Rabbits are only pregnant for 28-31 days, so she was newly pregnant when you rescued her. Also, it's assumed (since there are no other babies) that at least the one male is neutered. It appears Honeybun is well-bonded with her babies and it's so sweet you have decided to keep them all. Rabbits as pets can be very enjoyable. :)

In truth, it is almost impossible to tell if they are pregnant. I used to raise rabbits and even the day before birth, I couldn't feel any babies. Some people can tell at about 10 days (30-32 day gestation). They say they feel like marbles in the horns of the uterus. I could never feel them. Even then you'd have to know when she actually mated. Which this person had no way to know.

3.5 weeks is basically the whole gestation for most rabbit breeds. Unless owner dumped her right after watching them mate, she probably hooked up with a wild rabbit.

I was planning on finding her a good home but couldnt find anyone.. in the end it was too late.. i already loved her too much and just thinking of giving her away made me cry. So we build her a huge bunny area outside and went to the shelter to adopt another abandoned bunny so they both can live the good life with digging and running and jumping..just having fun. ❤ bunnies are awesome.

Females have an incredibly high rate of reproductive cancer so even though it's more expensive, it's best to spay the girls if you want them to live longer than a few years and save yourself those vet bills as they get older.
      From a veterinary site:
      "How common is it, really?
There is very good evidence to suggest that it is the most common tumour of female rabbits - roughly 60% of entire female rabbits aged over 3 years will have a tumour growing in their uterus, and by the time they reach 6 years, this may be as high as 80%. Essentially, the evidence suggests that pretty much every female rabbit will develop uterine cancer if they live long enough."

What a terrible thing to do, splitting up a couple and dumping the pregnant mama outside. Thanks for being the ones to find and save these bunnies, and how great that you include her in life and understand her.💕🐇☮️

You do realize that you’re talking about rabbits? They don’t mate for life. They are also wild animals that somehow have managed to live for thousands of years in the wild without humans doing anything. Even pet bunnies turned loose can thrive in the wild because they are wild animals. And can also care for litters of babies without help from people.

@@imissnj2 You are replying to that lady as if she is dumb. Why? You are not the authority on rabbits. For your information, some rabbits DO form a bond that when broken can create depression in a rabbit, I have seen it with my own eyes, not every animal goes by a strict set of rules of patterns and behaviours just like a human being does not. We all have our variations. Also, some rabbits are not great mothers...just like humans so please understand that you dont know everything and treat people with respect!

You are so kind to keep her and her babies .I found two bunnies under a car in our condo parking lot over one year ago .I was able to catch one of them with the intention of finding a rescue here in Florida for him .He is a lion head rabbit no one could take him , all shelters were full , so we are stuck with him and him with us.We named him Petey .
