    I’ve had an 03 with only the egr deleted and an sct tuner on it for 7 years. Put about 70k on it the only thing I’ve done is 2 icp sensors- which only leaked it still ran fine, and a ficm . Absolutely love the truck it’s been as solid as the 7.3s I have. If it grenades it owes me nothing. Must have gotten a good one I guess

    Definitely good information my experience with 6.0s is the closer to stock the better when purchasing I find the 05 to 07 6.0s don't need headstuds if you get rid of the egr cooler soon enough as long as you run a mild tune they typically will last run a good full synthetic oil I personally run Schaffers 5w40 full synthetic keep up on the maintenance and they are amazing vehicles if you have time to sort there issues

      Yeah I have a 2008 Chevy 2500 6.0 and I want to get another truck don’t want another gasser I was to charge it up and 6.0 power strokes are pretty cheap most of the time you have some people thinking they are sitting on gold and it’s annoying lol.
      Nothing wrong with my Chevy I just don’t want to keep putting so many miles on it I’ve put about 18,000 on since I got it

    I got 1st diesel in 2004 to have the cummins but wish I'd just got a 6.0 hrand new instead of it. Dodge trucks are awful. So decided to take a chance 2010 to get a super duty for a good price, better truck.
    Now even in 2024 the 6.0 is only one I want. Lucky for us that do no one else does and we can get em cheap often!

    I have 3 of them, 05 king ranch, 06 xlt and a 06 f550 xl and have had no major problems, king ranch is deleted but not studded, xlt is studded and deleted with filtration kit. And xl is bone stock and has more miles than the other two lol. But I do all regular maintenance with amsoil and Cat engine coolant

    Also, if a 6.0 already has studs done, it depends how the head studs were done, it's not just the fact of having them done. It depends on what head studs were used, what head gaskets were used, how clean the work was done...etc. Lots of people/shops don't chase/cut the threads in the block. The studs get torqued down unevenly. Hardly any lube or no lube used lots of times.

    Had a 2004 6.0. Beautiful green crew cab king ranch. 185,000 miles when I bought it. Had it 4 years and was bulletproofed with all the paperwork (by previous owner) and had problems all the time. Never would run right. Changed every sensor and full set of injectors and still problems. Was terrified to drive it anywhere 😂 got rid of the POS and went back to a Cummins

    I’m a couple months late here but I figured I’d just ask for your opinion on this. I’ve owned 3 7.3s and have had hardly any issues besides regular maintenance and a starter and alternator going out. I’m not convinced that the 6.0 is a bad motor like a lot of people make them out to be granted they do have their issues like all of them. In your opinion if you had to buy another 6.0 would you prefer to buy one that’s bone stock or that has the “ bulletproof” done to it. Yes I know with it being stock you’ll have to spend time and money but you also know that it is done and done correctly. Vs just buying one that’s been done and hoping he or she did the work correctly even if they had a shop do it. Some shops don’t do things correctly. Thanks for the video it’s been very helpful

    Hey brother, I have no blue smoke but I do get a bit of white smoke especially for a few minutes when my truck isn’t warmed up yet. I have new head gaskets and new injectors.
    Aside from that I also did notice that I’m not getting much boost. I changed the oil added some additive to the oil and I still have a little bit of smoke.
    Any advice?

      @@Thebipolarachiever It's not personal. Reading more into what I said than is necessary. Sure, "right" maybe want the right word choice, but really, if you're gonna do a bed plate or oil pan on a 6.0, removing an engine mount and jacking up the engine is just not worth it (like I said) in my opinion. It's like doing head gaskets with the cab on and the engine in place...can you do it? Yeah. You can do lots of things. Should you? Is it a good idea? Is it worth it? Probably not. Does it make it more difficult to do it clean and well and without unnecessary obstruction and self-induced frustration? You bet.

    The 6.0 runs really nice, but they can be an unreliable pain in the ass and a huge money pit. I bought a virtual creampuff '06 F250 with 73,000 miles a few years ago and still had to replace everything but the head studs (which are next, along with fixing a leaky bed plate), along with the steering box and hydroboost and the lines. Prior to all this I drove my Dodge 2500 Hemi for 11 years and never had to do jack shit to it. I'm fortunate in that my son is a Ford Senior Master tech who does most of the work on it, but still.

    7.3 and 6.0 don't share any components? They're both HEUI...parts don't interchange, but they share components. The sound from your injectors when you turn the key on is the spool valves cycling back and forth... they're not just "buzzing".

  • @superdave2316
    @superdave2316 Месяц назад +3

    The 6.0 is the second best engine Ford ever used. I put my money were my mouth is and I own a 250 and a 450 with the same engine. My experience is that with proper maintenance of known issues the trucks are great. First raise fuel pressure with blue springs. Second flush oil cooler every 2 to 3 years. Third keep the oil clean and leave the damn thing alone!!!! No custom tuning larger turbos or rolling coal. The guys with the stretched head bolts, blown head gaskets and starting problems did it to themselves. Leave the damn thing alone because surprise; you aren't an engineer.
