When they’re in cages they feel safe. My buns are in cages outdoors. They all got out one night and I was horrified the next morning to come out and see my rabbit hutch cage door open. Mama and one kitten were still in together but 6young ones had gotten out. They all ran to me because they were so afraid. Yesterday the cage door was still open for a few minutes so I could finish some work but I walked away because I got distracted, I came back an hour or so later to realize that I’d left the cage door open and all of the buns were glued to the back corner huddled on top of each other because they didn’t want to ever leave the safety of their cage again. They love freedom but only if it’s introduced the right way, otherwise they are content because they don’t know anything else. Luckily I have a fenced in yard so they didn’t get out. I wish my cage doors had an alarm on them like my refrigerator door does.
@@biddibee3526 Please, do you really want to argue against nature? Of course, they CAN feel afraid if they are only used to cages, but that´s the humans' fault. Don´t make statistics based on your experience (not based on bunny biology), and advise the public on such things. For every animal is best to have space to roam free and a house. And the job of a pet parent is to make both happen in a save way.
@@biddibee3526 That's because rabbits don't do well outside and get scared by wild animals. House rabbits don't do that very often.

Rabbits should be kept inside in a rabbit-proofed home or an indoor-enclosure or room at the very least. Never in cages.
They can get supervised time outside in a leash and harness or in a pen (and if it safe to do so: they're vaccinated, the yard is free from herbicides, etc.)
I love the way she flips over on the sofa, she's so funny and has a very sweet personality! I didn't know they were like little puppies...you saved her from a sad and lonely life.
I don't think a lot of people realize how wonderful rabbits really are as pets...and that they do better in a home where they are treated like family and not kept in a small cage all day...
They don't live long so people should understand that. Personally I don't want to go through that so avoid pets with a short lifespan.
We release our girl rabbit in the morning but she goes into her cage and stays there all the rest of the day. She is very content, happy and extremely affectionate with us and we have had her for already over 6 years.

I had a bunny named Mary Jane and a kitty named Fiona and they were BEST friends. Whenever we couldn’t find Fiona around the house, she’d almost always be discovered napping with MJ in her cage. 😂

Her flopping on her side is 🥰. I love to see a rabbit walking around free, they stay happy and much healthier. My bunny I got as a teenager at six weeks old had a similar life and lived ‘till the ripe old age of 13.

I totally agree - rabits are the most adorable little ones. I’ve been so blessed with 3 beautiful rabbits in all for years while living in a huge 350 sq appartment and none of them were ever in a cage - I brought them with me everywhere - incl to my parents garden where they were totally allowed to roam free. They all snuggled up to me all the time and they would snap my telephone cord if I were not paying attention to them and stop talking on the phone ( some 40 yrs ago)

How lovely.. rabbits are one of the most neglected pets. People don't realise how much space and attention they need. I know a lady who runs a local rabbit and guinea pig rescue from her garden, her set up is amazing but she's self funded through fundraising and constantly overwhelmed with more and more abandoned bunnies, vet bills, food etc.. the stress is real for her ❤

house rabbits are great! ours are litterbox trained of course. you'll want to rabbit-proof your house if you've not done so already as they will chew just about anything.
I was amazed at finding out just how clever rabbits are and i felt abit arrogant after for assuming such. My daughters got a huge on and it blew my socks off seeing them playing fetch im not lying fetch for over 10 minutes and the effection is so heart warming i love animals even more. ❤

People tend to think that some species don't have personalities. I've had all kinds of animals (cats, dogs, rabbits, lizards, fish, etc.) and, believe me, animals from every species have personalities.
The last rabbit I had was so sassy - we also had a blue-eyed, white, rescue cat who was deaf, and a Rhodesian Ridgeback dog at the same time, but our little bunny ruled the roost.
Although I have had rabbits before, the day she passed away I told my husband to break up her hutch, because I knew that I would not get another. She left her little paw prints on my heart, and I knew I would never find another like her - like Maple, Roz was not a planned purchase, but I laid eyes on her and something clicked - I just had to have her!
So, no matter what anyone says, yes! animals DO have personalities, and if you spend quality time with them, they soon show it, xxx

Maple is a rex, isn't she? I had a rex for a 4H animal when i was a kid. Their fur is so soft and Maple's is so beautifully colored!!

I accidentally became addicted to rabbits when our neighbours' rabbit got loose and we caught him. He was so adorable, and so I became a regular foster parent to rabbits after that xD
That's a breed called rex , they have a very soft coat velvet like. They are curious, affectionately, naughty. Like you see here in the video. I used to have a rex years ago.

Damn, I had an indoor bunny and she would literally chew on anything! Plants, skirting boards, wooden closets, books, cables.. She would also run in circles around me while shooting out poops and she would piss on our couch. Why couldn’t she be like this one??
I had a rabbit years ago. Rusty. He was a sweety but I became allergic to his bedding and couldn’t breathe same with my Guinea pig. So I found a family who had both as pets and they both liked the lady’s son so I knew it was a great match. I still deeply miss Rusty and Piggers the Guinea pig. We have wild rabbits on occasion and they all look like my Rusty. He got along well with my cat and dog at the time.

I had a similar experience with my bun. Never thought I wanted a rabbit until I found my girl in the back of a dark barn not being fed properly. Eventually one day it got so hot that I knew she would die if someone didn’t take her. And no one was so I took her. She’s no where near as affectionate with me, she dose come up for pets but no snuggles. She prefers to sleep on her own. I’m not sure if she would benefit from another rabbit, I’ve always gotten the feeling she wouldn’t but it might not be a bad idea to introduce her to some rabbits.
