third eye is representing Shiva activating the ajna chakra and destroying the world as you know it and seeing the world as it is. (see point 5 above) 8. The Gods Shiva and Parvati represent the 2 aspects of Brahman (inert and creation mentioned in point 6 above). Their children, Ganesha and Kartikeya, represent the path to how creation happens. Kartikeya represents Ego (if you know the backstory of how he is. His vehicle is a peacock, the arguably the most vain bird around :) ) and Ganesha represents Intelligence (ie the remover of obstacles. His vehicle is a rat, which can gnaw its way through any net). 9. There was a time when this symbolism was popular knowledge and everyone instantly understood what it stood for. Now all that remains is the imagery, without any understanding of the symbolism.

As a 25 year old Indian girl the explanation below is from my personal experience and of those i see around me. To your question Rick at time 21:50, the reason that parents put so much pressure on kids especially in their career and marriage is very simple. In the 21st Century the career of a person is basically about status/pride and money (based on the financial ability of the parents) Its not really about the Dharma or the castes. The richer the parents are, the more they push the child towards a career that they deem respectable and profitable (And also to brag to their friends that their child is a doctor or an engineer etc. ) Another thing to note about India/Hinduism is that there are not just 4 castes anymore. There are more castes than i even care to count. When its about marriage, People get into a mindset of "us vs. others". So its like "you should marry one of "our" people. There are soooooo many traditions. Almost every family follows a different tradition. So ppl like to keep the traditions within themselves and maintain them rather than mix with "the others". Sometimes with old fashioned people with outdated mindsets, an intercaste marriage is considered a disgrace for the parents and the relatives. And since arranged marriages are the norm in india, if a person is marrying for love from another caste, the parents just say "Think about your sister!! Who will marry her if you marry like this" (I think that's just bloody nonsense)
Some corrections 1) Hindu is a Geographical identity not religious, "H" comes from Himalayas and "INDU" comes from "Indian ocean" or "Indu sagar" and the people living in between them are HINDUS regardless of any other identities they have taken. 2) HINDUISM is not a word in INDIAN dictionary but WESTERN ... "ISM" came to INDIA after the competition of religions started on EARTH. 3) HINDUS always "seek" for "mokahsa" ... they dont have belief systems... No clergy or popes or Imams or a Single Belief system. Even in a family every single person has his/her own deities (not GODS) that they each follow separately. The Kind of seeking one wants, that kind of Deity he follows. That is why so many Deities . 4) The core difference between any religion and Hindus is that every religion has a belief system and some structured beliefs about something that they don't "know" about but believe about. But Hindus never believe in THE GOD, They know that there is no way anybody can know about those things. So they only admit that they dont know and they start to seek because believing gives Unclear Confidence but knowing that you don't know awakens your intelligence to seek everything. 5) Please let us not presume or judge. One may not know but at least be open to know and try to know. BTW i am a big fan Many thing i can't explain here but know that VEDAS are not Beliefs or Guidelines to follow by GOD. They are just ANCIENT KNOWLEDGE BANK in plain and simple language. Calling HINDU a religion is like calling an Eagle a snail. One more Thing : For HINDUS , Dharma = LAW of Nature , Dharma not equal to Religion. SANATAN DHARMA = ETERNAL LAW of nature, Pitri Dharma = Father's Law of nature, Matri Dharma = Mother's and so on.
Hinduism Is A Way Of Living Life (Even As Per Supreme Court) You Can Follow Ideas, Culture And Beliefs As Per Your Own Wish. You Can Pray Your Own God. Mainly Beliefs Remain The Same.💯♾️
Hindu is not a RELIGION it is a way of life, a culture. Hindu follow Sanatana DHARMA means eternal balance of everything. Till Dharma is wrongly termed as Religion one can not come close to understand it. Religious thinking pattern will confuse.
as said in the durga chalisa *"satiyug treta dwapar madhye kaliyug raaj sawaya"* the correct order of the yugas is - 1) *Sati* (everybody's soul is pure and there's so deceit) 2) *treta* (still, the time was good. and everybody was honest with each other, this is the yug lord Ram was born.....after lord Ram took samadhi in saryu river, dwapar yug started) 3) *dwapar* (lord Krishna's birth marks the beginning of this yug, he was the 8th reincarnation of lord Vishnu and thing were great till his childhood {so was lord ram, but 7th}....during the battle of Mahabharata there was a widespread deciet and greed which lead to battle of Mahabharata. this war marks the beginning of kalyug or kaliyug) 4) *kali* (present day yug, everybody is full of greed, people are killing each other, there's theft everywhere, deceit.....everybody is moneyminded. basically, the worst yug where people are detaching from god and his message of living in harmony with mother earth and its being and failing to save God's mother earth and its beings. coz we are driven by greed, lust, violence etc.)

Sahil Joshi
If it is so (concerns of its authenticity, insertions and interpolations made into the text in later times), then why don't we assume that the same (insertions and interpolations) were incorporated in Sir William Jones' translation?
Dear It's not caste system..its "Gotra" which belongs to lineage of a certain Sage ..its important to keep it for spiritual reasons

So don't feel ashamed of Hinduism, just study it properly from someone, who is interested is reviving authentic Hinduism, like Bhagavan Shri Nithyananda Paramashivam. Don't get brainwashed by any ani Hindu mafia, or neo hindutva traitors.. ❤️

what you guys discussed towards the end of the video is absolutely correct about religions.
That was a really good video 👍🏽Really distilled Hinduism well. Bravo to the animator 👏🏽 You can learn a lot about Hinduism by learning what it doesn’t teach. It doesn’t teach that one god or one religion is better than others.

