I'm just imagining in 20 years when Baumgartner Restoration gets a hold of this painting. "The previous conservator made the editorial decision to paint kraken tentacles on this seascape."
OMG YESSS
Lolol he’d have an aneurysm
What's Baumgartener?
I got this and the latest restoration video right next to each other on my recommended.
I could literally feel the despair.
@@whyparkjiminnotridejimin It's called Baumgartener's Restorations. He an art conservator and he's like ASMR of art restoration. He only uploads about once a fortnight but he has a huge following. He takes you through the entire conservation process and it's riveting. The best part is when he takes off the old glaze or something a past, shoddy conservator has painted over it to "fix" a loss of paint, and you see the real painting underneath, how it was meant to be seen. Try watching some. It's fascinating.
Can you please track down your old art teacher and I would love to see them critique your artwork now.
I second this
@@slonismo I third this
Yes. The art teacher would find it impossible to critique his work
It would certainly make for an interesting video

Just retired and was told to keep my “mind” busy, so I’ve taken a couple panting/craft/art classes. The next time they say, “bring a canvas to work on,” I am DEFINITELY going to do this this type of painting/craft/art. Thank you for the great suggestion and lesson. :-)
Would LOVE to see how those turned out, you should totally link them here 8D
That dragon one is a pretty seamless fit. I would never guess it was done by a different artist if I hadn't seen the before and after.

Imagine if one of these paintings turned out to be some long lost art by a famous artist. 😂
My friend's dad had a painting in his house by Thomas Eakins!
ikr
Or the painter becomes famous later on
in 100 or 200 years, it may be super valuable simply because it is a Jazza edit painting. You never know.
He wouldn't care about that.
Absolutely in love with the last painting. The dragon fits in so well with the scene, and the armour of the knight isn't so overwhelmingly out of place it's just absolutely fantastic. For someone who's comfort zone is cartoons I have to say the realism you put into this painting was honestly a bit surprising to me, but very refreshing and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the addition to the painting. 20/10 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’m crying...the last painting where you painted the dragon and the hero was the same print and frame my Grandmom had at her house above her sofa and I used to stare and dream about the beautiful scenery when I was a kid and you painting the dragon and adventurer made it that much more amazing! I wish I could have this! When my Grandmom passed away my sisters went to her house before I got there and threw the canvas in the trash I was heartbroken. Anyway great work! The transformations were amazing :)
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤That made me emotional.
That’s so sad! I wish they didn’t throw it away😢
You brought memories of my father passing away. And how I used to love his small collection of photos and paper clippings.
Bdw it was super inconsiderate of your sisters to throw that away. We normally let everyone decide what they want and then sort the rest out.

"yes Martha I know there's a kaiju, just keep picking flowers and ignore it and it'll go away. It's just acting out trying to get attention."

This.
This needs to be printed, put in a tiny frame and hung next to that Kaiju painting. 😆❤️
LMAO
I can feel the vibe from howl moving castle by studio Ghibli but this time with dinosaur
I did with this with a large print called "The Proposal" (one of those generic, sweet, semi-Edwardian things). Made it totally gothic, with maggots dripping from the young man's bouquet, a ghost at the piano, shadowy hands outside the window, the sidetable dissolving in tentacles....my children were enamored and would just sit and stare at it, lol. Something about making horror art out of pieces like this is just so satisfying.
Absolutely astounding, NEED to see it

I used to do this with pencil and textbook illustrations >:3
I don't think the people who got my textbooks after me would appreciate it though

This is actually a really smart exercise. It forces you to stick to a theme that you didn't create. Using a style you may not be comfortable with gives control over to the subject, so you don't have to process how to start. Like a writing prompt.
I like your attitude ... However I'm struggling with the idea of painting over another artists work haphazardly .
@@benjamindinunzio6094 it could be considered a collaborative piece. If that piece was going to be thrown away if it wasn’t bought then it’s better off then getting thrown out.

While they were horders to an extent a lot of their stuff I thought was special and I never got to make those choices. Knowing how happy and lively my grandparents were I kinda wish someone even 1 person (even if it they altered the artwork) if it brought them joy I’d be happy. I the idea of people seeing it all as trash kinda makes me sad.
Gareth doesn't get nearly enough love. Such an amazing cameraman and cinematographer. and I love just how into it he is. Whether or not Jazza is his favorite artist, he does a great job making you feel like he's just the cameraman for his favorite artist. Also just how he makes Jazza painting a painting feel so cinematic and keeps it so rich with visuals but in a way that captures you. Gah. Gareth, love you man.
The Dragon painting at the end was by far the best. Loved how seamlessly it all came together
Love Gareth behind the camera commentating and interacting with Jazza. They feed off each other and it's a good energy!
As a future art teacher I actually want to use this idea as a project not just monsters, but I would have my students edit thrift store paintings.
Please make sure they are prints or research the artist first before editing them.
@@emeraldg8667 oh definitely will do...
It’s a great exercise as a lot of artists get stuck in one style.
Along the same lines, you could give all the students the same background and see what they fill the gaps with and how well theyre able to fit the style. Like Jazza did with the last. I dunno this is probably what you were meaning in the first place
@@nathanfischer3551 no no this is helpful thank you for the advice man
XD I love how the camera man just comes off like an encoring parent with his overly excited child ready to paint over others paintings in this. I don't know if they was what Jazza intended, but it felt so much like that was what I was seeing at times.
His name is Gareth he's cool
They should make it a running gag whenever they go shopping 😂

Jazza-Ross: This picture needs a happy little monster. Because everyone needs a friend.
As someone who previously worked in a opshop/thrift shop we had to throw heaps of artwork away. Due to damage or children's artwork ect. And when we find good quality artworks alot of people only buy it for the frame and throw the art away when they get home. It's sad but to see jazza use the art for art is amazing.
Huh 🤔 yeah i do the same as well I must admit but at least maybe the artist got money from making it :)
Just reading through out the comment, i seen some worry about artist being unknown, and some feel scared and feel what Jazza did is disrespectful. I really curious what's in your mind to this whole things here, I'm so glad that you don't feel like he was disrespectful to you
Im totally going to buy some thrift art for the frames now 😃
@@alannah-3112 nope the artist doesn't make money when we sell it. It's donated. Half the time we can't find the artist after researching.
@@CrypticPara I always researched the artist to the best I can. From Facebook to google to Instagram if they have signed their work with their full name. Rather than donating them back to the store, maybe have an online auction for charity. Shipping to the winner comes out of their bid, the rest goes to whatever charity the store supports, or Jazza's favorite charity, or a charity aimed at supplying art supplies to poorer communities. I love this concept. Thrift stores get lots of paintings. Most are very outdated, mass produced pieces. If no one buys them, they eventually go in the trash. I mean what’s better? To landfill it, or repurpose it? As an artist, and someone who tries to be be eco friendly, I say repurpose.
As someone who has studied art, there’s no such thing as “outdated art” there is only art periods with each painting belonging to a certain era of art