The biggest difference between any other religion and hinduism is that hinduism teaches you not to have greed while other religions thrive on the idea of heaven which is basically greed
Just so u know, "Buddha" is considered the 9th Avatar of "Vishnu", 10th being Kalki (the awaited one)
Yeah but Buddhists don't consider that. Siddhartha Gautama is considered to be the 9th Avatar of Vishnu. Kalki would be his last.
And Rick 'Buddhism' & 'Jainism' has emerged from original Hinduism, that's why they are very very similar
Even Sikhism as well

Hindus don't have thousands of devtas, we have 36 'koti' devtas. Now word 'koti' has two meanings, koti means 'crore' but here meaning of koti is 'types'. We have 33 types of devtas, they are 8-Vasu, 11-Rudra, and 12-Aaditya, 1-Indra and 1-Prajaapati. GOD is only one. Param-Bhram
Koti can mean 'crore' not 'thousands'

Rick is right. We expect our generations to follow the professions of their caste. I was told that I was a Brahmin and should not get into business but pursue knowledge-driven professions. But things are changing.
This happens when you put a western template of religion over Hinduism. It's like asking a practicing Hindu Indian explain Christianity. Steriotyoing is difficult to get rid of.
Hinduism and Atheism... Hinduism encourages ATHEISM....
It doesn't encourage 😂 but it won't force you to believe, you have many ways to pursue enlightenment.
It's Nastik-waad ,not atheism. atheism is christian concept
@@hansjaru Nastik waad is just the translation of atheism. An atheist would neither believe in God nor follow the practices the theists follow. In Bharat disbelievers in God were called charvaks and they didn't drop the usual practices we follow except worships.

And we also have choice of worshipping either by an idol or formless. And the word god doesn't comes even close to the word Bhagavan. Ans there is lot more difference between atheism and nastikawaad. And I read puranas and other scriptures on daily basis and most of those books are filled with questions and enquiries by our ancestors, and ALWAYS IN EVERY BOOK there will be chapters on science on how universe is classified from a small molecule and beyond our today's English science. And seriously those make more sense while reading.
And finally the best example is "chinmayanada swami " google about him, he was an firm atheist than today's, and when he went to tiruvannamalai in Tamil nadu, he went to Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi and then you'll understand how his presence changed him, it's a really intense meet in history you have to check that out.

Again. Historically and “Technically”, you should be able to interchange India and Hindu, cause it’s the same thing.
Obviously now the Indian culture has evolved and incorporated many things from many of the settlers and rulers India has had through history.
And honestly, it seems that because there was someone else to compare to, “hindus” or the people living on the lands across the Sindhu river, started adopting certain strict idea and practices. Almost like, well I’d they say they can’t do this, then it’s against our religion to do this and that now too.
Even the British try to set some rules, because everyone was just too fluid and they couldn’t understand how to categorise people. You know, the whole strategy to divide and rule.

A Muslim or Christian who have been part of Indian society largely imbibes the Indian (Hindu) way of life. And there are lots of Christian and Muslim families that exemplifies the values espoused by the Hinduism, than hell of a lot of Indians who thinks Hinduism is a "Religion" like Islam and Christianity. The former is more "Hindus" than the latter group.
Rick is more correct on this matter; at the core of that urge is the Indian society's feeling that ones offspring leads a constructive useful life (do ones Dharma). And definitely not picked up from silly parenting guide!

#Evolution & 10 Avatar's
"Mom, I am a genetic scientist. I am working in the US on the evolution of man. Theory of evolution, Charles Darwin, have you heard of him? " Vasu asked.
His Mother sat down next to him and smiled, "I know about Darwin, Vasu. "But Have you heard of Dashavatar? The ten avatars of Vishnu?"
Vasu replied in no.
"Then let me tell you what you and Mr. Darwin don't know.
Listen carefully-
The first avatar was the Matsya avatar, it means the fish.
The Eighth avatar was Balarama, a true farmer showed value of agriculture in the life
The Ninth avatar was Krishna, the statesman, the politician, the lover who played the game of society and taught how to live and thrive in the social structure.
And finally, my boy, will come Kalki, the man you are working on. The man who will be genetically supreme."
Vasu looked at his Mother speechless. "This is amazing Mom, how did you.. This makes sense!"
"Yes it does Vasu! We Indians knew some amazing things just didnt know how to pass it on scientifically. So made them into mythological stories. Mythology makes sense. Its just the way you look at it - Religious or Scientific. Your call.

Thank you for taking the time to do this video. I am happy to see that they got most of the details right. There are a few details that are more nuanced and which even most Hindus are not aware of. I would like to help clarify a few of the missing details.
1. Atman is the same as Brahman, except that it is individualized.
This is how enlightened beings see things
(see point 5 above)
"Do the good things in your life and leave all the others liabilities to the almighty what he thinks about it and gave that person the appropriate results" it is the basic philosophy of the hinduism comprising of its all the texts and deties ,which we as hindus followed in our daily life....Simple
Keep going Stupid Guys we r with u always.....Love and respect from a Bhartiya and a proud hindu 🇮🇳🙏♥️

@Suresh M yes!!!
It's actually not Hinduism, it's Sanatana...
The richer the parents are, the more they push the child towards a career that they deem respectable and profitable (And also to brag to their friends that their child is a doctor or an engineer etc. )
Another thing to note about India/Hinduism is that there are not just 4 castes anymore.
The legends of prince rama is an animated movie made in 1994 and it is the collaboration of indian and japanese studios. A must watch
The Caste System is believed to have greater effect after the British further enhanced it to divide and rule India.
Some corrections
1) Hindu is a Geographical identity not religious, "H" comes from Himalayas and "INDU" comes from "Indian ocean" or "Indu sagar" and the people living in between them are HINDUS regardless of any other identities they have taken.
